Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?
Chapter 1501: Let Me Check Personally
He didn’t say anything, just watched her with a bright, easy smile. After a moment, he leaned in close again, nose twitching as he took a breath. “Mm, you smell especially good too. Are you using that blue bottle of body wash?”
“Y-yeah.”
“But how come it’s different?” He slowly lifted his head, the long, narrow phoenix eyes flickering with a fire that kept flaring and dimming. “Are you sure you really didn’t add any other fragrance to it?”
Scarlett nodded firmly. “No.”
“I don’t believe you.” Matthew’s cool fingers pinched her small, soft chin. The thin lips hooked up, the smile irresistibly charming as he said in a very, very soft voice, “Let me check personally. I want to see if you’re actually lying.”
Check personally?
Scarlett froze for a few seconds, her face already flushed red, now blooming from the inside out. She clearly knew what he meant, yet still stupidly asked, “How are you going to check?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Matthew yanked her into his arms.
He decided to answer her with action. His scorching lips came down first, kissing her until she was almost breathless, then he caught her chin and rested his forehead against hers, murmuring low, “Scarlett, isn’t it time we made up for our wedding night? Even now, you’re still not ready to give yourself to me?”
Most of his memory had already come back.
Even if he hadn’t remembered every last detail yet, it was at least eighty percent there.
From the moment his memory started returning, bits and pieces of the past kept surfacing in his mind. He figured, at this rate, he wouldn’t even need to wait until tomorrow to remember everything.
Coming back with his memory were his feelings for her.
Plane crash, amnesia, and now recovery—counting it all up, there had been so many times during this whole stretch when he almost lost her.
When he’d been without his memory, the way he treated her had been downright vile.
Especially last night.
That was when he’d been the biggest bastard. He could hardly believe he’d done something that awful.
Matthew was deeply grateful his memory was slowly returning now.
If it hadn’t, and he’d committed a few more bastard acts in the meantime, he might really have lost her.
To be pulled out alive after the crash, then to regain his memory after losing it—every bit of this felt incredibly rare to him.
If he had truly died in that crash, he and she would have been forever separated by death, never to reunite.
If his memory had never come back, how long could Scarlett have endured that bastard version of him?
In this moment, with Scarlett still at his side, he felt it was a gift.
Because it was so precious, he didn’t want to squander this streak of luck. He was desperate to make Scarlett truly his woman.
She was his wife.
Their wedding night should have happened long ago, but he’d always been too mindful of her feelings, wanting to wait for her to slowly adjust before considering it. Now, though, he couldn’t wait anymore. He didn’t want to.
He no longer understood why he should keep waiting.
He liked her, she liked him, and they were already married. Under these conditions, making her his woman—wasn’t that the most natural thing in the world?
He wasn’t willing to wait any longer.
