Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 562 - 399: Mad Witch Wholesale
Chapter 562: Chapter 399: Mad Witch Wholesale
Isaac and Moens exchanged a stunned look when they saw the reply from the Truth Association.
After all, this was a Tier Six Mage!
Moens’s massive project was still just going through the application process, whereas they were already looking for a suitable Tier Six Mage for Isaac’s. The disparity was huge!
However, after their initial shock, the two felt it was only natural. After all, the research delved into the very nature of Mad Witches; its value was incredibly high.
Not to mention, Isaac had also included two proposals concerning Arcanists—one was a method similar to an advanced version of Emperor Philo’s Decree. Instead of playing along with the Outer Gods, the Arcanist would simply pull out the Token once the ritual began and force a confrontation.
This would allow one to coerce the Outer God into completing the transaction, enabling Arcanists to embark on this unique path of the Mad Witch.
However, this approach was incredibly risky. Even an organization as powerful as the Truth Association couldn’t rashly approve such a decision.
Fortunately, there was a second option: transacting with True Gods.
This second plan was far more feasible than the first. While the Truth Association might lack the power and audacity to suppress all Outer Gods—or perhaps even all Deities—negotiating with a few True Gods was another matter. It could easily arrange for them to facilitate safe transactions for a select group of Arcanists.
Although Wizards and Deities maintained a subtly antagonistic relationship on the whole, the Deities were a vast collective. Even the True Gods were not a monolith; a few were willing to cooperate with Wizards.
In fact, compared to the nature of the Mad Witch, *this* was the aspect the Truth Association valued most.
If the experiment succeeded, the transitional period for Arcanists on the verge of becoming Legendary Mages would be significantly shortened. Moreover, the likelihood of producing true powerhouses would be much higher!
It could even further accelerate the advancement of the Age of Wizards!
This was no exaggeration; it was a fact.
If this concept proved successful, Demigod Mages would only need to find Deities who possessed Wizard Core Authorities and get them to "voluntarily" agree to a transaction...
Certain Authorities could provide an enormous boost to a Wizard—the Analysis Authority, for example.
Take Avin, for example. Under normal circumstances, his chances of independently developing a Great Arcane Art to become a Grand Arcanist were practically zero. But with the Analysis Authority, his probability of successfully creating his own Great Arcane Art would increase by at least thirty percent.
Thirty percent was not a small number.
As long as he worked hard and found some way to extend his life, living long enough to independently develop a Great Arcane Art would be a virtual certainty.
Furthermore, it could improve relations between Wizards and Deities. A win-win partnership was always better than one side holding all the power. After all, the Path of Divinity still had its own unique merits.
Isaac and Moens didn’t dwell on these deeper implications, however. ’Why worry about all that? You deal with problems at your own level.’ Their primary objective now was to figure out how to best use the first batch of approved funding to advance their current research.
After a moment of thought, Isaac said, "I’ll handle the optimization of the rituals and get them ready as soon as possible. Personnel selection is up to you. On the Legendary Mage side, I have a few people I’ve already picked out, and I’ll request the rest from the Flesh Sect. But when it comes to the Arcanists, I’m counting on you."
Moens nodded. The arrangement was sound.
The two didn’t discuss Moens’s own Star Creation experiment. They both knew perfectly well that its progress had stalled. There were only two ways to achieve a breakthrough: one, to continue building satellites and perhaps even attempt to build a planet.
This would allow them to collect more critical data and obtain the results they were looking for.
But that was a bottomless pit. The cost of creating a planet was astronomical, and their remaining funds were nowhere near enough. As for footing the bill themselves...
Their combined net worth could, at best, fund two more satellites.
It still wouldn’t be enough.
After briefly dividing the tasks, the two went their separate ways to continue their research.
In truth, their current research dynamic didn’t resemble a normal collaboration. It couldn’t be helped. Both wanted to cooperate more deeply, but the disparity between their Magic Systems was too great. They needed to keep looking for the right opportunity and find a way to better sync up.
After Isaac left, Moens sat in his chair, flipping through a list of Arcanists to select suitable candidates for Isaac’s experiment. After a moment, his gaze landed on Avin’s file.
Recalling the rumors about Avin, Moens couldn’t help but nod. ’This guy has to get a spot,’ he thought. ’He’s just too perfect for it!’
The more Moens considered Avin, the more suitable he seemed. However, he didn’t immediately assign him to the project. Instead, he planned to compile a full list of candidates first and then speak with each of them individually.
Ultimately, the decision to participate in the experiment had to be their own.
After all, the Truth Association was a legitimate organization; they didn’t resort to coercion. Everything was based on the principle of voluntary participation.
’Well,’ he mused, ’not quite the same as the "voluntary" principle applied to Deities.’
...
"Congratulations. You have the opportunity to become a Mad Witch."
「Two days later.」
In Moens’s workshop, Avin was completely dumbfounded by the words. ’What is going on? How do I have an opportunity to become a Mad Witch? And since when is that something to be congratulated for?’
Still reeling, Avin took the file Moens handed him. As he read it, his pupils contracted. ’So, that’s what he meant...’
