Chapter 167: Chapter 115: Double Casting and Three Elements Mutual Multiplication
The fist-sized sphere, half-gold and half-blue, surged with fine golden electrical arcs where the colors met. It shot rapidly toward Alicia, spinning so fast that it whipped the surrounding air into a sharp, piercing shriek.
Alicia sidestepped. Raising her right hand with her fingers splayed and palm facing forward, she quickly gathered the Ice Element before her.
It was invisible to the ordinary naked eye, but in the vision of the Eye of Truth, a Frost Domain had unfurled!
Centering on her, the air temperature within a five-meter radius plummeted. The ground frosted over, and countless tiny Ice Crystals condensed in the air, resembling a miniature polar storm.
While the individual Ice Crystals were imperceptible, they spun at an incredibly high speed. As a result, a visible silvery-white Vortex formed around Alicia.
The moment the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes crashed into that Ice Crystal Vortex, it didn’t immediately detonate. The Ice Crystals were evaporated into steam by the high heat, only for the extreme cold to condense the steam back into Ice Crystals, which were then evaporated once more in an endless cycle.
Alicia actually intended to wear down the Energy of the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes this way. It seemed she had indeed studied Chen Shang’s Witchcraft.
But how could Chen Shang let her have her way? He directly detonated it from afar with his mind!
BOOM!
The scorching golden Flame and deep blue water light of the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes erupted from the center of the Vortex, blasting those Ice Crystals into countless fine specks of dust.
The shockwave, carrying high-temperature steam, rippled outward. The arena’s protective shield vibrated violently, letting out an overwhelmed hum. The people in the front rows of the audience leaned back, forced away by the oncoming wave of heat. Some shielded their faces with their hands.
The powdered Ice Crystals melted under the high heat, turning into a fine mist before condensing back into frost in the extreme cold, falling onto the arena floor with a soft rustle.
Most of Alicia’s Ice Crystal Vortex had been blown away, but her body remained perfectly still. She looked at Chen Shang, her gaze filled with intense Concentration. "The Water-Fire Heaven Extremes truly lives up to its reputation. To still have this much Power after expending so much Energy—your leverage multiplier is insanely strong!"
"But it still didn’t hurt you," Chen Shang said with a smile.
Alicia shook her head. "I had already come up with a countermeasure against you, but I didn’t expect you to be able to detonate it like that!"
Chen Shang didn’t reply. Detonating the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes from a distance was a line of research he had been working on. He launched his second round of attacks. This time, he didn’t use the Water-Fire Heaven Extremes; instead, he prepared a rapid assault.
The Samadhi True Flame was compressed into Fireballs the size of fingernails. They fired off in quick succession, shooting toward Alicia like a machine gun.
Alicia didn’t take the attack head-on this time. Her body glided backward gracefully as she waved her hands repeatedly. Dozens of Ice Needles shot from her fingertips, accurately intercepting every single Fireball.
The Ice Needles and Fireballs collided in midair, bursting into clouds of steam that filled the arena with a dense white mist.
"This is my Frost Domain. Be careful!"
Alicia’s voice echoed from within the white mist. Every word was crystal clear, making Chen Shang’s heart skip a beat.
In this kind of academic battle, aside from competing in abilities, everyone also held a mindset of learning and exchange. For Alicia to say such a thing proved she had absolute confidence in her Witchcraft.
Sure enough, the ground beneath the white mist began to freeze. A layer of ice spread outward with her at the center. This time, it wasn’t a thin layer of frost, but solid, thick ice that gave off a faint Blue glow.
The arena floor, the inner walls of the protective shield, and even the moisture in the air were all freezing over.
Chen Shang’s feet slipped. He immediately attached One-Element Heavy Water to the soles of his shoes, using the surface tension of the Water to stabilize his center of gravity. However, in this extremely low-temperature environment, the combustion efficiency of his Samadhi True Flame noticeably dropped.
The Flame was a fraction of its usual size, and its color shifted from bright Gold to a somewhat dimmer hue.
When an Ice Mage cast spells within a Frost Domain, their Magic Power consumption was halved, and their Power was doubled. Alicia’s Ice Blade grew at a visible rate within the domain, going from paper-thin to two fingers wide.
But the doubts in Chen Shang’s mind grew stronger. He wondered why his opponent was expending so much effort just to alter the ecological environment of the battlefield.
Although everyone knew that fighting in a corresponding Element’s environment would greatly enhance the Power of that specific Elemental Witchcraft while weakening countering ones, performing such an environmental transformation individually required massive amounts of Magic Power and Spiritual Power to maintain. More often than not, the losses outweighed the gains.
Chen Shang didn’t have time to study it in detail, but he knew there was likely a catch. Thus, he was unwilling to trade blows with Alicia inside the Frost Domain.
So, he reached out his hand and splayed his fingers.
Divine Technique: Call Wind!
Cyan-white air currents seemed to appear out of thin air, stripping away from every basic object before gathering together. A storm gradually whipped up, carrying the cold air from the Frost Domain and pushing it toward the ceiling of the arena.
As the cold air was forcefully shoved upward, warm air from around the arena rushed in to replace it, forming a slowly rotating cyclone in the center of the ring.
The cyclone disrupted Alicia’s Frost Domain, significantly slowing the spread of the ice.
"Is that Wind Witchcraft? Isn’t he specialized in Water and Fire?" someone in the audience gasped softly.
"I’m not sure, but he clearly doesn’t want to let Alicia alter the frost environment," another replied.
"The Witchcraft Level of that spell isn’t low. Just how many types of Witchcraft does this guy know? Where does he get all this time?"
Back on the arena, although her environmental transformation had been interrupted, Alicia’s eyes lit up when she saw Call Wind. She seemed to want to say something but ultimately held back.
She focused her Concentration on the battle. No longer attempting to maintain a domain-wide frost environment, she pulled her Power back in, centralizing it around Chen Shang.
In an instant, countless hair-thin ice spikes condensed. As dense as a Blizzard, they shot toward Chen Shang from all directions, sealing off all his routes of retreat.
