Wolf-Raised Cub with a Space: Surviving the Disaster Years
Chapter 465: Princess Funing’s Kill Shot
Chapter 465: Chapter 465: Princess Funing’s Kill Shot
The situation was critical. The guard driving the carriage outside drew his longsword, swinging it to knock away the hidden arrows.
Even so, he was soon struck in the shoulder by an arrow. From the shadows of the surrounding woods, assassins emerged one after another, brandishing their blades as they gave chase.
The guard was outnumbered and quickly knocked off the carriage. Startled by the glint of swords, the horse reared up and neighed in terror.
The entire carriage began to shake violently!
Shen Ningning desperately tried to steady herself, but she was still thrown about by the violent jolts, bumping her little head.
She hissed in pain, seeing stars.
The Black Wolf King let out an enraged howl. He instructed the little girl not to come out, then immediately leaped from the carriage.
A massive, powerful black wolf charged out, stunning the group of assassins.
Soon, the roars of a fierce beast locked in combat echoed from outside.
Shen Ningning lifted the curtain and looked back anxiously.
The Black Wolf King was enormous and could take down an assassin with a single bite, but there were more than a dozen of them.
And they were all armed with sharp weapons!
Shen Ningning made a split-second decision: she had to help!
She climbed onto the carriage’s shaft and grabbed the reins with her small hands.
Her dark, limpid eyes shone with a fearless light. "Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid."
The little girl gently stroked the carriage horse, gradually calming its terrified flight until it finally came to a stop.
This horse was stabled at the Princess Mansion and had never drunk her Spiritual Spring Water, but that didn’t stop Shen Ningning from communicating with it.
The little girl struggled to pull out an arrow embedded in the carriage, then used it to cut the ropes tethering the horse.
Then, using the height of the shaft, she hoisted herself onto the horse’s back.
"We have to go back and help. We’re going to beat the living daylights out of these guys who tried to scare us. Are you with me?"
The horse actually seemed to understand. It neighed and shook its head, clearly too afraid.
But Shen Ningning yanked the reins tight, forcibly turned the horse’s head, and with a sharp cry, urged it forward. "It’s okay if you’re scared! After this, you’ll be brave!"
The horse neighed and galloped wildly, charging toward the Black Wolf King, who was surrounded by assassins.
As they neared them, Shen Ningning yanked hard on the reins.
The horse’s hooves flew high and came crashing down.
With a dull THUD and the sound of cracking ribs, an assassin blocking their path was sent flying by a kick from the horse’s iron-shod hooves.
He skidded a meter or two across the ground, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and then lay motionless.
Shen Ningning’s voice rang out cheerfully. "That’s the way! Again!"
As if encouraged, the horse followed Shen Ningning’s lead and wheeled around. When another assassin charged, it expertly reared up without her even needing to pull the reins!
Another one was sent flying.
While the Black Wolf King attacked ferociously, Shen Ningning guided the horse to fight around the perimeter.
When an assassin tried a sneak attack with a sword, the little girl perfectly timed a throw, hitting him with the arrow she had pulled from the carriage.
But that wasn’t all. The assassins gradually noticed something astonishing!
How did Princess Funing, perched high on her horse, have an endless supply of weapons?!
The things she threw at them were either sharp daggers or barbed darts.
They hadn’t seen her dismount, so where was she picking up all these sharp objects?!
The most outrageous part came last. Shen Ningning pulled the horse away and galloped off. The remaining assassins thought she was fleeing and were about to give chase when they saw the little girl come trotting back, CLIP-CLOP, CLIP-CLOP.
From a distance, all they could see was that she seemed to be carrying something on her shoulder.
"Wolf Father, get back!" the little girl yelled expertly.
The Black Wolf King whipped his head around, flinging aside the assassin he had just killed. Then, with an agile leap, his powerful form bounded far away.
Before the assassins could react, they heard a sharp WHOOSH.
The next moment, a gunpowder charge landed heavily at their feet and exploded, sending them all flying into the air.
From a safe distance, Shen Ningning held the firearm with both hands, a sweet smile on her face.
’They’re really asking for it. Let’s see what else I can pull out.’ She quickly wracked her brain, thinking about what other great weapons from the Immortal Realm she hadn’t used yet.
However, the assassins who were lucky enough to survive scrambled away, screaming and wailing.
Shen Ningning’s limpid eyes widened. "Trying to run? Langlang, after them! Don’t let a single one escape!"
In the end, the Black Wolf King dragged back all the assassins who had tried to escape.
If Shen Ningning hadn’t told him to leave them alive for questioning, he would have snapped their necks.
By the time word of the incident reached Xie Suzhi’s ears, he was discussing state affairs with the Emperor. When he heard that Shen Ningning had been ambushed by assassins and that there were heavy casualties, his face went deathly pale!
The Emperor and Mo Lingwei shot to their feet at the same time. "Where is she?!"
Chen Shaobei, the messenger, said, "They were taken to the nearby Ministry of Justice, but..."
Before he could finish, three figures blurred past him like a gust of wind.
Xie Suzhi was the first one out the door, desperate to confirm his daughter’s safety.
Mo Lingwei was also worried for Shen Ningning’s safety, while the Emperor simply wanted to see for himself who would be so audacious as to try and assassinate the blessed girl right under his nose!
But the Emperor had barely stepped out of the Imperial Study Room before he was surrounded and stopped by eunuchs and the imperial guard.
"Your Majesty, your person is august and noble. You cannot rashly leave the palace. It is better for you to wait here."
The Emperor frowned, then turned and pointed at the bewildered Chen Shaobei.
"You, go see what’s going on for me."
When they arrived in a grand procession at the Ministry of Justice, Shen Ningning was sitting on a chair, eyes squinted in delight as she ate a sugar figurine her second brother, Xie Ming’an, had bought for her.
The Black Wolf King was at her feet, also licking a piece of candy.
Before Xie Suzhi even entered, he saw a horse covered with a silk blanket, munching on rich grass in the stables, attended by three junior officers from the Ministry of Justice.
"Ningning, Father is here! Are you alright?" Xie Suzhi’s eyes were red-rimmed.
He’d heard there were heavy casualties, and his heart had nearly stopped!
’Damn those assassins, daring to harm my daughter! I will not let them get away with this.’
Mo Lingwei was already plotting how to make the assassins pay with the blood of their nine generations.
But when they burst into the main hall of the Ministry of Justice and saw Shen Ningning looking completely relaxed, they all froze.
Xie Suzhi ran to the little girl’s side, checking her from head to toe for injuries.
"Ningning, you... you’re not hurt?"
Shen Ningning blinked her big eyes. "I’m fine. I just bundled up the assassins and delivered them here."
’And I got to trick my stinky second brother into using his monthly salary to buy me lots of snacks.’
At this thought, Shen Ningning’s eyes crinkled in delight, her little face pink and playful.
Just then, Xie Ming’an emerged from the back hall, holding an interrogation ledger. Seeing his father, his expression was calm, as if he had expected him.
Mo Lingwei immediately asked him, "Have you found out anything?"
Xie Ming’an pursed his lips. "There were sixteen assassins in total. Four were killed by the guard, and eight others were bitten by Mr. Lang. They succumbed to their severe injuries from excessive blood loss and were already dead on arrival."
"Of the remaining four, two have broken ribs from being kicked by the horse. In any case, they’re still breathing, just unconscious. For the sake of the interrogation, this subordinate has already summoned two doctors to do everything they can to treat them."
Overhearing this, Shen Ningning pricked up her ears and blinked her big eyes, looking a little embarrassed.
As everyone stared at her in astonishment, the little girl mumbled, "I told Wolf Father to go easy on them, but I didn’t know they were so fragile."
The Black Wolf King let out a calm AWOO, as if in agreement.
’I wasn’t even biting that hard.’
Soon, news that Princess Funing—accompanied by one guard, one wolf, and one horse—had killed sixteen assassins spread throughout the Capital City!
