Chapter 45: Let It All Out

  • Next Chapter

Space warped, and a moment later, he materialized several meters ahead, directly in the oncoming lane of the first Level 3 monster.

The boar-sized monster was completely caught off guard. Moving at full speed, its heavy momentum was too high to maneuver freely; it had no time to react, to adjust its trajectory, or to deploy its massive strength. As the beast barreled past, Michael lunged. The new matte-grey shortsword swung in a horizontal arc, slicing through the creature’s front left leg like hot steel through butter. The bone-ridge and dense muscle severed cleanly, detaching from the torso.

The monster collapsed hard, letting out a throat-shredding, agonizing shriek that echoed off the vaulted ceiling. But Michael wasn’t finished. Before the thrashing beast could roll, his blade blurred again, cleaving through its rear left leg with accuracy. The monster was effectively immobilized, pinned to the granite floor by its own useless mass, yet perfectly alive.

Michael didn’t pause to deliver the final blow. He activated **[Teleportation]** again. Because he wasn’t yet intimately familiar with the fine spatial margins of his new skill, he chose a conservative, secure approach. Instead of flashing directly into the monster’s guard, he materialized a few meters ahead, directly in their clear line of movement. If these variants had been of a higher Level, their advanced Agility and sensory perception would most likely have allowed them to react in time and pivot away; but against standard Level 3 monsters, the crude strategy worked flawlessly.

In rapid succession—*flash, crunch, flash, crunch*—Michael systematic dismantled the remaining two beasts. Within seconds, all three Level 3 monsters were turned into a screaming, crippled mess on the stone floor, their legs severed, their mobility reduced to zero, but their experience pools completely intact.

The remaining wounded survivors stood frozen, utterly speechless. Their minds couldn’t comprehend the sheer velocity of the violence. They hadn’t even seen him move— he was standing at one spot and in the next moment he was attacking a monster in a totally different position.

Those monsters were not weak at all. They had experienced the strenght of the monsters themselves. What’s more, these were level 3 while they fought only against level 1 monsters. To make it even worse, they needed to team up with at least two more fighters. Three human fighters against one level 1 monster and it was still a hard fight with inevitable wounds.

But there was a guy who took care of three of even stronger monsters at the same time. It looked so simple that it almost felt like a fantasy.

„You! Come here!“ Michael roared, pointing his blood-stained blade at the first chosen student who was limping forward. „Finish it! Now!“

The student stumbled over, his hands shaking as he raised a discarded wooden spear. With a frantic, desperate plunge, he drove the tip through the crippled beast’s unarmored eye socket.

Michael was already moving, grabbing the second immobilized monster by its thick fur and dragging its heavy mass across the floor like a sack of grain, dumping it right at the feet of the second chosen recruit. „Do it! Move!“ he commanded coldly.

He dragged the last wounded monster toward the final selected survivor. „Finish it!“

Three desperate strikes pierced the skulls of the crippled monsters. Almost instantly, the familiar, warm golden glow of three level-ups illuminated the dim department wing.

The transition was binary and perfect. The system energy washed over the three students, instantly knitting their torn flesh, healing every wound and evem the smallest scratch, refilling their depleted stamina, and increasing their physical prowers as they reached Level 3. Their unique talents materialized in their minds, unlocking their evolutionary paths.

„Listen to me carefully,“ Michael said, his tone dropping into an icy, unyielding baseline as the golden light faded. „I have zero time left to play your guardian. I am leaving right now. I have just gifted you your lives and your strength, which means your life belongs to me. You three are now strictly responsible for the survival of the remaining wounded out here.“

He stepped closer, his predatory aura pressing down on them.

„The strategy is simple. Use the exact same method I just demonstrated. Help the remaining survivors secure assists and kills so they can break their level barriers, achieve level-ups, and automatically heal their injuries. If you survive this, find your way into the city and track me down.“

With a swift, fluid motion, Michael reached into his inventory interface and materialized his remaining basic iron-tipped recruit spear, tossing the ash-wood shaft onto the floor between them for self-defense.

„I will be moving fast toward the exits,“ Michael added, his eyes turning back toward the dark outer corridors. „Any monsters I encounter on my trajectory, I will deliberately immobilize. It will give you an easier job harvesting EXP. Do not waste the resource.“

Without waiting for their confirmation, Michael lunged into a full sprint, vanishing into the darkness of the economics department corridors.

The hunt was officially underway, and his blade was hungry.

He run through the parallel connecting hallways. The university was still crawling with stray entities, but Michael didn’t hunt them down. Instead he only attacked those unlucky beasts that crossed his path.

A few dozen meters down the hall, a sleek, midnight-black panther-variant lunged out from a faculty office, its jaws wide. Moving with full concentration, Michael sidestepped the trajectory, his shortsword flashing downward in a vertical chop. The edge of his sword sliced clean through the beast’s rear hock, shattering its stability. The creature crashed into the wall, roaring in sudden, immobilized fury as Michael left it behind for the wounded survivors.

Seconds later, near the vending machines of the seminar wing, a heavily built Level 2 wolf-variant blocked his path. Instead of executing a deep thrust to the heart, Michael skidded low across the blood-stained floorboards, using his momentum to pass beneath its guard. His blade flicked outward like a scalpel, severing the tendons of its front right leg. The massive boar-sized creature keeled over, its mass pinning it to the debris.

For the rest of the path, it was a blur of calculated mutilation. Michael moved like a storm through the corridors. Every monster that crossed his way was systematically crippled—a severed leg here, a ruined tendon there, a shattered joint left behind in the dark. He transformed the terrifying monsters into a harmless, immobilized trail of experience points, paving a bloody, calculated highway toward the outside world where his family was waiting.
