Chapter 1425: Chapter 1425: Make Do with It

"I found a quilt for you; just make do with it. If you feel cold, you can run a few laps in the living room, do some exercise to warm up. Life is movement, right?"

"This time I really mean it, goodnight. Have a nice dream. See you tomorrow."

Scarlett wasn’t worried at all about whether Knox Simmons would be cold.

The room was cozy; one quilt was enough.

When she said goodnight, she couldn’t help but smile.

It was already six thirty in the morning; she should have said good morning instead.

As she walked to the window to close the curtains, she glanced outside.

The sky was barely light, and in an hour, the night would completely pass.

This night was truly a long and bitter one.

She didn’t regret leaving the Saxon Family, but after leaving, what should she do next?

She had no idea, couldn’t calm down to think about it.

She stood by the window in a daze, until waves of sleepiness washed over her, she rubbed her eyes, closed the heavy curtains, then turned and headed towards the bed.

Forget it.

Just as Knox Simmons said, "The car will find a way around the mountain." No matter how many worries await her, they can wait until she’s had a good sleep.

She was truly very, very tired, unprecedentedly fatigued.

--

Extremely exhausted, Scarlett fell into a deep sleep in less than five minutes after touching the bed.

This sleep felt as if it lasted an eternity.

When Scarlett awoke again, it was two thirty in the afternoon.

She hadn’t woken up midway, having slept for a solid eight hours, feeling quite refreshed upon waking.

Perhaps thanks to Knox Simmons’ cold remedy from last night, she hadn’t fallen ill after a few hours of exposure.

But her head still ached a bit; she rubbed it for a while, leisurely walked to the bathroom to freshen up.

Her bedroom had an ensuite; after washing her face, she looked up at the mirror, her complexion still appeared a bit pale, but better than the previous night.

She patted her face to bring some color before pulling her hand back with satisfaction. She ran her fingers through her hair and tied it into a neat ponytail.

Once everything was in order, she leisurely walked out.

As she opened the door, she saw Knox Simmons walking towards the living room in a bathrobe.

He must have just taken a shower; his hair was still damp, and droplets of water were still rolling down his bare chest.

Scarlett hadn’t expected to witness such an enticing scene right after stepping out.

Though it was only a quick glance, she caught sight of Knox Simmons’ bare chest.

His bathrobe seemed almost undone, with the upper half exposed, leaving two-thirds of his chest bare.

In all honesty, Knox Simmons had a great physique.

He and Matthew Saxon belonged to the same type; lean when clothed, muscular when unclothed, their bodies were well-built.

Those distinctively defined muscles were incredibly seductive.

Suddenly realizing she was reminded of Matthew Saxon again, Scarlett paused, and her good mood was instantly shattered completely, leaving her heart feeling blocked and pained.

Awaking from a sleep didn’t change anything.

Her mood was still terribly bad.

It was better not to think of Matthew, but once that name surfaced in her mind, the needle at the tip of her heart began piercing her chest again, over and over, causing her whole body to tremble in pain.
