Chapter 1549: Chapter 1549: Everything Hinges on Your Decision
"Even in death, why care about such things? If I can fill the belly of a beast after dying, it’s a small contribution to these creatures. My death is not in vain, maybe Heaven will be moved by my selfless spirit, and my soul can ascend to paradise."
She clenched her fists and said viciously, "Someone like you, your soul will only go to hell."
"Scarlett, instead of discussing afterlife affairs, let’s talk about some serious matters during our lifetime." His tone subtly shifted, and he changed the topic with a smile, "There are a few things about the virus inside Matthew that I forgot to tell you."
Scarlett Yates remained silent.
She had never hated a person so much.
Hated them enough to grind their bones to dust.
But Maxwell Saxon knew she was listening and said with a faint smile, "I previously mentioned he would be paralyzed, but I just remembered I left out a few details. If there is no antidote, in fact, he won’t just be paralyzed; he will also become blind and deaf."
"At that point, he will be a real waste."
"But you don’t need to worry. After all, he is the Young Master of the Saxon Family. With the Saxon Family’s wealth, even if he becomes a waste, he won’t be left uncared for."
Stars appeared in front of her eyes, and Scarlett suddenly felt dizzy, "Maxwell Saxon!"
"Whether he becomes a waste or returns to normal, it all depends on you."
"And when you left the Yates Family, you forgot to take some things with you. I brought them over for you. I hope you won’t forget them again, or I will really be upset."
Scarlett was surrounded by a buzzing noise, unable to hear what he was saying.
But just a minute after Maxwell Saxon finished speaking, someone walked up to her.
The person standing in front of her was in a formal suit, holding a box. They bowed slightly to her first, then handed the box to her, respectfully saying: "Miss Yates, please accept this."
Scarlett was startled, glaring at the man in front of her, "Who are you?"
Someone answered for the man, "He’s my man. Just take the box and keep it safe."
Scarlett was furious, "Maxwell Saxon, how dare you say you haven’t been following me."
Every move and every word of hers was under his surveillance.
Not only did he follow her, but he was hiding nearby to watch her so closely.
He chuckled lightly, "I’m not following you, just concerned for your safety, so I discreetly sent two people to protect you."
Only someone as shameless as him could justify tracking and monitoring so directly.
"What’s in the box?"
"Jewelry I bought for you."
"That set of diamond jewelry? Do you think I would wear it around in daily life and flaunt it everywhere?"
"Then just keep it. Perhaps I should buy you a more understated set."
Scarlett stood still, and so did the man holding the box, maintaining the posture of presenting the box to her.
She was standing by the roadside during rush hour, with a large flow of people coming and going.
This scene naturally appeared to some oblivious passersby as a proposal.
Someone started to jeer, "Miss, just accept him! This young man looks quite handsome."
One person started the teasing, followed quickly by a second, "Yes, yes, such a handsome young man, what are you hesitating about?"
