Chapter 137: Chapter 105: The True Backup Plan and Purple Trait
As the white light of the Teleportation Array was about to completely dissipate and the Fire Elemental Lord’s attack closed in, Chen Shang traced a Detonating Rune on the Crystal Plate with his finger.
The next moment, the seven Pivot Points deep within the Earth Vein trembled simultaneously. A violent explosion immediately resonated through them.
The Detonating Runes Evelyn had buried perfectly matched the Energy frequency of the Pivot Points. Like pouring a ladle of Water into a boiling pot of oil, the Fire Elements went wild!
The first muffled boom echoed from underground, sounding like an ancient behemoth turning over in its sleep. Then came the second, third, and fourth—all seven Pivot Points exploded in sequence. Each blast was more ferocious than the last. Amplified layer by layer by the Detonating Runes, the Energy of the Fire Vein spewed from the fissures in the ground.
The ground boiled. Dark red magma was propelled hundreds of meters into the air by subterranean pressure, exploding into countless blazing red fragments like an inverted meteor shower.
Shockwaves swept in all directions, carrying scorching heat and crushed stone. Wherever they passed, the vitrified ground was overturned, and the charred rock walls were leveled. Even the air rippled visibly from the blasts.
The Tier Four Lord in the center of the basin took the first shockwave head-on. Its body swayed, but it didn’t take a single step back. When the second wave followed, it raised its arms to block. Deep Purple Flames coalesced over its body, forming a Crystal Shield.
The third, fourth, and fifth waves struck. Each shockwave was more violent than the last, and cracks began to web across the shield.
The Lord let out an angry, low roar and violently thrust its hands outward. The Crystal Shield shattered, forcefully dispersing the remaining shockwaves.
Its body was covered in grime and ash from the explosion, and several of its scale-like crystals had shattered, exposing its dark red Energy form beneath. However, it remained uninjured. The Defense of a Tier Four Lord far exceeded what explosions of this caliber could penetrate.
It stood in place, its chest heaving violently. The deep Purple Flames in its eye sockets danced like two volcanoes on the verge of erupting.
"Chase them down!" Its voice made the entire rift tremble. "Catch them! I’ll shove these bastards into a volcanic crater and let them burn for ten eras!"
Several injured Tier Three Elves crawled out from the rubble, their bodies still smoking. Not daring to delay, they followed closely behind the Lord, chasing after the residual Energy trail of the Teleportation Array.
After the dust had settled, the basin was reduced to ruins.
A catastrophic disaster of Destruction had occurred here, and the aura of a Tier Four Lord lingered. Logically, ordinary Fire Elemental Spirits would avoid this place at all costs. However, quite abruptly, a few inconspicuous shards of glass twitched slightly.
Several Liwa deactivated their stealth. Their grayish-blue skin was covered in a thin layer of volcanic ash, making them look no different from the surrounding rubble. They had been lying in ambush on the periphery for a long time, completely untouched by the recent explosion.
Now, they stepped onto the ruins, turning over crushed stones and squeezing into crevices. Others stood at vantage points, scanning every inch of the ground. Searching in scattered groups, the Liwa found quite a few remains.
Suddenly, one of the Liwa stopped. It crouched down and pulled something out from the crevice between two overlapping volcanic rocks.
It was the longsword.
The blade was covered in cyan and crimson Runes. Its luster was dim, as if it had fallen into a deep slumber.
The Liwa wrapped the sword in a specially made black cloth, completely concealing its aura. Hugging the weapon close, it silently vanished into the shadows of the rift.
Standing at the drop point of the Teleportation Array, Chen Shang put away his Crystal Plate. Ella, meanwhile, gazed toward the direction of the Fallen Land.
"Will the plan succeed?" she asked.
Chen Shang didn’t answer, but Twilight said softly, "It should be fine. That Lord has been completely consumed by anger. Fury has blinded its eyes... Rationality truly is a scarce commodity!"
"Let’s find a place to hide first," Chen Shang instructed. "I’ll do my best to contact the Creation Species. Hopefully, they will arrive safely!"
At his word, the group scattered to find suitable hiding spots.
In truth, Chen Shang didn’t have the ability to engrave a Teleportation Array onto the Huowa at all. Given his level of mastery over Space Runes, he could only manage to proficiently use a Space Book. Twilight couldn’t do it either. By combining her Black Fog Witchcraft with Alchemy Materials, the most she could do was set up a Teleportation Array in an open clearing. Miniaturizing it was a major challenge, let alone turning it into a mobile module equipped on a Huowa.
The so-called teleportation of the sword was a complete illusion—an act put on for that Lord from start to finish. He had simply used the camouflage Runes on the Huowa’s remains to temporarily mask the sword’s aura, making the Lord believe it had been teleported away.
Only that idiotic Lord would actually believe it.
If it had just calmed down for a second and swept the basin with its perception, it would have discovered that the sword’s aura was still there. However, expecting a Fire Elemental Lord to be calm was an absolute joke.
To deprive it of any time to think, Chen Shang had swiftly detonated the Earth Vein Pivot Points, using a chain of explosions to cover up the illusion that the sword had been teleported away. The sword wouldn’t be damaged by the blasts. Its Quality was several tiers higher than an Ordinary Witch Artifact; even a full-force strike from a Tier Four Lord might not leave a scratch on it. The explosions would only blast it off the ground, dropping it into some pile of rubble or a rock crevice.
Moreover, calling the Lord a brainless idiot before he left was a deliberate provocation. By angering it, he ensured the Lord would focus entirely on chasing them, leaving it no mind to carefully perceive the sword’s whereabouts.
Anger was the best cover.
Normal Wizards wouldn’t waste so much breath during a fight. This wasn’t an academic exchange, after all; it was all just calculation and scheming.
