Chapter 1464: Chapter 1464: You Wanted to See Scarlett and Me?
Matthew Saxon gently twisted open the door.
"Grandfather, did you want to talk to Scarlett and me?"
Ian Douglas was lazily leaning on the leather chair, rubbing his forehead with one hand. When he heard the door open, he lifted his head.
Although he managed to maintain a youthful appearance, looking just over forty, his looks still managed to charm quite a few women. But being over sixty, no matter how young he seemed, his age was still past half a century, and a bit of fatigue was evident on his face.
After some time of exhaustion, his complexion didn’t look very good.
This was the first time Scarlett Yates saw Ian Douglas after returning. Last night she suddenly had a fever and was lying in bed in a daze, without even going downstairs.
Ian Douglas didn’t say anything, just stared at them for a while, then suddenly smiled, sighed, and said, "I had some things I wanted to say, but since you’ve brought your wife back, I don’t have much to say anymore."
Though saying he had nothing to say, he paused for a few seconds and then earnestly continued, "It’s normal for young couples to argue, no matter how good the relationship, there will always be bumps. But fighting is one thing, running away from home is quite another. I heard some things about last night, and this matter is mainly Matthew’s fault. What were you doing bringing those random women home? Even if you were trying to make Scarlett mad, you shouldn’t do that."
Matthew Saxon felt he had finally managed to coax Scarlett Yates back home, and hoped she wouldn’t think about those unpleasant matters. But as soon as they returned home, Ian Douglas brought up the issue again.
This was exactly what he was afraid would happen.
Ian Douglas’s words were indirectly reminding Scarlett of how awful he was last night, wasn’t it?
Ian Douglas continued earnestly, "Also, Scarlett, you shouldn’t throw a tantrum like that, running away in the dead of night. You sure have guts. Even if you’re upset, you should stay with confidence. You’ve married into the Saxon Family, this is your home, you’re the lady of Saxon Mansion, why should you leave? If anyone should leave, it should be that unsavory woman you should kick out."
"By leaving, others might feel quite smug inside, you’ve lost all your aura, do you understand?"
Ian Douglas had an expression of anger at her lack of effort, his words growing more indignant, "You, as the lady of the Saxon Family, let someone else take over your territory, packed your things and left in disgrace, what is that supposed to mean?"
Where did the sharp-tongued girl he used to debate go?
She used to fear no one, couldn’t she hold back an outsider?
What happened to her fearless nature?
No matter how dissatisfied Ian Douglas used to be with Scarlett Yates, once he had accepted her as his granddaughter-in-law, Scarlett Yates was his family.
Ian Douglas was extremely protective of his own.
Yesterday, at the dining table, Matthew Saxon already knew Ian Douglas had accepted Scarlett Yates, though Scarlett Yates herself was not yet aware.
Thus... Suddenly hearing Ian Douglas speaking up for her, Scarlett Yates was very surprised.
She widened her eyes, opened her mouth wide, her face a mix of disbelief, seriously questioning whether she had misheard.
She knew very well how much Ian Douglas disliked her, didn’t she?
