World’s Cutest Alchemist

Chapter 167 - Little Bomber Update

  • Next Chapter

Luna and I brought box after box up to her apartment. Her living room slowly started to fill up with cardboard. By the time we moved all the boxes from the truck to the apartment, it was already past 22:00.

And honestly, after spending the whole day packing and moving boxes. I can confidently say: I’m never doing that again.

Plus, moving the garden might have been the single most tedious and tiring thing ever done! In history! All of the planter boxes and strawberries were currently just spread throughout the apartment sporadically.

Yeah, I’m hiring a moving company for sure next time. My poor little arms can’t handle this amount of work!

They’re about to fall off!

“That should be it.” Luna said, putting down the last box.

“Phew…Thank god, there’s no way I could’ve done more.” I said, wiping off my sweat.

“Yeah, you look tired.” Luna chuckled.

“My arms and legs have become jelly.” I pitifully said, “I’m not gonna be able to move for weeks!”

“Oh, really?”

“Yeah!” I nodded, “You’re gonna have to carry me!”

“…” Luna looked at me incredulously, “You’re just too lazy to move, aren’t you.”

“Hehe, caught me.” I giggled, “So, are you gonna carry me?”

“Fine.” She said, acting reluctant. Yet, she couldn’t hide that smile on her face.

Luna approached and lifted me off my feet. Literally. With what’s commonly known as a princess carry, she brought me to the comfortable bed in her gaming room.

I really do like this mattress, it’s so soft and cozy.

“I’m gonna go shower.” Luna said, “I’m sweaty and sticky.”

“Oh!” I sat up.

“What?” She looked at me.

“Hehe, let’s shower together. I definitely shouldn’t be laying in bed right now either, I’m even sweatier.”

Luna flinched and her face flushed red. She slowly nodded as I stood up.

I blew air into her ear as I passed by her and headed to the bathroom.

…

“Alright! So, we have two options.” I said with my arms crossed.

“Let’s hear it.” Luna replied.

We were in the living room, staring at the stacks of boxes all over the place.

“Actually, we have three.” I corrected.

“Okay? Continue?”

“One, we could spend the whole day unpacking everything and putting everything where they’re supposed to be.”

“Eh…Don’t like that.” Luna shook her head.

“Mm,” I nodded, “Two, we could go grab the cauldron and forget about unpacking for a little longer.”

“Probably should, right?” Luna said, “Without that, you can’t make potions or anything.”

“True.” I nodded, “And option three is we forget about everything else and go play the ALG update.”

“Oh…” Luna appeared to be deep in thought, “Hm…”

“Take your time.”

“Yeah, we probably should get the cauldron.” She said after a moment, “That way we won’t have to keep renting the u-haul. Just wasting money if we wait any longer.”

“Yeah,” I sighed, “That’s probably best.”

But! I’m just feeling so lazy!

As I was internally complaining, I came to a realization.

Wait a minute! I’m not going to be the one carrying it! Even if I drink a strength potion and imbue myself with mana, there’s no way I’ll be able to contribute a lot of help in carrying it. Haha! Perfect!

“…I’m getting the urge to flick you for some reason.”

Gah! Why’s her mind reading back!?

“What’re you talking about?” I said before quickly changing the subject, “I’ll call Ashley! Why don’t you two handle that and I’ll start unpacking?” I offered.

“Pfft, alright.” Luna chuckled, “I see through you though.”

Huh? Did someone say something?

Anyways, I called Ashley and, as usual, the phone didn’t even ring once before she picked up.

“Hi! Ashley! Hope you’re doing well, did you get home safe yesterday?”

[Hello, Ms. Stella. I’m doing well. Did you need something?] She asked.

“That’s good, that’s good, so, are you able to help us move? There’s a very heavy cauldron that Mouse can’t carry alone.”

[Of course, I’ll be at your apartment in a few.] She said, [By the way, I’ve set up a date for you to come purchase the land. I’ll text you the details later.]

“Wonderful!” I said, “Alright, perfect. Mouse will be waiting at the apartment. Thank you as always, Ashley!”

[Just my job.] Ashley replied. I’m 90% certain that’s her catchphrase at this point.

After I hung up the phone, Luna left shortly after.

I took a deep breath and looked at all the boxes.

“…Should I just go lay down?”

I seriously thought about it for a moment before sighing.

“…Alright fine, I’ll stop being lazy for once.”

…

“Hey…Bin,” Luna stared at me from above.

“…Yeah?” I replied.

“What’re you doing?” She asked.

“…” I chewed on my lips for a moment before replying, “Lying down.”

“Yeah, I see that.”

“So, why’d you ask?”

“Well, because, I think I clearly remember you saying you’re going to start unpacking while Ashley and I grabbed the cauldron.”

“…Oh, did I say that?” I asked.

“Yes, yes you did.”

“Oops.”

“Pfft,” Luna chuckled, “As expected of you. Let me guess, want to hold off on unpacking?”

“Yes.” I nodded immediately.

“Alright, fine.” She smiled, “Wanna check out the ALG update then?”

“Yes!” I sat up, “Should we invite Rumi as well?”

“If she’s on,” Luna shrugged, “Didn’t she say she’s spending time with family?”

“Oh! Right, she did.” I nodded, “Well, we can still ask. I’ll give her a call.”

A few rings later, Rumi picked up.

[Hello?]

“Hi, Rumi!” I greeted her cheerfully, “Mouse and I were wondering if you’d like to play some ALG. Have you played it yet?”

[Oh! Yeah, for sure! I’d love to play!] Rumi replied, [No, I spent Christmas at my family’s house, I haven’t had the chance to play yet. I’ve also been avoiding looking online since I didn’t want to get spoiled for stream.]

“Right, right, Mouse and I haven’t seen anything yet either.” I said.

[Perfect! Were you looking to play right now? Or in a bit?]

“When can you get on?” I asked.

[Anytime. I’ll just start up a guerrilla stream or something.]

“Then, Mouse and I will be on. See you then?”

[Okay! See you!]

After hanging up, I turned to Luna,

“Looks like we got a third.”

“Great,” Luna replied, “I swear, you better not have made everything we loot explode.” She sternly(?) said. Though, to me, it sounded more cute than threatening.

I looked away suspiciously as if I had no clue what she was talking about.

One of the good things about moving to Luna’s apartment was that she had her own computer—one with way better specs than mine. And, I also brought my computer, so, neither of us needed to use the laptop anymore.

However, that being said, one of us—likely me—was going to use the laptop today. My computer was stowed somewhere in one of these million boxes. And, there was no way I was finding or setting it up today.

So! I turned on the laptop. And a little later, Luna and I were waiting in call, casually chatting.

[From the pictures, the new area looks really good. Did you have a hand in that?] Luna asked.

“I gave them a general outline,” I replied, “Like, I told them what I’d thought would be fun to have in the area.”

[Hm…I see, I see, so I can blame you when all hell breaks loose.]

“Pfft!” I spat out, “What!? Me?! No way! If anything bad happens, that sounds a skill issue on your part.”

[Surely. Is it also a skill issue if I randomly blow up because I think I found something rare?]

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I played dumb, until we get in a match, there’s no confirmation that loot randomly explodes! Hehe.

As we were discussing very serious and important matters, the notification sound played, signaling someone else had join the call.

[Hello!] Rumi’s voice came through my headset.

“Hi, Rumi!” I greeted her.

[Hello, Rumi.] Luna also greeted.

[How’re you two doing? Have a nice Christmas?] Rumi asked.

“Yep, yep. Unforgettable for sure, are you live by the way?” I asked.

[Oh! Yep! I just started stream, chat’s saying ‘Hi’ if you want to greet them.]

I opened her stream and muted it before speaking,

“Hi, chat! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!”

“Hello, chat.” Luna greeted.

- Hi, Bin and Mouse!

- Bin! Mouse!

- Wonderful Christmas for me, how was yours?

- Hi, Bin! Hi, Mouse!

“Woah! Mouse, you’re actually talking to them for once?!” I said, surprised.

[Yeah! What!? You never talk to chat! I was beginning to think you hated them!] Rumi joined in.

- Mouse hates us D:

- She hates us!!

- I like that she hates us though, just me?

- Yes.

“They’re alright.” Luna said.

- D:

- D:

- Just ‘alright’?

- Honestly, fair. I wouldn’t like us either LMAO

[That’s messed up, Mouse, I can’t believe you.] Rumi said, feigning disappointment.

“Well, ‘alright’ is better than how you described them.” I commented.

[WHAT!? BIN!?] Rumi immediately exclaimed. I saw her VTuber’s eyes widen.

- ???

- RUMI??

- WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SAYING ABOUT US!?

- WTH??

- RUMI HATES US!

- Just one day after Christmas!? Seriously, Rumi!?

[No! No! No!] Rumi shouted in succession, [I’ve never said anything bad about you guys! You’ve got to believe me!]

“I wouldn’t believe her if I were you, chat.” I commented.

[Zip it, Bin!]

“What the!? Chat, you see how mean she is to me!?”

- Rumi hates Bin! Rumi hates us!

- Rumi is so mean D:

- Sniff, sniff…

[No! That’s not what I mean!] Rumi tried to defend herself, but chat wasn’t believing—or, well, maybe they did. Either way they were just messing with her like usual.

[Alright, let’s stop stalling and play.] Luna said, completely ignoring the mood.

“Pfft! Alrighty! Invite me!” I cheerfully said.

[What!?] Rumi said, exasperated.

- Yay! Games!

- Woohoo!

- I can’t wait to see their reaction to the new update.

- Production class + Little Bomber update!!

- Yippee!

- Hehehe…I already know what’s going to happen.

When I launched the game, I was met with a new intro cinematic.

…

The camera was picked up by someone behind it, they showed the surroundings—An abandoned but colorful theme park. 2D cutouts of the raccoon mascot were scattered all over the place.

The camera turned around to show the person holding it—a blonde-haired girl wearing a domino mask. The Little Bomber. She held the camera like she was filming a vlog and showed a peace sign with her free hand.

She slowly started to skip throughout the park, posing with several different cutouts of the mascot. It was an odd sight, seeing a small girl seemingly unbothered about the destruction surrounding her. One could even call it ‘creepy’.

The girl continued exploring the park, zooming in on what she thought was cool: Attractions, colorful buildings, and some balloons—strangely, they were filled with air.

Eventually, she made her way to a building. From the looks of it, it used to be an administrative building, as it’s exterior, though dirty and weathered, wasn’t as colorful or bright as the others.

She entered the building and casually made her way up the stairs. Debris covered the floor, she didn’t even bother turning the camera towards the fallen over statues or paintings that had fallen off the wall.

Soon, she entered a room. The camera slowly started to show a security desk with over a dozen monitors above it. Each monitor was linked to a security camera that was showing different parts of the park.

Groups of four people each could be seen on just over half of the monitors.

None of the people looked to be theme-park goers though; They wore equipment meant for battle instead of casual clothes.

The Little Bomber’s mouth slowly curled to a smile. She pressed a red button and spoke into a microphone,

“Attention guests! We have a very special event today!” Her voice was distorted but still had that childish feel to it.

Every person on the monitor flinched, drawing their weapons and started looking around. Some eyes immediately locked onto the loudspeaker.

“Please make your way to the Raccoon’s Riptide Rocket for a very special prize!”

Not a single one of the groups seemed to move.

The Little Bomber’s smile turned to a frown seeing that.

“Fine! Have it your way!” She pressed a button.

Then, a loud explosion sounded as the screen went black.

…

The end of the cinematic immediately brought me to the lobby. I smiled but didn’t say anything. Both Luna and Rumi were speechless.
