World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 124: Elemental Spirits (Part 2)
"Your wings are absorbing the surrounding Mana to sustain themselves instead of using your Mana," Queen Eleanor exclaimed as she looked at the Wings of Wind on Evan’s back.
Alice and the others also stared at Evan with dumbfounded looks from the side, their hearts filled with shock, as they knew just how difficult it was for someone to reach 100% affinity with any element.
Even though they were elves and were naturally close to Mana and other elements, it was still difficult for most elves to reach 100% affinity with an element.
"He also learned an internal Lightning skill on the way here. Doesn’t it mean his affinity with the Lightning Element is also not low?" Liam muttered in a low voice, his heart filled with shock.
Alice and the others heard his words and remained silent as after watching everything, they had already labeled Evan as an anomaly.
Evan didn’t know what Alice and the others were talking about, as his focus was on Queen Eleanor’s wings.
"Your Majesty, your skill is also Wings of Wind, but it doesn’t absorb Mana from the surroundings, and you need to use your Mana to sustain your wings, right?" He asked with a look of interest, as he didn’t expect there would be a difference between the skills people received upon reaching 100% affinity with an element.
"Yes." Eleanor nodded at Evan’s question. "I always thought everyone would receive the same skill whenever they reached 100% affinity with an element. But it seems that even if they receive the same skill, the effect of the skill can be different for everyone."
Eleanor paused and explained about her skill.
"Unlike your Wings of Wind, my Wings of Wind is actually an active skill. It consumes 30 Mana points every minute, and while activated, it increases my Agility by 150 points."
"Thirty Mana points per minute..." Evan took a deep breath upon hearing Eleanor, and his mouth twitched slightly.
Although he now had over 500 points of Mana, if he had the same skill as her, he wouldn’t even be able to use Wings of Wind for half an hour before running out of Mana.
Although a bonus of 150 Agility was tempting, he still preferred his current skill, which allowed him to fly for hours without worrying about Mana.
Eleanor saw his shocked expression and chuckled slightly.
"Truth be told, I have never heard of any human reaching 100% affinity with any element. Unlike elves and many other races, humans don’t have a high affinity with the elements. Even among the humans who have been evolving for hundreds of years and are part of the Light Alliance, I haven’t heard about anyone who has reached 100% affinity with any element," Queen Eleanor said while retracting her wings.
"Are there any benefits to having high affinity with the elements?" Evan couldn’t help but ask upon hearing Eleanor.
"Of course there are." Eleanor nodded. "If you have 100% affinity with an element, you can use the said elemental skills to a greater extent. A fireball launched by someone with a lower affinity with the Fire Element and one launched by someone with 100% affinity with the Fire Element have a huge difference between them. Moreover, there is also a saying that you might be able to gain the recognition of elemental spirits if you have a high affinity with the elements."
Evan wasn’t surprised when he heard the first part, as he already knew about it. Since the moment he became an Elemental Apprentice and his Wind Affinity reached 100%, his control over the Wind Monarch skill had increased greatly, and he could bring out more of its power.
But the second part about spirits confused him slightly, as it was the first time he was hearing about it.
"What are elemental spirits?"
Eleanor raised an eyebrow when she heard his question.
"You don’t know about elemental spirits?"
Evan coughed when he saw the weird look in her eyes and shook his head.
"An elemental spirit is also a type of species..." Alice said when she saw him shaking his head. "It’s a special race that is born with the power to control a specific element. If you gain the recognition of an elemental spirit, you can form a contract with it."
"Form a contract with it?" Evan raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Hmm..." Alice nodded and explained. "Once you form a contract with an elemental spirit, the power of your skills will increase greatly depending on the type of spirit you have formed a contract with. For example, if you form a contract with a Wind Spirit, the power of your Wind skills will increase greatly. Not only that, if the level of the spirit you have formed a contract with is high enough, there is also a possibility of gaining some additional abilities."
Evan was greatly surprised upon hearing Alice’s explanation, and his eyes lit up slightly.
"Where can I find elemental spirits if I want to form a contract with them?"
Eleanor chuckled when she heard Evan and shook her head.
"You can’t find elemental spirits. Once they sense your presence, they will come looking for you on their own."
"Sense my presence?" Evan rasied an eyebrow. "How are they going to sense my presence?"
Eleanor shrugged at his question.
"I am not clear about that myself. I just know that when certain conditions are met, elemental spirits will come looking for you if they want to form a contract with you."
"Is that so..." Evan nodded at her response and didn’t ask anything further.
Suddenly, Eleanor thought of something and looked at Evan.
"Why don’t you go and take a look at the sub-academy with Alice and the others? At first, I wasn’t planning to send you there, as most of the elves don’t like humans, and if you had gone there, they would have made things difficult for you. But after seeing your strength, I think you can handle most of them without much problem..."
A smile appeared on Eleanor’s face at this point, and a playful glint flashed in her eyes.
"And if you agree to go there, then I would appreciate it if you could do something for me there."
