Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 554: Should I Call You Mrs. Walker?

  • Next Chapter

They hadn’t seen each other in a while. Although the woman before her was still dressed in glamorous clothes, her face was hidden behind a mask and sunglasses. She was so thoroughly covered you couldn’t see her face at all.

But the exhaustion radiating from her was impossible to hide. It was as if her entire demeanor had changed.

‘A person can truly change so much in such a short time.’ Yara Scott had been such a dazzling figure before—a high and mighty young lady others couldn’t hope to approach, one who had never given Nina Scott the time of day. But look at her now.

But the one thing Nina Scott was certain of was that Yara Scott hadn’t changed a bit. She was still as utterly detestable as ever.

Nina Scott’s lips curled into a smirk. “Oh, my mistake. Should I be calling you Mrs. Walker now?”

Beneath the sunglasses and mask, Yara Scott’s face grew even paler.

But Nina continued, “Mrs. Walker must be enjoying her life these days, no? Living a life of ease and comfort? After all, he was the excellent match you picked out for me at the start. I’m sure he suits you just perfectly, wouldn’t you say?”

“Nina Scott, enough with the sarcasm!”

Nina smiled. “Oh, so you noticed. I learned it all from you, Mrs. Walker.”

Those two words, “Mrs. Walker,” nearly gave Yara Scott a heart attack.

She dug her nails into her palm, barely stopping herself from keeling over from sheer fury right then and there.

Cameron Walker was standing behind Yara Scott, smoking a cigarette as he took a call.

“Okay, got it, babe. Of course I love you the most. Fine, I’ll come see you tonight. How about I bring you a present?”

Cameron Walker made no attempt to be discreet, completely ignoring the fact that he was a married man.

When Yara Scott had woken up, she found she’d been sent back to the Walker family’s home. Her suicide attempt had failed; they had saved her.

And that very same night, Cameron Walker had…

She wanted to run, to go back to the Scott Residence, but there was no chance. The Walker family had arranged for numerous bodyguards to watch her. Moreover, Cameron Walker had a foul temper. Whenever she did anything to displease him, he would immediately resort to violence.

It wasn’t as if Cameron Walker had ever pretended to be a gentleman before the wedding, but after they were married, his true colors were fully exposed.

Aside from drinking and gambling, he had plenty of other vices. He had other women on the side, too, though he claimed he was just fooling around with them.

Yara Scott was drowning in regret. If she could do it all over again, she would never have gotten involved with someone like Cameron Walker.

To make matters worse, the Scott Family was ignoring her completely, acting as if they didn’t have a daughter like her. Her pleas fell on deaf ears.

But today, Cameron Walker seemed to be in a good mood. Or perhaps he was pleased with her good behavior over the past couple of days, because when she said she wanted to go shopping, he actually agreed.

He probably insisted on coming along because he was afraid she’d run away. But say what you will about him, Cameron Walker’s family was genuinely wealthy—even wealthier than the Scott Family.

And when she wanted to buy things, he wasn’t the least bit stingy, letting her swipe his card as she pleased.

Yara Scott was on the verge of convincing herself. ‘As long as I keep this man happy,’ she thought, ‘he won’t hit me.’

‘Plus, he’s rich. I have to get as much money out of him as I can, and then I’ll make a run for it.’

‘And the Scott Family… How dare they treat me like this! That old hag showed me not one shred of compassion. They can’t blame me for what comes next!’

Seeing Nina Scott looking so radiant and glamorous, a smile on her face and a handsome man at her side, Yara Scott was consumed with jealousy.

Every day she cursed Nina Scott—cursed her to live a miserable life, cursed her to die a horrible death. But in reality, her curses seemed to have no effect whatsoever.

Yara Scott sneered. “Nina Scott, coming to a place like this… Do you have the money? Can you even afford this gown?”

‘Everyone knows Nina Scott’s husband is a pauper. I don’t know how poor he is, but he doesn’t look like much.’

‘Those clothes don’t even have a brand name. They must be from some street stall, right?’

‘So what if he’s handsome? He still has nothing.’

Nina Scott said, “Whether I can afford it or not has nothing to do with you. I simply don’t feel that a dress like this is worth the price.”

‘It’s not like she couldn’t come up with ten million. Besides, she had Miles Mercer with her.’

‘Forget ten million; even a hundred billion would be nothing to Miles Mercer.’

“I’ve met braggarts before, but never one like you. If you don’t have the money, just admit it. What’s with the act? If you can actually pay ten million with that card, I’ll admit defeat.”

Yara Scott hated Nina Scott to her very core. In her current state, she hadn’t wanted to run into Nina at all. The eyes under her sunglasses and the face beneath her mask were still black and blue from where Cameron Walker had hit her.

But she couldn’t stand seeing Nina living so comfortably. She had to make Nina lose face, to humiliate her completely!

“What good is you admitting defeat? How about this: if I win, you get on your knees and kowtow to me a couple of times. How’s that?”

Nina Scott folded her arms and stared at Yara Scott. It was all the same to her, but she wondered if Yara would dare to take the bet.

Yara Scott bit her lip. ‘If it were just Nina, she might be able to come up with that much money if she scraped together everything she had.’

‘But I just saw it was the man who pulled out the card. That guy is so poor… could he have misheard ‘ten million’ as ‘a thousand’?’

“Fine. But if the charge doesn’t go through, you have to promise me you’ll do one thing for me—no matter what I ask,” Yara Scott countered.

Nina Scott nodded. “No problem at all.”

‘Yara Scott is bound to lose, isn’t she?’

‘Forget this one dress, Miles Mercer could probably buy the entire mall, couldn’t he?’

‘Then again, it’s no use for me to agree. What if Miles doesn’t?’

Nina deliberately moved closer to Miles Mercer, reached out, and linked her arm with his. She looked up at him with a sweet, cajoling gaze. “Can we, hubby?”

The word “hubby” made Miles Mercer’s heart skip a beat.

“…”

‘Can she please not look at me like that?’ Miles thought. ‘It’s strange enough as it is, but she also looks so pitiful.’

“Is one enough?” Miles asked directly.

Nina said, “Just one is fine. We can consider it the price for teaching someone a lesson. And I have to admit, seeing someone get on their knees for me will certainly make me very happy.”

Hearing this, Yara Scott could only think, ‘What an act.’

Just then, Cameron Walker finished his call and came back inside. When he saw Nina Scott, a flash of surprise flickered in his eyes.

“Nina Scott?”

Cameron Walker’s gaze landed on Nina. ‘Looking at her now,’ he thought, ‘she really is beautiful.’

He’d noticed it before, too. Nina Scott had a kind of mischievous, elfin quality about her. She seemed free-spirited. Even though she had a bad temper, she wasn’t dull and lifeless—she seemed exceptionally vibrant.

He used to think Yara Scott was good-looking, too—pretty and classy. But once he’d had his fun with her, he found her boring.

By comparison, he felt Yara was no match for Nina in any respect.

“What’s wrong? What’s going on here?” Cameron Walker asked, looking at Yara Scott.

Yara Scott said, “I want that gown.”

She pointed at the one Nina was holding. “Will you buy it for me?”

‘Ten million is expensive, sure, but Cameron is rich. He should agree, right?’

‘Nina can’t afford it anyway. When she fails to pay, I’ll step in and buy it myself.’

“How much is it?” Cameron Walker asked.

Nina replied, “Not much. Only ten million.”

“Ten million? For a single worthless dress? You damn spendthrift, do you have any idea how hard it is to earn money?”

As he spoke, Cameron Walker raised his hand and brought it down hard across Yara Scott’s face.

The force of the blow sent the sunglasses flying off her face. Just like that, the black and purple bruises around her eye were exposed for everyone to see.
