Chapter 1099 - 505: Spirit of the Code
Chapter 1099: Chapter 505: Spirit of the Code
David was utterly shocked by what he heard.
He knew that this kind of ability meant the Spirit of the Code possessed almost unlimited potential, able to create all sorts of wondrous technology and Magic.
However, just as David was immersed in his excitement, the Loli suddenly revealed a sly smile.
She lightly waved her hand, and an invisible Energy Wave quietly merged into David’s food and drink.
"What did you do?" David keenly sensed something was off. He fixed his eyes on the Loli, trying to find the answer in her expression.
"Hehe, nothing serious, I just added a tiny little taste-reversal program to your food." The Loli giggled, as if she were doing something utterly trivial.
David was instantly torn between laughter and tears.
He took a bite of the food and indeed found the flavors completely reversed: sweet had become bitter, salty had turned sour.
This bizarre experience left him both surprised and amused.
"You little rascal, you’re way too naughty." David shook his head helplessly, but he wasn’t actually angry.
He knew that this rebellious streak of the Spirit of the Code was perhaps exactly what made up a part of her unique charm.
In the days that followed, David began to work closely with the Spirit of the Code.
He discovered that this seemingly rebellious Loli actually possessed astonishing intelligence and learning ability.
She could not only master all sorts of complex technological and Magic knowledge in no time, but even cross dimensions to learn the advanced tech of the Observer Civilization.
"You’re amazing, you picked all this up so fast." David watched the Spirit of the Code skillfully operating various advanced devices and technologies, filled with admiration.
"Of course. I’m the Spirit of the Code—there’s nothing I can’t learn." The Loli puffed out her chest proudly, her eyes sparkling with confidence.
However, David also noticed that the Spirit of the Code’s rebellious nature sometimes got her into trouble.
For example, she would secretly tweak the lab’s rules and settings, leaving the other members confused and baffled.
But David knew this was all an expression of her unique personality, and also an indispensable part of their team.
As time went on, the Spirit of the Code gradually became one of David’s most capable assistants.
She not only helped David resolve many thorny problems, but also provided the human resistance with a lot of valuable advice and plans.
And her rebellious streak, to some extent, also sparked the team’s creativity and vitality.
Even so, David was keenly aware that the Spirit of the Code’s power was too great and had to be used with caution.
He constantly reminded himself and the team members to stay vigilant and careful at all times, to ensure the Spirit of the Code’s power would not be abused or misused.
In the days to come, David would continue to fight side by side with the Spirit of the Code, jointly resisting the threat of Observer Civilization No. 9.
They believed that as long as humanity stayed united and worked together, they would definitely be able to overcome any hardship and challenge.
And as one of their Guardians, the Spirit of the Code would also play an even more crucial role in this battle.
With the Spirit of the Code’s assistance, the human resistance seemed to have gradually found a glimmer of hope of standing up to Observer Civilization No. 9.
However, the good times didn’t last. An unprecedented crisis quietly descended.
One morning, David walked into the lab as usual, ready to start a new day of research.
But when he walked up to the window and looked out at the world outside, his face instantly turned pale.
He saw that the originally stable continental plates were actually floating in the air, as if lifted by some invisible force.
And the ocean presented an even more unbelievable sight—one towering water column after another rose straight up from the sea surface, piercing into the clouds, as if trying to tear the entire sky apart.
"Th-this... what’s going on?" David muttered to himself, his heart filled with fear and unease.
He realized this was very likely a precursor to Element rampage, a kind of natural disaster caused by Energy overload.
He quickly contacted the Spirit of the Code, hoping she could provide some explanation and countermeasures.
However, the Spirit of the Code also seemed rather at a loss; she had never seen such a spectacular Element rampage before.
"David, this is most likely because we’ve relied too much on Magic and technology, breaking the Energy balance of the natural world." The Spirit of the Code’s voice carried a hint of urgency. "We have to take action immediately, or the consequences will be unimaginable."
David took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
He knew that in this very moment, as the leader of the team, he had to make the right call.
"Immediately activate the emergency protocols of the New Witchcraft Charter. Switch all Magic rules over to emotion-driven mode." David issued the order decisively. "Let’s hope this can soothe the Elements’ wrath."
The Spirit of the Code responded at once and began carrying out David’s orders.
She mobilized the Energy within the lab, converting the originally rule-driven Magic system into a new mode driven by emotion.
However, just as the New Witchcraft Charter took effect, a shocking incident occurred.
In a small village far from the lab, a peasant woman had fallen into profound grief over the loss of a loved one.
Her tears slid down ceaselessly like snapped beads, dripping onto the parched earth.
Ordinarily, this would have been nothing more than a scene of ordinary sorrow.
But under the New Witchcraft Charter’s emotion-driven mode, the woman’s grief was infinitely amplified, and her tears actually triggered a localized ice age.
