Chapter 1444: Chapter 1444: No Need to Check Any Further
"Don’t be alarmed by how scary the injuries on my face look, they’ll be gone in three days at most. It’s not serious at all, there’s no need for any medication."
"But..."
"It’s just a surface wound, nothing really. Right now, we should be more worried about Matthew, hoping it’s just a false alarm. I really hope nothing serious happens to him." When Knox said this, his heart was also filled with uncertainty.
Just thinking about Matthew Saxon’s face, paler than a ghost, and recalling how he helped lift him onto the stretcher alongside the nurse, as soon as he touched Matthew’s hand, it sent a shiver down his spine.
Seeing his heavy expression, Scarlett Yates also felt a weight in her heart.
What exactly has happened to Matthew Saxon?
Even Knox Simmons was frightened, which showed how serious the situation must have been at that time.
The two shared a mutual silence, simultaneously sitting down slowly, then quietly waiting for that closed door to open.
After roughly three or four minutes, the door they had been staring at finally opened.
Scarlett Yates immediately stood up, her movements were incredibly quick, and just as Knox Simmons stood, he saw her already running out of the door.
Knox Simmons was stunned, and a sour and oppressive feeling grew even stronger in his heart as he smiled bitterly and slowly walked towards her.
The first person to walk out from inside was surprisingly Matthew Saxon.
As soon as he appeared, he heard a doctor behind him shouting, "Mr. Saxon, wait, we haven’t finished your examination yet, Mr. Saxon, please wait."
But Matthew Saxon already had one foot out the door and completely ignored the doctor’s advice.
Coming out, he glanced around and accidentally noticed someone standing outside. When he looked up, it was Scarlett Yates standing outside. He was taken aback, thinking he had seen wrongly, narrowed his long phoenix eyes, and looked again to see Scarlett Yates still standing motionlessly in front of him.
When Scarlett Yates saw him, she too froze for a moment, stared at him for a few seconds, and then asked dryly, "Are you alright?"
Scarlett’s gaze didn’t linger on him for long but quickly examined him thoroughly.
Knox hadn’t lied to her; Matthew Saxon really looked as if he had just been through a severe illness; his complexion was extraordinarily poor.
There wasn’t a hint of color on his face, resembling a ghost, his lips pale and his whole expression was weary. Compared to usual, his eyes seemed less lively.
When Matthew saw her, it was like someone had used acupuncture to freeze him in place at the door. He first showed a bit of surprise, looking at her for a while, then furrowed his brows, and a trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.
His pale lips that lacked any color moved as he was about to speak when the doctor came chasing after him: "Mr. Saxon, the examination isn’t finished yet, why did you come out?"
The doctor was very disapproving of him standing up and leaving halfway through the examination, but his tone was cautious and respectful when speaking to him, not daring to truly accuse him.
Matthew Saxon gave the doctor a faint look, "I’m fine now, there’s no need for further examination."
His voice was very hoarse, as if he hadn’t slept for three days and three nights, strained by exhaustion.
Just by hearing this voice, one would think he’s quite likely suffering from some illness.
"Mr. Saxon, your condition didn’t look good at all when you were first brought in. For the sake of your health, you should really complete the examination. It won’t take much of your time."
