World’s Cutest Alchemist

Chapter 165 - The Day After

  • Next Chapter

Luna was sleeping quietly in bed. Who knew what she was dreaming about? All anyone could tell from the outside was that she had a slight smile on her face.

She probably would’ve continued sleeping too. After all, last night was a very happy, but, tiring night. But, her blissfully snoozing couldn’t last much longer.

“WAAAAAH!” A high-pitched scream, one full of fear and distress came from somewhere in the house.

Immediately, Luna’s eyes snapped open as her heart began racing. Her mind kicked into overgear; She had never heard Stella scream like that before.

All within a second, she began moving. The mana in her body moved faster than it ever had before, imbuing every part of her body. She activated every skill or trait that could be useful to the maximum.

Dozens of thoughts entered her brain all at once. What could have happened? Was someone breaking in? Did a monster somehow find its way inside? She didn’t know, she couldn’t unmute her senses fast enough.

The only thing she knew was that she needed to go out there and protect her lover.

[Jolt Bolt]

As lightning empowered her body, she maneuvered like a strike of lightning, going from the bed and to the door all within the second.

There, she saw Stella. That was all that mattered at the moment: Knowing she was okay. Luna’s rapid movement came to an end as she appeared in front of Stella, deactivating her skill.

She was ready and prepared to attack the first thing she saw. But…She saw…Nothing?

Even with her senses in full play now, there was nothing in sight. No invisible person, no invisible monster. Just…Nothing.

She turned to look at Stella.

“L-Luna! Help!” Stella shouted, still looking fearful.

Luna’s first thought was that she missed something, was Stella seeing something she couldn’t see?

“What’s wrong?” Luna asked, still on guard.

“R-Roach! There’s a roach! Kill it!” Stella shouted, pointing somewhere under the furniture.

Luna’s tense body immediately relaxed as she exhaled a deep breath.

She stared at Stella’s pretty face, deciding on how to react. Eventually, she settled with just tapping her forehead as punishment for worrying her.

…

“What was that for?” I asked, rubbing the spot Luna poked. There was no force or pressure in that poke, so, it didn’t hurt at all, but, it felt oddly rude.

“Nothing.” Luna replied with a shake of the head.

“Well! Whatever!” I exclaimed, “Roach! Kill it! Please!!”

I hid behind Luna as I pointed to where I saw the devilish creature.

That’s it! I’m making a potion that kills all roaches! I can’t stand those devil-spawn!

“…You’re not afraid of spiders, but, you’re afraid of roaches?” Luna asked.

“I’m not afraid of roaches!” I exclaimed, “I just don’t like them!”

“Pfft,” Luna chuckled, “Alright, sure. How do you want me to take care of the roach?”

“Zap it! Kill it! I don’t care! Just get it gone!”

“If I electrocute it, it’s going to release a bad odor, you know?”

“Then smack it with a sandal or something!”

“Fine, fine, where is it.” She said.

Luna headed to the cabinet, grabbing some raid spray and heading to where I saw that devil.

Found this chapter somewhere other than the author's own site? Then it was copied behind their back.

“It’s staying still.” She said, she must’ve been able to see it with her senses.

“Can you like…Scare it or something so it comes out?” I asked.

“How about you scare it? Bang on the cabinet and maybe it’ll come out.” She asked.

“No way!” I immediately shook my head, stepping back a few steps.

“Pfft,” Luna chuckled, “Fine, I’ll do it myself.”

For some reason, I got the feeling that Luna was messing with me! She must think I’m actually scared of roaches or something! I’m not! I just don’t like them! Really! Believe me!

Luna knocked on the cabinet a few times and the disgusting thing came scuttling out from underneath.

“Eek!” I let out, retreating even further back. Let’s just say that it was lucky I didn’t have my potion pouch on me. Otherwise, both of us were gonna go boom!

Luna sprayed satan’s spawn with the raid and it slowly came to a stop before flipping over, its disgusting legs twitching.

“Ew, ew, ew…” I mumbled, squinting.

“Wow…You really don’t like roaches.” Luna commented with an amused smile as she put the raid back in the cabinet.

“They’re gross! Big and yucky! Some of those bastards even fly! Palmetto bugs can all just die for all I care!” I said passionately.

“You do know that there are some roach monsters in the tower-” Luna started but I quickly cut her off,

“Stop!!!” I pressed my palms to my ears, “Don’t wanna hear it! If I hear any more, I’m gonna quit!”

Luna smiled, it was obvious that she was teasing me!

“Are you sure?” She asked, “It’s very vital information, plus, can’t their materials-”

“Nope! Nope! Nope!”

Ugh! I hate that I actually know the monsters she’s talking about! Their materials can be used in a variety of potions, but, I’d rather be caught dead than use those!

After Luna disposed of that…thing, she approached me.

“What if I’m poisoned and the only antidote uses one of those materials?” Luna asked, leaning in mischievously.

“That’s not a thing! There’s always substitutes!”

“But, what if you don’t know the substitutes? There’s only ten minutes left for me to drink the antidote, you wouldn’t have time to find the substitute before I die!”

I chewed on my lips for a moment while staring at her. Her lips were curled upwards, it was obvious she was trolling me! Where did she learn such bad behavior!?

“Are you enjoying yourself?” I asked, “Do you like teasing me like this?”

“Teasing!?” She exaggeratedly said as if I had said something wrong, “I’m just genuinely curious! If your girlfriend was about to die, and you had to work with the…r-word materials, would you?”

“You’d sound a lot more convincing without that smirk on your face!” I exclaimed, “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you!?”

“Pfft,” She started to laugh, “You caught me!”

“Fine, fine, enjoy yourself while you can.” I pouted.

“I am! Haha!”

Seeing her so happy, did in fact, make me happy. But! I couldn’t show that!

“You just wait.” I muttered threateningly.

“Wait? For what?” She asked, wiping her eyes.

“What do you think’s going to happen tonight?” I whispered in her ear.

Luna flinched, quickly looking away and to the right.

“Hmph!” I let out, “I need to finish cooking breakfast.” I said, leaving Luna standing there with a flushed face.

…

“So,” I started, “Have you seen any info online about the ALG Royale update?” I asked.

“No,” Luna shook her head, “I want to go in blind, how much do you know about it?”

“Well, pretty much everything?” I shrugged, “At least related to my part. There’s a lot of changes that have nothing to do with me.”

“Mm, gotcha,” She nodded, “Wanna play?”

“I don’t think we can today, right?” I said uncertainly, “We’ve got to move everything to your apartment.”

“Oh! Right, I forgot.” She said, “Are we going to be able to move everything today? Your garden’s gonna be a pain to move.”

“I hope so?” I said, “But, it’s not really a problem if we finish tomorrow or the day after.”

Of course, we did have the option of hiring movers to help us out. But, neither of us really thought we needed it. If worse comes to worst, I could ask Bryson and the lot to help, or, we could even ask the people who tested the bouncy potion for me. I’m sure that bald mister would be more than happy to help.

“True, true.”

“Ashley sent a text a little bit ago,” I said, “She’s on her way here to help grab the u-haul.”

She had to go with Ashley unless she wanted to take a taxi or equivalent to the spot. Of course, I, with my expert driving skills and totally legit driver’s license could have gone with her. But, Luna didn’t want me driving for whatever reason.

“Got it.” She nodded, “I’ll just go get dressed quickly then.”

While she went to do that, I did a quick check of the public opinion on my bouncy potions.

Surprisingly, or, I guess unsurprisingly, they were doing really well! Everyone loved them! Especially the people who got to witness these livestreamers test the bouncy ball. And after the initial curses from the streamers, they came to their senses and asked for more!

What really surprised me though, was the amount of info out there already. Some rankers had gotten their hands on some and talked about how they’d use it as utility in the tower or in gates.

There was even a video of a tank applying the potion to his shield and deflecting some weaker skills.

It was very interesting seeing people find uses for my product. It made me happy and motivated to get them some more.

But! Unfortunately for them, I was on break! I wouldn’t be selling more potions until at least a week after new year.

I spent a few more minutes just scrolling through post after post. I probably would’ve continued doing that for hours, but, a text notification stopped me.

[PA Ashley: Here.]

[Luna: Okay, I’ll be down in a moment.]

A few seconds later, Luna came out of the bedroom. She was dressed casually, and, as she said, I could tell she just threw something on.

“I’ll be back with the truck.” Luna said as she approached me.

“Mm,” I nodded, “Then, I’ll start getting everything ready to move.”

We hugged and kissed before she left.

I yawned and stretched before standing up and looked around.

“Hm…This will be kind of tedious…” I mumbled.

Then, I remembered something!

Instead of doing as I said I would and pack boxes or something, I put on some sandals and headed to the apartment next to mine.

I knocked on grandma’s door a couple times.

A few seconds later, a familiar face appeared.

“Hi, grandma!” I greeted.

“Oh, hello there, darling.” Grandma said with a smile, “What brings you here this morning? And, I don’t see Luna with you? Is she busy?”

“Ah, Mouse went to pick up the u-haul.” I said.

“The u-haul? Oh! Are you moving?” She asked.

“That’s right,” I nodded, “I just wanted to let you know beforehand.”

“I see, that’s wonderful. Did you two already get the house?”

“No,” I shook my head, “We’re moving to her apartment for now. Since my lease is ending, we’ll just be staying at her place while the house gets built.”

“Built? Ah, you’re getting one built instead of moving into one? That’s good.” She said, “Why don’t you come in? I’ll serve you some hot chocolate.” She smiled.

“Okay!” I nodded.

A little later, I sat on the couch opposite of grandma while sipping some delicious hot cocoa.

“So, where’s the house getting built?” She asked.

“It’s in Ever Springs.” I said.

Grandma’s eyes widened slightly,

“Oh, dear, isn’t that where the Winterfowl outbreak happened?” She said, I could hear the concern in her voice, “Are you sure you want to live there?”

“Of course,” I nodded, “It’s a beautiful place. Have you been?”

“I have.” She replied, showing a smile…For some reason, I felt that smile seemed a little sad? “It’s a beautiful place. But, aren’t you concerned about an outbreak?” She asked.

“Nope!” I shook my head, “Not one bit! Anyways, Mouse and I have already explored the area a little and the people all seemed nice. There’s also this arcade called Spinster’s! Have you heard of it? It’s a fun place…”

I continued to chat with grandma for an unknown amount of time. Eventually, we heard a knock at the door. Grandma and I looked at each other for a moment before getting up and heading to the door.

“Who is it?” Grandma asked as she opened it.

Standing outside was a beautiful silver-haired girl with an amused smile on her face. Next to her was another girl I recognized, one with brown hair

“Oh! Mouse, you’re back? And hi Ashley! Good to see you again!” I cheerfully said.

“Hello, Ms. Stella.” Ashley replied.

“Bin…I think you forgot to start packing things.” Luna said.

“…Oh.”
