Chapter 84: Chapter 82: How to Train Your Dragon, A Good Name is a Good Omen

Perhaps it was intimidated by the Dragon Mighty Roy had just unleashed.

As he walked toward the Earth Dragon, the beast—far larger than him—didn’t attack. Instead, it retreated continuously like a frightened animal, its huge, golden, vertical pupils fixed on him.

Seeing this, Roy stopped in his tracks.

After a moment’s thought, he retracted the Silver-White Fighting Qi covering his body.

As he withdrew his Protective Fighting Qi, the aura he exuded diminished slightly.

Even so, the Earth Dragon still showed no signs of attacking.

’This thing is way too timid!’

Roy complained inwardly.

Sighing in resignation, he quickened his pace.

At first, his Speed was about that of a leisurely stroll after a meal.

But after just a few steps, his Speed increased to the point where he was about to leave afterimages.

Before the Earth Dragon could react, he was in front of it, swinging the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff in his hand.

Splitting Staff!

Roy wasn’t using any flashy Staff Techniques, just a basic move from the repertoire: the Splitting Staff.

Although the move was simple and brutal, the power of this Splitting Staff strike was anything but small.

THUD!

A dull thud like the beat of a war drum rang out!

The Earth Dragon had no time to do anything before the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff struck its massive head, slamming it hard into the ground.

As they say, the louder the thump, the harder the skull.

To avoid killing the Earth Dragon in a single blow, Roy had held back.

Never mind that this Earth Dragon was only approaching its Mature Stage; even if it had already reached its Mature Stage, it would have been no match for Roy.

After the Earth Dragon’s head smashed a large crater into the ground, Roy swung his staff a second time.

Poking Staff!

The Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff thrust out like Lightning, striking the Earth Dragon square on its forehead.

Compared to the earlier Splitting Staff strike, the Poking Staff was much quieter.

However, that didn’t mean the Poking Staff was any weaker than the Splitting Staff.

A smaller contact area meant more concentrated pressure.

The immense force traveled down the shaft of the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff and was transferred, without reservation, into the Earth Dragon’s head.

While executing the Poking Staff, Roy had also discreetly used his Secret Skill: Fierce Strike, instantly increasing his total Fighting Qi output and making his already astonishing strength even more terrifying.

If not for the fact that the Earth Dragon’s scales had a Defense Power comparable to Fine Steel and its skull was sufficiently hard, the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff would have pierced through its head like a Long Spear.

The pain in its head triggered the Earth Dragon’s innate ferocity.

It didn’t know who Roy was, but it was certain of one thing: it had to kill him to stop him from continuing to bash its head.

Driven by instinct, it opened its massive maw, revealing blade-like, sharp teeth.

Just as it was about to counterattack Roy, he swung the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff once again.

THWACK!

The Earth Dragon had just opened its mouth and hadn’t yet had time to bite at Roy when the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff smashed into its head again, forcing it to involuntarily shut its jaw.

Roy showed it no mercy, swinging the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff in his hands relentlessly.

He unleashed a flurry of techniques—striking, chopping, sweeping, swinging, jabbing, pressing, and flicking.

He wielded the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff, which looked as if it were forged from Silver, with the grace of flowing water, striking the Earth Dragon’s head again and again.

Although the Earth Dragon was massive, Roy had no intention of attacking any other part of its body. He focused exclusively on its head.

THWACK! THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!...

The dull thuds rang out ceaselessly, creating a bizarre percussion symphony.

If, at the beginning, the Earth Dragon had any thoughts of resisting Roy...

then now, after the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff had accurately struck its head time and time again, leaving it dizzy and seeing stars, only one thought remained in its mind.

Escape!

By now, it had realized that Roy was not an enemy it could contend with, and it completely abandoned any notion of biting or eating him.

It wasn’t that it hadn’t tried to resist, but its every attempt had failed without suspense.

Bites, tail swipes, charges...

No matter what it did, Roy would just land another vicious blow on its head.

Although its intelligence wasn’t as high as a human’s, it knew that if it kept resisting, Roy would eventually crack its skull open.

In fact, its head was already starting to ring.

Concussion!

Under the relentless assault of the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff, it was showing signs of a concussion.

Roy gave the Earth Dragon no chance to escape, continuing to hammer its head with the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff.

Although the outcome of the battle was decided from the start, he had to admit he was thoroughly enjoying this dragon-taming process. It made him feel like a master dragon tamer.

Moreover, when the Earth Dragon started trying to flee, he knew that subduing it was only a matter of time.

After striking the Earth Dragon a dozen more times, Roy stopped. He stood a few meters away from it and asked, "Can you understand human speech?"

The Earth Dragon stared at him with its golden, vertical pupils, making no move.

’Can’t it understand me?’

’Or is it just dazed from the beating?’

After a moment of thought, Roy retrieved an iron chain from Chaos Square and walked straight toward the Earth Dragon.

Soon, he was standing before the Earth Dragon.

He first tapped the Earth Dragon’s head lightly with the Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff, then used it to point at the ground, gesturing for it to lie down.

The Earth Dragon tilted its head and glanced at him.

A few seconds later, it lay down on the ground like a pet dog.

Seeing the Earth Dragon lie down, Roy nodded in satisfaction and wrapped the iron chain around its neck.

The chain he had taken from Chaos Square was just an ordinary one, not particularly thick.

Never mind an Earth Dragon; even a Warhorse could easily break free from this chain.

Roy didn’t expect the chain to actually restrain the Earth Dragon.

He was doing this mainly to make the Earth Dragon understand that he intended to take it as his mount.

After securing the chain, Roy took out a Basic Healing Potion from Chaos Square, pried open the Earth Dragon’s mouth, and poured the Potion inside.

For an Ordinary Knight, a Basic Healing Potion had an excellent healing effect.

While it couldn’t regenerate severed limbs, it had no problem turning a serious injury into a minor one.

However, when used on an Earth Dragon, a creature far larger than a human, its effect was greatly diminished.

Roy knew full well that the Basic Healing Potion couldn’t possibly heal the Earth Dragon completely—it could only alleviate its pain to some extent—but he gave it one anyway.

A slap, then a sweet!

This method wasn’t just effective on humans; it was also very useful for Beast Taming.

The Earth Dragon didn’t know what Roy had given it, but it soon felt the pain in its body lessen, and much of the wariness and unease in its eyes immediately dissipated.

Roy took off his mask, looked at the Earth Dragon with a calm expression, and said slowly, "From now on, you’re with me."

"Your whole body is covered in black scales, and you’re almost at your Mature Stage."

"Since that’s the case, I’ll call you ’Big Black’... no, that’s too cliché. I’ll just call you Xiaobai!"

With that, Roy patted Xiaobai’s head, put his mask back on, and with a slight push from his legs, leaped onto Xiaobai’s back. He sat down, holding the newly fastened chain, and pointed in the direction of Yorkshire.

Without him needing to say another word, Xiaobai immediately rose to its feet and, with its sturdy limbs, galloped wildly toward Yorkshire.
