Chapter 1279 - 513: Resentment Gold and Native Gods (Part 2)
Chapter 1279: Chapter 513: Resentment Gold and Native Gods (Part 2)
When the tweezers touched the surface of the tar, the [Spirit Realm Perception] was triggered.
Ron’s consciousness was engulfed as if by a giant wave and plunged into a historical fragment filled with blood and despair...
He "stood" at the edge of a massive open-pit mine.
This was a tar mine.
The sky was a sickly yellow-green, and two stars were shrouded by the heavy industrial smoke, emitting only a faint blood-red glow.
The mine stretched downward like a wound in the earth, with the darkness of the Abyss at the bottom unseen, intermittently resonating with the sound of metal clashing and machines roaring.
At this moment, a brutal uprising was unfolding here.
Tens of thousands of "coal smoke workers" were surging from all directions towards the fortresses surrounding the mine.
Their weapons were a motley collection—modified industrial tools, makeshift swords and knives, even steel pipes and iron bars wrenched by hand from machines.
The same fire burned on every face: anger born from despair.
"So we no longer live on our knees!"
A miner leader with a copper prosthetic eye embedded in his forehead raised his arms high:
"So that our children can hold their heads high as humans!"
"Overthrow the rule of the vampires!"
"Take back the tar that belongs to us!"
The shout of tens of thousands of people merged into a thunderous roar, shaking the earth with their anger.
But the enemies they faced were equally terrifying.
The private soldiers of the "High Furnace nobles" who guarded the mine were already waiting in full armor.
The elite warriors known as "Single Gold Warriors" wore heavy armor made entirely of gold, each exuding a furnace-like heat.
Even more terrifying were the three "All Gold Warriors" at their forefront—the highest combat power among the High Furnace nobles.
These beings had completely replaced their flesh with active metal.
They were no longer human but killing machines forged for the purpose of war.
The battle began with an overwhelming disadvantage.
The weapons of ordinary miners were like toys against the metal armor of the "Single Gold Warriors".
Every strike from an "All Gold Warrior" easily claimed dozens of lives.
Ron "saw" the most tragic scene on the battlefield:
A young "Copper Arm" miner tried to attack an "All Gold Warrior" with a modified steam hammer.
But the opponent merely waved a hand lightly, and the young man’s body was torn to pieces by an invisible field.
"This is the difference between noble and base." The "All Gold Warrior" looked coldly at the blood on the ground:
"A worm is always just a worm, no matter how it struggles, it cannot change its essence."
As the rebel army was about to collapse entirely, some strange figures appeared on the battlefield.
They were a group of mysterious warriors Ron had never seen before.
Their bodies were also modified with metal.
But it was not the pure metal of the nobles, but a dark alloy with an ominous aura.
"Resentment Gold." Ron read the essence of this material through historical information.
These warriors were forged from metal burning with resentment and despair, and though their quality was far inferior to the nobles’ pure gold equipment, they contained a more terrifying power.
It was a destructive energy capable of standing equal to the "All Gold Warriors".
"Brothers!"
The leading "Resentful Gold Warrior" raised a warhammer cast from black metal:
"Let these vampires taste our pain!"
The battle took a turn in an instant.
Though "Resentment Gold" was not as physically durable as pure gold, the contamination it carried left the "All Gold Warriors" helpless.
Every clash of weapons left an irreparable ’scar of resentment’ on the surface of the metal.
Crucially, the "Resentful Gold Warriors" seemed to possess some special ability.
They could "hear" the voices of their fallen comrades and transform these voices into actual combat bonuses.
With each additional fallen warrior on the battlefield, they grew even stronger.
Suddenly, Ron "heard" a conversation containing critical information.
A severely wounded "All Gold Warrior" cried out in despair to the heavens and earth:
"’Soul of Steel’! ’Iron Heart’! Why have you forsaken your people!"
"We gave everything! Flesh, soul, even our dignity as humans!"
"Why, when we need power most, has the blessing vanished?"
These words made Ron ponder deeply.
Judging by this, this world should have some Native Gods.
The reason the High Furnace nobles could control the power of metal was not entirely dependent on technology but through a covenant relationship with the Native Gods.
Otherwise, these so-called "All Gold Warriors" may be powerful, but they’re at most equivalent to formidable Morning Star Levels.
Even if there are hidden strong figures, they shouldn’t surpass the Dark Sun Level...
But looking at Vinard, it seemed he only dared to conduct some maneuvers in the dark.
The historical vision began to dissipate, and Ron’s consciousness returned to reality.
The energy tweezers in his hand were still at work, a small area on the surface of the tar was already purified clean.
Yet more doubts churned in his heart:
What role exactly was Vinard playing in this world?
What exactly were those mysterious "Soul of Steel" and "Iron Heart"?
And why did Vinard specifically want him to purify these contaminants?
As he immersed himself in thought, Vinard’s voice came through the communicator:
"It seems you’ve already touched the ’core area’."
There was a certain satisfaction in the tone:
"Tell me, Ralph, what did you see in those residual memories?"
This question sounded a loud alarm in Ron’s mind.
It was clear that Vinard already knew that these pollutants contained historical information and may have deliberately arranged for him to engage in such "observation."
