Chapter 165: Chapter 114: But I Always Make an Appearance
Three Heads and Six Arms!
This was an attribute he had extracted long ago from that Two-headed Ogre in the talent market. He had used it on Surtr before, and it provided a massive boost to close-quarters combat prowess.
In that instant, Chen Shang’s Spiritual Force Field split into three independent sensory units, granting independent control over each of his six arms.
In Rex’s perception, it was as if Chen Shang had simultaneously become three different people—one pair of hands defended against his Light Strings, another condensed One-Element Heavy Water, and the third sought out weaknesses in his defense.
"What kind of Witchcraft is this?" Rex’s voice carried a hint of surprise for the first time.
"A close-combat Witchcraft—Three Heads and Six Arms!"
"Thrilling! Truly thrilling! I didn’t expect you to be so skilled in the Body Refining Stream as well!"
Chen Shang’s three pairs of hands moved simultaneously. One pair drew short blades condensed from One-Element Heavy Water from his waist, severing the Light Strings before him to secure more space for himself.
Another pair formed a Water Shield on each of his sides, blocking Rex’s rapid assaults.
The final pair remained hidden behind his back, gathering Samadhi True Flames in their palms. He didn’t use the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes model; instead, he opted to directly compress the Samadhi True Flame.
The leverage multiplier was only a little over ten times, but it was enough!
Soon, he hurled the compressed Samadhi True Flame. The target wasn’t Rex’s body, but the Stone Slab beneath his feet.
The Samadhi True Flame exploded, shattering the Stone Slab. In that split second, Rex’s center of gravity shifted by just a finger’s width. The Eye of Truth seized upon that flaw, and fists rained down like a furious storm.
"Ancestor Worship!" Rex let out a low roar, his eyes flaring with a grayish-white light. Magic Power surged madly as something much deeper within his body was awakened.
His muscles bulged once more, tearing the seams of his Leather Armor to reveal the dark, gnarled muscle fibers beneath that resembled ancient tree roots.
His breathing was no longer a series of rapid pants, but a rhythmic, drum-like "HOO-HAH."
His entire aura transformed. He no longer seemed like an Apprentice in an arena, but a Hunter stalking out of a primeval ice field.
He held no weapons in his hands, yet every inch of his body was a weapon. His punches became more cunning and unpredictable, and his footwork grew incredibly elusive.
Rex began to leave afterimages across the arena. Each one performed a different action—one feinted, another sidestepped, and yet another gathered strength. He sought to use this to offset the intense offensive pressure brought by Chen Shang’s Three Heads and Six Arms.
Chen Shang’s Eye of Truth captured these afterimages. They were the result of Rex’s body unleashing movement speed far beyond its limits in a short burst.
His Constitution had broken past the two-hundred mark in that instant. His Bloodline was liberated, pushing his physical capabilities to the absolute extreme. He had paid some sort of price in exchange for the combat instincts of his ancient ancestors.
"Is this a sub-branch of Ancient Possession?"
"Good eye!"
"No wonder your Constitution is so freakish!"
Chen Shang’s Three Heads and Six Arms withstood the first wave of attacks, but began to struggle during the second. By the third wave, bruises had already started to form on his arms.
The Water Shields made of One-Element Heavy Water were shattered time and again. Each reconstruction consumed Spiritual Power, and his Spiritual Power recovered sluggishly within the magnetic interference field.
Yet, Chen Shang did not panic. In the gaps between his defense, he attempted to condense another compressed Samadhi True Flame. While parrying one of Rex’s heavy punches, this pair of hands flicked the pushed-to-the-limit Samadhi True Flame outward.
The Fireball flew past, grazing Rex’s ribs, and blasted a small crater into the protective barrier behind him. A scorch mark was seared into Rex’s flank, causing his body to instinctively flinch.
Chen Shang seized this opening. One of his arms threaded upward through Rex’s armpit, another clamped down on his shoulder, and a third pressed a second Samadhi True Flame directly into his side.
Rex let out a muffled grunt and stumbled half a step back.
The scales began to tip. Chen Shang was no longer passively defending; he embedded a Samadhi True Flame into the recoil of every parry.
Although they weren’t at full output, these attacks caused massive disruptions to his opponent. The Samadhi True Flames nailed themselves into Rex’s body one after another.
Shoulders, arms, sides, thighs, insteps—each flame was only the size of a fingernail, and each only burned through the surface of his skin. But as the damage accumulated, Rex’s movements began to falter and lose their form.
Those scorched spots hindered Rex every time he tried to exert strength, causing his punching speed to drop.
Rex’s breathing deteriorated from a steady rhythm into ragged gasps. Sweat mingled with beads of blood flew from his body, painting dark red arcs across the arena floor.
Chen Shang’s Three Heads and Six Arms continued to operate, but Rex’s Ancestor Worship could no longer hold up. His body gradually ceased to obey his commands.
Finally, after Chen Shang sidestepped a punch, three of his arms simultaneously pinned Rex’s chest, shoulder, and side.
"You’re out of stamina."
Rex panted heavily, scalding hot sweat dripping onto the back of Chen Shang’s hands. His eyes still held a grayish-white glow, but his pupils were already beginning to revert to black.
"Those Samadhi True Flames of yours... hurt like a bitch."
He looked down at the dozen or so smoking scorch marks dotting his body, fell silent for a few breaths, and then let out a heavy sigh.
"I yield. I can’t fight anymore."
The referee immediately raised a Crystal Plate. "Chen Shang wins."
Rex extended his hand. Chen Shang grasped it with three of his hands simultaneously, gave it a firm shake, and let go. The two turned and walked off the arena.
Applause erupted across the audience stands once more. It had been an outstanding battle.
Baal leaped up from his seat, his chubby face flushed red. He strained his vocal cords and bellowed, "Badass!" His voice overpowered half the stadium.
