Chapter 1300: Chapter 605: Hourglass of Time Shatters (Part 2)
At the moment when the powers of both sides were about to collide and explode in a matter of life and death, an elderly and gentle voice pierced through the void: "Cease! Blind persistence will ultimately lead to eternal catastrophe."
With the voice descending, a gentle golden light poured in from the gaps of time and space, bringing a brief tranquility to all those engulfed in the brutal battle. It was a symbol of human hope transcending the cycle of life and death, an eternal song of unyielding resistance against fate!
David clenched his fists tightly, realizing that he had become a crucial point in guiding this grand historical process:
"I cannot escape, nor can I submit. I must harness the Chaos Core, guiding the ’World Anchor’ towards its rightful destination.
As long as belief exists, there is no fate that cannot be resisted!"
With his vow, invisible energy gathered into a magnificent holy flame, erupting from his fingertips and merging with the tumultuous time-space ripples within the corridors.
A human will, transcending the boundaries of past and future, resonating with both suffering and glory, finally awakened...
David stood at the entrance of this temporal rift, where ethereal light and shadows interchanged, resembling the reversal of the starry river, akin to dream fragments shattering and reassembling.
He slowly closed his eyes, sensing the suffocating pressure of time and space rushing towards him, each breath seemingly inhaling countless forgotten memories and shattered times.
Suddenly, his vision blurred, and scenes of bygone darkness flooded in like a deluge.
It was the night of his family’s destruction in childhood. Flames reddened the skies, the sound of collapsing walls thundered endlessly, combining screams and cries into an indelible nightmare.
David saw himself as a young child, curled up amidst the burning rubble, helpless and fearful. Despair, at that moment, was as piercing as ice.
Blood-red shadows flickered on the walls, resurrecting the sting of betrayal and abandonment from years past in his heart.
"These are...inner demons," he murmured softly, acknowledging the pain that once tried to drown him, making him lose himself.
He clenched his fists tightly, feeling the chill invading his body, yet steadfastly opened his eyes, using his will to withstand this nightmare of memory.
As the inner spell resounded, a pure light burst forth from his chest, akin to the dawn piercing the gloom of night.
He concentrated and gathered Qi, slicing through all chaotic illusions.
This power originated deep within the Chaos Core, yet it merged with the source of life and resilient belief—a true awakening of "real vision."
A newly awakened ability that could penetrate false illusions and perceive the essence of truth.
Upon opening his eyes, David found himself amidst an uneven, layer upon layer of geometric space.
This place resembled a vast and intricately constructed magic maze, where every path seemed to connect with different time fragments, yet contained hidden traps and mechanisms. A moment of inattention could lead to eternal entrapment, with no escape.
The air was filled with a dusk-like chilly aura, and from afar, intermittent whispers could be faintly heard.
The whispers were laced with threat and temptation, like ancient souls recounting unresolved mysteries, or like the Fate Weaver singing endless songs of fatality, shaking one’s mind and making it hard to decide.
Gazing intently at the projected patterns, the coordinates of the "World Anchor" emerged increasingly clear, revealing its core position: a massive hourglass-shaped arcane device stood in the center, emitting a blend of ethereal blue and dark purple light.
This hourglass seemed like a device swallowing the flow of time, dropping shimmering particles continuously. With each cycle, it pulled the rhythm of time and space, altering its trajectory, known as the "Hourglass of Time."
However, what shocked David more was that atop the hourglass, a shadowy figure in a black robe stood, its face concealed in shadows, revealing only cold, glimmering eyes slyly surveying the surroundings.
The "Pope’s Avatar" was using this device to control the anchor’s operation, tightly holding vast forbidden energy in its grasp!
The scene made the air abruptly freeze, like a heavy iron hammer striking the soul’s abyss.
The enemies and conspiracies of the past now became clear, more horrifying and real than any rumor.
The Pope not only wielded the Faith Staff but also manipulated the key pivot within the laws of the cosmos!
David bit his teeth lightly, divine holy flames slowly igniting across his body. The flames spread to his fingertips, transforming the cold illusion into warmth.
He realized: "Only by destroying this ’Hourglass of Time’ and severing the Pope’s Avatar’s control over the ’World Anchor’ can we possibly turn the tide."
But at that moment, the maze paths constantly changed, numerous illusions tried to trap his consciousness, making every step forward filled with peril.
Those past memories transformed into temptation and fear, continuously eroding the boundaries of his rationality, forcing him to rely on the awakened real vision to discern truth from falsity, lest he falls eternally into it, unable to extricate himself.
Each step taken was accompanied by the chilling sharp rune cutting through the void, emitting a resonant roar, with the hall barriers seeming alive, resisting the intruder.
Still, David, with firm determination, sought the only clue leading to the core exit amidst the illusion storm, knowing that this was not only a battle of power but also a test of the limits of faith and will!
The stars faintly shone on the gradually clearing path, where life runes and frost engravings intertwined into protective nets, resisting part of the attacks.
Meanwhile, Lucia provided remote assistance, stabilizing the external time threads with the arcane array, aiding substantive exploration within;
Liya, alongside the team, was ready to break through the final obstacles; Cynthia guarded the rear with stern vigilance, ensuring the safety of the passage; Hill led the army to suppress the remaining enemies, preventing reinforcements from approaching...
The air grew increasingly thin, but the spirit became clearer and more lucid.
Each defeat of inner demons, and the capture of faint order rhythm within the chaos storm, seemed to bring them closer to the ultimate secret, reinforcing all guardians’ belief in victory.
The air on the 7th Floor of the Abyss seemed to be imbued with thick darkness and corrosive forces, with chaos and void intertwining into a bizarre black sea.
The labyrinth path beneath David’s feet twisted and changed, enveloped by an oppressive sense of suffocation, as though ready to be swallowed by invisible black tides at any moment.
His gaze was sharp, as he advanced step by step through this domain where illusions and reality intertwined, approaching the giant "Hourglass of Time."
The hourglass stood at the vast, shattered platform center, its glow of blue and purple entwining like undead stars shimmering in the abyss.
The hourglass dropped stardust-like luminescent particles, with each droplet seeming to steer the subtle fluctuations of spatial rifts, while the shadow cloaked at the top was the Pope’s Avatar, the most terrifying and cunning shadow existence.
The Pope’s Avatar coldly observed David, its eyes as sharp as ice blades, emitting killing intent.
It was surrounded by numerous slender and twisted tendrils, extending like tentacles to various points in space, those tendrils writhed carrying destructive time-space energy ripples, unceasingly eroding and capturing the outside world.
"Foolish human," the Pope’s Avatar whispered, as if its voice emanated from the depths of hell, "Do you think the chaos power alone can threaten me?
This ’Hourglass of Time’ is one of heaven and earth’s foundational elements, I will use it to tear the void, making all yield to my will!"
Before the voice fully faded, an unstoppable battle suddenly erupted.
Hill, leading the Witch Rider Corps, charged onto the battlefield with thunderous momentum.
They donned silver armor, forming a sharp cold light within this dark abyss.
Sword blades sliced through the air, each strike generating dazzling sparks, colliding with the extending and corrosive tendrils, causing deafening echoes.
The Witch Riders held firm gazes, unfearful of the evil forces shrouding them, wielding weapons to combat those twisted forms from the abyss demons, filled with spreading power from wicked law.
Sparks flew, frost runes glimmered, magic energy roared; for a moment, heaven and earth seemed tainted with blood and frost from this brutal melee.
Hill was like a tiger descending the mountain, his body bursting with astonishing power, each slash executed with precision, mercilessly severing the Pope’s Avatar’s tendril links, that sought to firmly control the rules of space-time.
