Chapter 123: Chapter 100: Real Time and Annihilation Particles
Amy also completed her Cultivation of the Five Plagues Curse.
She stood in the open space at the center of the laboratory. Placed in front of her were three bottles of Curse Potions, each a different color.
They were the pale-green Spore Extract, the deep-purple Mutant Catalyst, and the dark-red Lethal Trigger Agent.
Taking a deep breath, she drew a Rune Array in the air with her hands, causing the three Magic Potions to light up simultaneously.
Pale-green spores drifted out from the bottle’s mouth. Odorless and nearly invisible to the naked eye, they diffused through the air, clinging to the walls, the tabletop, and the metal stands of the Recording Platform.
With a gentle twirl of Amy’s finger, the deep-purple Mutant Catalyst was injected into the spore cluster. The spores began to undergo transformation—their reproduction rate skyrocketed, and their shapes shifted from smooth and round to sharp and jagged.
Finally, the dark-red Lethal Trigger Agent was added, pushing the spores that had already undergone Mutations into their final activation phase.
Even though this was merely a demonstration and hadn’t been tested on a living creature, the protective runes inside the laboratory had already begun to flicker.
Standing to the side, Chen Shang observed the entire process with the Eye of True Sight.
The design of this triple-layered strike was ingenious. The first layer of infection was silent and traceless; the second layer of Mutations was uncontrollable; the third layer of lethality was irreversible.
This method of combining curses with Magic Potions did not require acquiring the enemy’s Life Information to take effect. It was much more insidious and far harder to mount a Defense against than traditional Curse Techniques.
Naturally, there was a price: the final outcome was entirely uncontrollable. It could even backfire on the caster, as no one could predict exactly what stage of Mutations the released spores would reach.
However, it was perfectly suited for the assessment. In the assessment world, every Apprentice had a Protective Talisman for teleportation, meaning elimination did not equate to death.
Chen Shang nodded and called Amy over.
"There is still some time before the assessment. You can focus your research in the direction of the Five Plague Ghosts.
"Once you enter the assessment world, you must be extremely cautious and protect yourself. Do your best to showcase your abilities. Even if you cannot complete the assessment objectives, as long as your capabilities are outstanding enough, you can still pass."
Amy nodded earnestly and carefully tucked the bottles of Magic Potions into her waist pouch.
In a certain High Tower within Elemental Storm, Third Level Wizard Olivia was formulating a new type of catalyst in her laboratory when she suddenly received a message from her Apprentice.
Setting down the instrument in her hand, she propped her Crystal Plate on a stand and read through the entire paper with utmost seriousness, also noting the recommendation provided by her Apprentice.
She then opened the author’s information profile: Chen Shang, Second Level Apprentice at Starfall Laboratory.
Olivia frowned. While it wasn’t entirely unprecedented for a Second Level Apprentice to write a paper of this caliber, it was certainly rare. It proved that this little guy was highly sensitive to the Elements.
Rubbing the bridge of her nose, she stood up, took off her lab coat, and retrieved a silvery-white badge from her drawer, pinning it to her collar. It signified her rank: Third Level Wizard of Elemental Storm.
Then, with a single step, she vanished into thin air.
At the Starfall Laboratory, inside Haimer’s High Tower.
Haimer was handling Plane coordination affairs. His Crystal Plate was densely packed with over a dozen project reports awaiting his approval.
He didn’t look up, but the moment the door opened, he spoke.
"A rare guest."
Olivia sat down opposite him, skipping the pleasantries to get straight to the point.
"You have an Apprentice under you named Chen Shang. He’s a Second Level Apprentice focusing on the Biological Rune direction, and he recently wrote a paper on Elemental Fusion. The quality is exceptionally high."
She placed her Crystal Plate on the desk, its screen displaying the first page of Chen Shang’s paper. "I want to bring him to Elemental Storm. He should officially join our Elemental City."
Setting down his own Crystal Plate, Haimer looked at Olivia. "You’re too late."
Olivia raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to elaborate.
"He is currently cultivating the Starfall Legacy’s Witchcraft. He has already mastered the Repulsive and Attractive Dual Force as well as Force Touch Perception, and he is now undergoing Micro-Repulsive Guidance Training and practicing Micro-Attractor. It’s highly unlikely that he will pivot toward the Elements."
Haimer’s tone was calm and unhurried, as though he were simply stating a fact. "The path he walks is the Star Force Field, not Elemental Control. Elemental City cannot give him what he wants."
Olivia brought up the paper again. "To write an elemental paper of this caliber while simultaneously cultivating the Starfall Legacy proves that his Perception Power and understanding of the Elements far exceed his peers. Keeping someone like him here is a waste."
Haimer wasn’t angry. After glancing at the paper, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. "When I discovered this little guy, he had only just awakened his Spiritual Power aptitude. It was only after I inducted him into the laboratory that he experienced such rapid growth. His talent for the Starfall Legacy is also exceptionally high. This is the arrangement of Destiny."
But Olivia didn’t care about Destiny. She immediately caught the main point. "So his Spiritual Power talent was unexpectedly awakened post-birth? Does that mean the Spiritual Power project development team might also try to poach him from you?
"Furthermore, he excels in Biological Runes. Could it be that the Flesh Abyss or some ancient Bloodlines will set their sights on him in the future?"
Olivia’s words gave Haimer a bit of a headache. He was the one who had recommended Chen Shang to the Spiritual Power project development team; they were in a cooperative relationship, so they certainly wouldn’t try to poach his Apprentice.
As for those ancient Bloodlines, they would have to have a death wish to dare poach someone from a Wizard.
However, the same couldn’t be said for the Flesh Abyss.
That organization was teeming with old fogeys from ancient times. A significant portion of them were even old monsters who had washed their hands of their pasts as Black Wizards to legitimize themselves, so they didn’t take the rules of the Pan-Wizard Alliance very seriously.
The very reason Olivia had come in person was because Chen Shang’s paper was undeniably brilliant.
For Chen Shang, this was the result of combining three Purple-tier entries—the Samadhi True Flame, the One-Element Heavy Water, and the Multiple Magic Springs—along with a mutually multiplying theory equivalent to a Blue-tier entry.
