Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through
Chapter 464 - 343: I... Am the Sun
Early morning, on the rooftop of the Jiangzhou City Superpower Management Bureau Headquarters.
The rotors of three black helicopters kicked up a gale, whipping the hems of everyone’s clothes about.
Wei Song stood beside the foremost helicopter, his dark blue uniform unmoving in the morning wind.
Behind him stood twenty-four Superpower Users in identical uniforms.
Four Level Three Grandmasters and twenty Level Two Controllers, each with a sharp gaze and a steady presence.
They were the elites, personally selected by Wei Song from various cities throughout Jiangnan Province.
Among them were two familiar faces: Zhou Zhen, and the girl who had once warned him, "The authorities are on their way."
Her real name was unknown, but her codename was Ling Xi. She had unexpectedly experienced an Awakening and gained an extremely rare Perception Talent.
Now a Level Two Controller, she too had been brought over by Wei Song.
"Reporting, General Wei! Everyone is present and accounted for!"
Zhou Zhen stepped forward and saluted, his voice booming.
In over eight years, he had advanced from the Initial Stage of a Level Three Grandmaster to the Middle Stage.
He was now one of Wei Song’s most capable operations leaders.
Wei Song nodded, his gaze sweeping over the assembled team.
"Have you all read the mission briefing?"
"We have!" twenty-four voices replied in unison.
"Fifty kilometers northwest of Shenfeng City. New Rift. Infiltration by the Abyssal Child."
"Our objective is to... purify the Rift and eliminate the Cult."
Wei Song’s expression was grim, his tone calm.
"I have only one requirement of you: obey orders, and come back alive."
"Yes, sir!"
"Move out."
「7:40 AM. Shenfeng City Management Bureau Temporary Command Center.」
The local director was a Level Three Grandmaster with graying hair, surnamed Chen. His face was haggard and his eyes were sunken.
Upon seeing Wei Song enter with his team, he immediately shot to his feet and hurried over to greet them.
"General Wei, you’re finally here!"
His voice was hoarse, thick with exhaustion and... a hint of relief.
"What’s the situation?" Wei Song cut straight to the chase, forgoing any pleasantries.
"Bluestone Town... is empty."
Grandmaster Chen walked over to the electronic sand table, his finger tapping a red dot in the northwest corner.
"Three days ago, we sent a team inside. The leader was also a Level Three Grandmaster."
"When he returned... he was mentally unstable. He’s in isolation now."
He glanced from side to side, his voice dropping low.
"That Grandmaster just kept muttering... ’Eyes.’"
Wei Song’s gaze hardened. ’Exactly like the reports in the file.’
"Is anyone still alive in the town?"
"We haven’t found any," Grandmaster Chen said, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
"We don’t dare send anyone else in. The Energy Monitors show that the contamination concentration in the town center... is approaching that of a Level Four Rift."
"We even... faintly detected three energy signatures at the Grandmaster Level."
A cold glint flashed in Wei Song’s eyes. ’Three Grandmasters...’
’In the Abyssal Child Cult, that’s the equivalent of a Bishop-Level figure.’
"Take us to the site."
"Now?" Grandmaster Chen was stunned. "General Wei, shouldn’t we draw up a plan first...?"
"Not necessary." Wei Song cut him off, turning to the team behind him.
"Ling Xi, activate the Spiritual Shield Field. Zhou Zhen, you take Squad One and advance from the front. Everyone else, split into three groups and flank from the sides."
Wei Song’s commands were concise and forceful. "Remember: if you spot a Contaminator, kill on sight. Leave no one alive."
"Sir!"
At the entrance to Bluestone Town, the morning fog had not yet dispersed.
The doors and windows of the houses lining the street were tightly shut, some of their glass shattered.
A thick stench of decay hung in the air. Here and there on the ground were dark red stains, long since dried, but their edges still emanated a faint Energy fluctuation.
’The scent of Contaminators...’
Wei Song muttered to himself as an incandescent white light flashed deep within his pupils.
He activated his Thermal Perception, and the world in his vision instantly changed color.
Houses, streets, trees... all of it shed its original contours, transforming into a map of varying temperatures.
Most of the area was an icy blue, indicating no signs of life.
But in the center of town, there were three... blazing, dark-red masses.
Their temperature was at least fifty degrees higher than their surroundings, like three burning hearts.
’Judging by the Energy fluctuations... Level Four, Initial Stage.’
’To think they’re actually hiding here. They really have a death wish.’
Wei Song stopped and raised his right hand. The team behind him instantly fanned out, taking up defensive positions.
Zhou Zhen lowered his voice. "General, what’s the play?"
"I’ll handle the three Level Four Contaminators."
Wei Song’s tone was calm, as if he were discussing something trivial.
"You clean up the rest. Watch out for spiritual contamination."
The instant the words left his mouth, his form blurred into a streak of orange-red light!
HISS!
The air tore with a piercing shriek, and the glass windows on both sides of the street simultaneously shattered!
In the center of town, the three dark-red presences shuddered in unison.
They had clearly sensed the danger, but it was too late.
Wei Song appeared in front of the first two-story building, thrusting his palm forward.
VMMMM!
An incandescent white orb condensed in his palm, instantly swelling to the size of a fist.
Its internal temperature skyrocketed—one thousand degrees, two thousand, five thousand...
Its color shifted from incandescent white to golden-red, just like a miniature sun!
"Thermonuclear Core: Fusion Impact."
He let out a low cry and thrust his palm forward.
The golden-red orb shot from his hand, and the air in its wake distorted and boiled!
The instant the orb touched the building’s wall.
There was no sound. Only... melting.
The melting of everything!
Brick, concrete, steel rebar... all matter was instantly vaporized upon contact with the orb.
The wall vanished without a sound, revealing a figure within wearing a dark purple Long Robe.
The figure had its back to the opening, kneeling before a twisted altar.
On the altar were arranged dozens of human heads.
All of the eyes had been gouged from the heads, and black candles were thrust into the sockets, their flames flickering.
The robed figure slowly turned, revealing a face... that could no longer be called "human."
