Chapter 1449: Chapter 1449: Matthew Saxon Confesses to Her

After speaking, he looked up to see Scarlett Yates’s expression.

Her demeanor remained indifferent, still gazing out the window, her eyes fixated on a certain point as if truly captivated by something, showing no reaction to his apology.

But Matthew Saxon knew that she must have heard him.

She still harbors resentment towards him, so she’s unwilling to pay him any mind.

Matthew Saxon knew long ago that she wouldn’t forgive him easily.

From that night when she packed her things and left without hesitation, he understood what she was like.

Regardless of her reaction or whether she would ever forgive him, after a few moments of silence, Matthew Saxon continued to speak as if to himself: "That night, I didn’t know what was wrong with me, said many things I shouldn’t have, and did many things I shouldn’t have done. I know you’re deeply disappointed because if it were the old me, the one who remembered you, he wouldn’t have been willing to act like that."

Scarlett’s eyelashes trembled slightly, yet she still didn’t turn around.

"But it was after what happened that night that I seemed to understand some things."

At this point, he intentionally paused.

Scarlett slowly turned her head: "What did you realize?"

Matthew Saxon gazed deeply into her eyes, displaying a tenderness she hadn’t seen in him for a long time, softly speaking, word by word: "Scarlett Yates, even though I’ve lost my memory, your influence on me hasn’t diminished in the slightest."

"The night you left, I couldn’t sleep at all, my mind filled with thoughts of you."

"I think, whether I remember you or not, I still like you. Hearing that Knox Simmons had taken you away made me very angry, seeing you laugh and talk with him, so intimately, made me angrier, like someone had taken away something precious to me."

"Also, seeing you smile at him tenderly, speaking gently to him, do you know what I was thinking then?"

Scarlett was raising her glass of juice from the table, just about to take a sip, but listening to Matthew Saxon’s words, she was suddenly frozen.

The juice cup seemed fixed at her lips, her body as if immobilized, holding the action from a few seconds ago, motionless.

Only her black, soft eyes widened in surprise, showing an expression of utter astonishment as she stared at him.

What did she just hear?

The dining environment in the high-end hotel has always been very elegant, even conversations are deliberately kept low.

No one wanted to be the inconsiderate person in the eyes of others at such a place.

Therefore, Scarlett was certain that she had indeed heard Matthew Saxon confessing to her.

There was no background noise, and his voice was so clear, word by word, all distinctly pronounced, so she couldn’t have misheard.

This was certainly not the first time Matthew Saxon had confessed to her.

Yet she still felt very surprised.

This confession had a completely different meaning coming while he still hadn’t regained his memory.

She couldn’t utter a word, simply staring at him with wide, astonished eyes.

Matthew Saxon smiled slightly, his long, narrow eyes gently flicking, within them a trace of tender light reflecting her foolish, dazed figure: "Scarlett, at that time, I really wanted to give Knox Simmons a good beating. I was thinking, why does my woman have to smile at him so tenderly, even using such a gentle tone to soothe him?"
