Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 558: The Ungiven Ring
Nina Scott completely ignored Yara Scott. In any case, her bet with Yara was now settled.
She looked over at Cameron Walker. "So, it seems Mr. Walker isn’t going to eat willingly?"
But Cameron Walker said, "So what if I don’t? This is kidnapping! I’m calling the police!"
Cameron Walker still thought he could call the police, but he never got the chance.
Miles Mercer was out of patience. "If he won’t eat, then force-feed him."
They had already prepared the dog poop in advance, after all. Didn’t he love to eat it? Then they’d let him eat his fill.
"No... No..."
Cameron Walker struggled, but how could he possibly overpower the men Miles had arranged?
Nina couldn’t bear to watch what happened next. It was too disgusting.
She left immediately. Behind her, she heard Cameron Walker’s bloodcurdling scream—a sound as miserable as if he’d just been castrated.
Nina didn’t know if Miles’s men had merely forced Cameron to eat it or if they had also ruined him. But judging by the sheer agony in his screams, it sounded like he wouldn’t be able to be a man anymore.
Nina was still rather curious. "You made the stream title something like that... are you sure the channel won’t get banned?"
"It won’t," Miles said decisively.
"Why not?"
’How can Miles be so sure?’
Nina knew that the regulations for these things were quite strict. Livestream channels, in particular, seemed to get shut down quickly for any content that violated common decency.
And what Miles had done was more than a little extreme.
’Could it be that the executives at the streaming platform know Miles? Or maybe he bribed someone?’
But Miles said nonchalantly, "I bought the streaming company."
Nina: "..."
’She had really underestimated Miles.’
To think he would actually buy the entire company just for a single livestream!
"Was it worth it? Spending so much money just for Cameron Walker?" Nina couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret over the expense, even though it wasn’t her money.
Miles said, "You earn money to spend it. You spend money to be happy. So as long as it makes you happy, spending a little money is nothing."
Nina was speechless for a moment. ’He has a point, I guess, but this wasn’t ’a little money.’ It was a *lot* of money!’
"Thank you, Miles," Nina said.
Her eyes were incredibly bright at that moment. As she looked at Miles, it was as if they were filled with a galaxy of stars, and he was standing right at its center.
Miles’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly averted his gaze. "Th-Thank me for what?"
Nina said, "Thank you for helping me today, and for spending so much money. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t even know people like Cameron Walker and Yara Scott, and things wouldn’t have turned out like this. I’ll definitely pay you back once I’ve earned enough money."
"There’s no need. It wasn’t that much."
Miles’s hand was in his pocket, his fingers fiddling with something.
Inside was a small gift box. In the gift box were two rings.
The last time he and Nina went out together, people didn’t know they were married. It was a hassle, whether it was people asking for his contact information or for Nina’s.
So, Miles had designed a set of rings and had them custom-made.
He had originally planned to give them to Nina today. Even if their marriage was just an act, they had to make it convincing.
Miles had been ready to take them out at the end of the day; this was the gift he had prepared.
But just as he was about to take them out, he heard Nina say...
"Of course I have to. Your money doesn’t grow on trees. Besides, in a year... no, in less than eleven months, we’re getting a divorce. It’s better if we keep our finances separate and clear."
Miles froze—his entire body, down to his stiffened fingers.
Just a moment ago, Miles had felt a distinct flicker of happiness. But Nina’s words washed away all his joy, leaving him unable to feel happy at all.
He stopped reaching for the rings. He even felt that if he did take them out now, Nina wouldn’t accept them.
"Right."
Their contract was for one year. They would divorce when the time came.
He knew Nina wasn’t after the Mercer family’s money, but an uncomfortable feeling still stirred deep inside him.
"What’s wrong?" Nina asked. She felt that Miles suddenly seemed unhappy.
"It’s nothing."
"But you don’t look like it’s nothing. You’re clearly upset."
Nina wondered. ’I didn’t say anything wrong, did I? I just mentioned the divorce.’
’Could it be that Miles doesn’t want to divorce me?’
The thought lasted only a second, a fleeting notion, because it was completely impossible. Miles couldn’t wait to divorce her.
’Miles hates me so much. This marriage was just a transaction. I’m overthinking things.’
"I’m not," Miles denied.
Nina leaned in, even reaching out to grab his hand. "Yes, you are. You..."
Miles pulled away. "Don’t touch me. I don’t like being touched."
Nina: "..."
’Isn’t it a little late for him to be saying that?’ She had lost count of how many times she had touched him. Why hadn’t he said anything before?
But Nina didn’t say anything more. She followed behind Miles as they left the scene.
And Miles’s hand remained in his pocket, the rings he had prepared still ungifted.

The livestream caused a huge stir. Millions of people in the channel watched the unbearable scene.
Plenty of people have threatened to eat shit on a livestream, but Cameron Walker was the absolute first to go through with it.
When the Walker family found out, they felt utterly humiliated.
But why would Cameron Walker do such a thing out of the blue? He was clearly forced. They tried calling him, but he wouldn’t answer.
The Walkers had no choice but to call the Scott family. That’s how Mrs. Scott found out. She called Yara Scott, who finally picked up after a long time.
"Yara, what in the world is this I’m hearing about online? Why would Cameron Walker eat... that kind of thing?!"
The entire Scott family felt ashamed by association. He was a person, not a dog. How could he...
"Mom, it was Nina! It was all Nina’s doing!" Yara didn’t hesitate for a second, throwing Nina under the bus.
"Nina?" Mrs. Scott was incredulous. "How could Nina have that kind of power? Do you know who the Walkers are? They’re not people Nina can afford to offend."
Yara burst out laughing. "Do you really think Nina is the same old Nina? You’re even more clueless than I was. You don’t actually believe her husband is some poor loser, do you?"
That man is someone whose very name strikes fear into people’s hearts! He doesn’t give a damn about our family.
But Mrs. Scott knew nothing about any of this.
’Could it be that Nina’s husband isn’t a poor loser?’
’That’s impossible.’
Mrs. Scott immediately had someone investigate Miles Mercer’s identity. She had always assumed he was a pauper and had never bothered to look into him.
Seth was busy with company matters, so she didn’t talk to him often and had never mentioned Nina’s husband.
Now, upon checking, Mrs. Scott was utterly stunned. It took her a long moment to process it.
"The Mer... The Mercer family..."
The Mercer family of Elandra!
Nina’s husband wasn’t some poor devil after all, but a man of such immense wealth.
As if she’d just been hit by ten billion dollars, Mrs. Scott was dazed for a moment before becoming downright ecstatic. ’We’re rich! We’ve struck gold!’
From now on, their Scott family would be able to do whatever they wanted in Lustre, and even across all of Elandra!
