Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor
Chapter 105 - 103: Magic Model
Chapter 105: Chapter 103: Magic Model
"I hope what you’re saying is true."
Elena said to Roy, her expression serious.
"I never joke about things like this."
Roy replied.
Elena said nothing more, averting her gaze and continuing to enjoy the lunch before her.
Although she said nothing more, Miria knew that her calm demeanor meant she was starting to accept Roy.
If she didn’t accept Roy, she wouldn’t be this calm.
Roy and Miria also fell silent and began to enjoy their lunch.
After lunch, Miria didn’t take Roy to the secret chamber where the Three-headed Dog was being held right away. Instead, she led him to the study.
As Roy watched, she opened a hidden compartment behind a bookshelf and retrieved an ancient scroll that looked to be of considerable age.
After retrieving the scroll, Miria came over to Roy and said softly, "This is the Magic Scroll that records the Level Zero Beast Taming Technique. The text inside is written in the Ancient Byron Language used by Wizards."
"But you don’t have to worry. The ancestors of the Elvin Clan hired various linguists long ago to translate it into the continent’s common tongue."
"The translation is recorded at the very end of the Magic Scroll."
With that, Miria handed Roy the Magic Scroll, an heirloom the Elvin Clan had passed down for hundreds of years.
"Mm."
Roy nodded and took the Magic Scroll.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he opened the Magic Scroll and began to scan its contents.
Just as Miria had said, the first part of the scroll was written in Ancient Byron Language, which he couldn’t read.
Though he didn’t know what the Ancient Byron text meant, a single term flashed through his mind the moment he saw the several intricate and complex diagrams within the scroll.
’Magic Model!’
These intricate and complex diagrams were none other than the Magic Model for the Level Zero Beast Taming Technique.
To be precise, they were the three-view diagrams of the Beast Taming Skill’s Magic Model.
Roy didn’t know any spells, but he knew that the corresponding Magic Model for any given spell was three-dimensional.
To perfectly represent a three-dimensional Magic Model on a two-dimensional surface, one needed the three basic views: a front view, a top view, and a left-side view.
Of course, for even greater clarity, one could add a right-side view, bottom view, and rear view to the initial three, creating a more detailed six-view diagram.
For an ordinary person, the Magic Model for the Beast Taming Skill was very complex.
Even with the scroll’s clear and accurate three-view diagrams, it was very difficult to mentally assemble them into a complete Magic Model.
But for Roy, who cultivated the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method, this Magic Model wasn’t particularly complex.
To put it into perspective, the Magic Model for the Beast Taming Skill was only slightly more complex than the first three Will Runes of the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method.
Seeing Roy engrossed in studying the Magic Model’s three-view diagrams, Miria sat down beside him.
Time trickled by.
Thanks to the Spiritual Power and memory he had honed with the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method, Roy flawlessly memorized the entire Magic Model for the Beast Taming Skill in less than half an hour.
If Miria hadn’t been right there beside him, he would have immediately entered Chaos Square to attempt constructing the Beast Taming Skill’s Magic Model.
Only after confirming that he had memorized every detail of the Beast Taming Skill’s Magic Model did he flip to the translation at the back of the scroll.
He had been reading for less than half a minute when his brow furrowed.
’This translation has problems!’
’So amateurish!’
Although Roy couldn’t perform any Magic yet, he had at least thoroughly read *Basic Magic Potion: From Beginner to Expert*.
If nothing else, he at least understood some of the common, basic terminology.
Magic Model was translated as "a spell’s three-dimensional Magic Array."
Spiritual Power was translated as Spiritual Energy.
And Mana was translated as Natural Energy.
It was normal for the translation to have many small issues, though.
After all, the ones who translated it back then were just a group of linguists with a rudimentary understanding of the Ancient Byron Language, not actual Wizards.
It would have been stranger if those linguists *had* been able to accurately translate the entirety of the Beast Taming Skill.
After reviewing the entire Magic Scroll, Roy closed it and said to Miria, "I’ll return the Magic Scroll once I’ve finished copying its contents."
He had already memorized the Beast Taming Skill’s Magic Model and the translated sections, but he hadn’t memorized the Ancient Byron text itself.
"There’s no need. You can just keep it."
"Elena and I have looked it over dozens of times, and we can’t even remember a single one of the diagrams."
Miria replied swiftly.
’It’s normal that you can’t remember it.’
’Trying to memorize a Magic Model without ever having cultivated a Meditation Technique is like trying to run before you can walk.’
Although Roy knew why Miria couldn’t memorize the Magic Model for the Beast Taming Skill, he didn’t plan on teaching her the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method.
Once Miria and Catherine both advanced to the rank of Great Knight, he planned to give them the Memory Crystal Ball containing the Purgatory Dragon Meditation Method to see if they had any Wizard Talent.
As for now, there was no need.
Cultivating a Meditation Technique now would only slow their advancement to the rank of Great Knight.
"You should keep the Magic Scroll. No matter what, it’s been in the Elvin Clan for hundreds of years."
"Once I learn the Beast Taming Skill, the scroll will be useless to me."
Roy replied.
"You’re confident you can learn the Beast Taming Skill?"
Miria looked at Roy, surprised.
"Barring any accidents, I should be able to."
"As for whether I can actually do it, we’ll know in a few days."
Roy added.
’I’ve already memorized the Beast Taming Skill’s Magic Model flawlessly. All that’s left is to try constructing it with my Spiritual Power and activating it with Mana.’
’In other words, I’ve already completed the first step to learning the Beast Taming Skill.’
’As for constructing and activating the Magic Model, I plan to try that in Chaos Square.’
’After all, Chaos Square provides a special bonus effect.’
After a moment of thought, Miria said slowly, "Let’s go see the Three-headed Dog first."
"Okay."
Roy nodded.
Hearing his agreement, Miria wasted no time, immediately leading him to the secret chamber where the Three-headed Dog was imprisoned.
Before long, they arrived at the secret chamber, located more than ten meters beneath the main building.
The secret chamber wasn’t especially large, only twenty or thirty square meters, with several torches hanging on the walls.
In the center of the chamber was an iron cage, a little over two meters in length, width, and height.
The bars of the cage were thick—as thick as an adult’s arm.
In addition, the cage was wrapped in equally thick iron chains, the other ends of which were firmly anchored to the surrounding walls.
Inside the cage lay a young Three-headed Dog with jet-black fur. It was about the size of a warhorse.
The Three-headed Dog had heard their footsteps as soon as Miria opened the first iron door to the underground passage.
But even as they entered the chamber, the Three-headed Dog showed no reaction, lying listlessly inside its iron cage.
’This thing’s temper doesn’t seem so bad!’
The thought had barely formed in Roy’s mind when the Three-headed Dog in the cage proved, with its actions, just what a foul temper looked like.
As he and Miria watched, the Three-headed Dog abruptly shot to its feet and slammed into the bars with all its might.
At the same time, all three of its heads opened their mouths wide, baring sharp fangs and letting out hostile roars, looking as if it wanted to tear Roy and Miria limb from limb.
The Three-headed Dog roared as it slammed against the cage, causing the iron to groan as if it were about to break.
Seeing this, Roy finally understood why the cage needed to be reinforced with iron chains.
Without those chains for reinforcement, the Three-headed Dog would smash through the cage sooner or later.
’This thing’s temper really is terrible!’
Roy thought to himself with a sigh as he sized up the Three-headed Dog.
