Chapter 434: Chapter 434: After I Said I Would Marry Someone Else, the Crown Prince Exploded

The next day, a round, red sun rose in the east.

Shen Ningning had just come down from Wolf Mountain and hadn’t yet had the chance to tell Grandma Qin that she was getting married.

The little girl had decided to keep it a secret when she returned home yesterday, wanting to surprise her grandmother.

Last night, she had hugged the Black Wolf King and said, "Isn’t Grandma worried she won’t live to see me get married? Well, I’ll get married just for her to see."

It was just about inviting a lot of people over for a lively party anyway.

"Today with Lu Shaoyuan, tomorrow with Brother, and the day after tomorrow, maybe with Ye Shangyi!" she said, counting the days on her little fingers.

’If I get married every day, I can have a big feast every day!’

The Black Wolf King stared at the little girl’s milky-white face with its deep, dark eyes, looking puzzled.

’Is marriage really what my precious little Ningning described?’

So, early this morning, the Black Wolf King followed close behind Shen Ningning.

The entire pack had gathered last night to discuss it. They concluded that marriage was definitely not as simple as the little girl thought.

Shen Ningning was about to enter Xiangyun Village when she heard a youthful voice call out from a short distance away—

"Shen Ningning!"

The little girl turned to look.

Under the bright, full sunlight, Mo Lingwei stood by a horse-drawn carriage, dressed in ink-blue robes. He frowned and beckoned to her.

Shen Ningning ran over happily.

"Brother, I was just thinking about whether I should go look for you later!"

"You were looking for me? What were you going to say?" For a moment, Shen Ningning wondered if she was imagining it, but Mo Lingwei’s tone seemed tinged with suppressed anger, as if he were gritting his teeth.

She blinked her big eyes, her dimples showing in a faint smile. "I’m going to invite you to watch me get married!"

Mo Lingwei let out a cold sneer, as if he had expected as much.

"With whom? Lu Shaoyuan?"

"That’s right! Tomorrow it can be with you, and the day after with Changyi." Shen Ningning thought her plan was perfect. She tilted her little face up, her smile innocent and bright, waiting for Mo Lingwei to praise her brilliant little mind.

Mo Lingwei rarely got angry in front of her.

But now, hearing the little girl’s words, his handsome face darkened completely, his eyes turning as cold as ice.

Shen Ningning saw his throat bob a few times, as if he were suppressing some great anger.

After a moment, Mo Lingwei abruptly lifted the carriage curtain. "Get inside first. I’ll tell you what a muddle-headed mistake you almost made."

Shen Ningning blinked her big eyes twice, confused.

Still, she obediently said, "Oh," and climbed into the carriage.

Mo Lingwei followed right behind her.

Inside the carriage were two sets of wedding attire, a brilliant red and incredibly beautiful.

Shen Ningning was surprised. "It’s this kind of outfit! When Aunt Sanhua and Uncle Deng got married, she wore this."

As she spoke, the little girl looked at him with a pleasant surprise, her big, sparkling eyes blinking.

"Brother, you’re so nice. Did you know I was getting married to Lu Shaoyuan and come especially to bring me clothes?"

Mo Lingwei could no longer contain the rage erupting from his heart. He exploded:

"I’ll send him to his grave!!!"

Shen Ningning froze.

Mo Lingwei felt like he was about to start fuming.

’How did Shen Ningning get so good at infuriating people as she grew up?’

’Does she take me for some kind of idiot? She’s marrying someone else, and she thinks I would eagerly come to deliver her wedding dress?’

’I’m not crazy.’

If he hadn’t investigated, he never would have known that she had misunderstood the meaning of marriage. She had probably just seen how lively Dong Sanhua’s wedding was, thought it was fun, and wanted to imitate it.

If she really had wanted to marry Lu Shaoyuan, then Mo Lingwei would have made Lu Shaoyuan disappear from the Capital City for good.

Shen Ningning didn’t understand why he was angry.

"What’s wrong?"

"You’re asking me what’s wrong? Shen Ningning, do you have any idea what getting married actually means? It’s not as simple as you think."

Outside the carriage, the Black Wolf King heard Mo Lingwei’s words, each one like a blade of ice, his tone cold and severe.

Fearing that this wretched boy would be harsh with their Ningning, its massive body drew closer to the carriage to eavesdrop from outside.

It terrified the horses pulling the carriage so much that they knelt on the ground.

Inside the carriage, Mo Lingwei fought back his anger and explained to Shen Ningning.

"Getting married isn’t just a lively, fun event. After you marry, you have to call each other ’husband’ and ’wife’!"

"I know. It’s fun."

"Fun? It’s about two people forming a family! For example, if you married me, you would be my wife, and my father would become your father too!"

"Isn’t Uncle Emperor very nice? Brother, don’t worry, it’ll be your turn tomorrow. We’ll all play together. Everyone gets a turn."

Shen Ningning spread her little hands, looking exasperated.

She finally understood. Mo Lingwei was angry because he thought she didn’t want to play with him.

But Mo Lingwei just gritted his teeth and roared, "SHEN! NING! NING!"

The little girl flinched, startled by his expression.

She had never seen him look like this before, his eyes filled with hostility and his brows fiercely sharp.

"We can talk about it, but why are you being so mean?" Shen Ningning turned away, feeling wronged. ’It’s not like I wasn’t going to let him play, so why is he throwing a tantrum?’

Mo Lingwei froze, then pinched the bridge of his nose, a headache coming on.

He tried again, patiently coaxing her:

"Because this isn’t a game everyone can play together. It’s a very serious matter. Let me ask you, after your mother married your father, could she marry a second person just for fun?"

"Of course not! They already have three children!" Shen Ningning answered this question quickly.

Mo Lingwei nodded and looked at her. "Then why do you think getting married is just for fun? If you marry Lu Shaoyuan, how can you then marry me?"

Shen Ningning blinked her big eyes, a little confused. "But Lu Shaoyuan and I don’t have any children."

Mo Lingwei almost ascended to the heavens out of sheer anger.

’She really has the nerve to say that!’

’Having children? In her dreams!’

Mo Lingwei realized he wasn’t getting through to her.

So, he pointed at the two wedding outfits in the carriage.

"You want to get married today, right? I brought the clothes. You’ll marry me."

"Huh? But I already asked Lu Shaoyuan..."

"He can’t make it," Mo Lingwei said irritably. With a dark expression, he started pulling on the wedding robe and putting it on in a hurry.

Just as he was pondering whether to throw Lu Shaoyuan into the Great Desert or banish him to the blizzard-swept Youzhou when he got back, Shen Ningning picked up the large wedding dress.

"This dress is too long. I don’t think I can wear it."

"Of course you can’t wear it," Mo Lingwei said coldly.

He had found this outfit on short notice. Shen Ningning was only ten years old; where would he find a wedding dress that fit her?

This had been Mo Lingwei’s last resort.

He had already planned for it: if Shen Ningning insisted on getting married, it could only be with him.

Unexpectedly, Shen Ningning hugged the wedding dress, looking dejected.

"I’m too small. If I were a little bigger, I could wear it and look very pretty."

Mo Lingwei was already tying his sash. Dressed in the red robe, he exuded a wild, untamable air unique to a young man his age.

He paid no mind to Shen Ningning’s muttering.

Just as he was looking down to adjust the hem of his robe, he heard the little girl start to sob.

Mo Lingwei’s long, slender fingers froze. He looked up. "Why are you crying?"

Shen Ningning clutched the wedding dress. "Grandma said that by the time I get married, she won’t be in this world anymore. So I want her to see me get married. I don’t want her to have any regrets."

"But I’m still too small. It won’t look pretty on me, so how can I make Grandma believe that I’m happy getting married? Grandma dotes on me the most. She’s afraid I’ll be unhappy, and then getting married wouldn’t be a fun thing at all."

Seeing her pretty face covered in clear tears, Mo Lingwei froze. The fire in his heart was extinguished in an instant, leaving only wisps of smoke.

He was stunned.

So that was it. Shen Ningning’s understanding of marriage was all about not leaving Grandma Qin with any regrets.

She didn’t care about the true nature of marriage; the little girl just wanted to make Grandma Qin happy.

Mo Lingwei slowly took her hand, using his other large hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks.

"Grandma Qin will live a long life. She will personally witness the day you get married, and she will see that you have truly married joy and happiness."

Shen Ningning leaned into his arms, sobbing.

Hearing this commotion from outside, the Black Wolf King grew anxious.

It stood up and pulled aside the hanging curtain with its paw.

It saw Mo Lingwei dressed in a red robe while Shen Ningning clutched a wedding dress in her small hands, her face covered in tears.

The Black Wolf King’s claws shot out with a SWISH.

’Is this wretched boy forcing her to marry him?!’

’It must be him! He’s the one who tricked our precious little Ningning into this marriage thing!!!’

The Black Wolf King let out a ferocious ROAR and lunged forward, its massive, blood-red jaws snapping at him.
