Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 562: Accompanying Ivy Sherwood to Her Prenatal Checkup
The news that the Princess was beyond persuasion and had already arranged a private jet to Calypsos soon reached Jason Summers.
He also knew her exact destination: Lustre.
Jason immediately made arrangements. "Don’t let her leave the airport. I warned her before that this country is chaotic. She didn’t listen, so it’s time to teach her a lesson. But this needs to be done flawlessly. It would be best to frame the Calypsos officials, making Elandra believe that Calypsos is trying to provoke an international war. Then we can just sit back and reap the spoils."
Jason’s specialty was manipulating others to do his dirty work; that way, he would never leave any evidence behind.
The King of Elandra had many enemies abroad. If the Princess came out on her own and something happened to her, it would have nothing to do with Jason. He had already arranged for this news to be leaked by the Princess’s close attendants. If something happened to the Princess in Calypsos, it might even trigger a war, and things would only get more chaotic.
And this kind of chaotic situation was exactly what Jason wanted to see. The messier, the better. It wouldn’t affect him anyway.
Of course, it would be even better if this matter could be tied to Quentin Blackwood, Elijah Hawthorne, or the Mercer Family. But making such a move was relatively dangerous. All of these plans rested on the premise that Ovillette hadn’t remembered everything.
If Ovillette were to remember... Jason didn’t dare take that risk!
After a flight of over ten hours, the Princess finally arrived in Calypsos, her flight heading straight for Lustre. Upon arriving, she didn’t even have time to make it out of the airport. She was taken away the moment she stepped off the plane.
She had underestimated Jason’s power and the number of people he had planted by her side. Even among her bodyguards, there were Jason’s men. Her every move was crystal clear to him.
Once she was captured, his subordinates called him. "Mr. Summers, how should we deal with this woman?"
"Keep her alive for now," Jason instructed. "Just don’t expose that we’re the ones behind it."
Meanwhile, in Lustre.
It was daytime, and it was time for Ivy Sherwood’s scheduled prenatal checkup.
Quentin Blackwood went with her, of course. The weather had already grown quite hot, and their baby was now six months along. Quentin registered for the appointment himself, then held Ivy’s hand as they navigated the hospital, acting extremely cautious.
The ultrasound showed that the baby was very healthy and developing well. Although they still didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, it was time to start preparing the baby supplies.
Quentin asked, "Doctor, what do we usually need to prepare?"
The doctor replied, "You can start preparing a hospital bag. Also, consider postnatal care—whether you’ll take care of her yourself or go to a postpartum care center. And, of course, the baby’s clothes, formula, diapers, and so on."
"Alright," Quentin noted seriously. He immediately had his people start preparing. Whether they ended up needing the items or not, he wanted everything ready.
As for Ivy’s postnatal care, a care center definitely wouldn’t be as comfortable as their own home. They could just stay at Norhaven. It was large and spacious. When the time came, he would hire several experienced professionals to take care of her, bringing over the top-tier nurses from the best care centers.
"Does this mean my wife shouldn’t do anything else from now on? Should she stop going to the company? No chores at all? Does she need to stay at home every day?"
Quentin was seeking the doctor’s validation, hoping they would agree with him so he could use their words as gospel to keep Ivy from doing any work. Ivy was the type who couldn’t sit still. She insisted she was in good health and wanted to keep working. She was constantly worrying about the company. Even when told to sit or lie down at home, she would stubbornly find something to do, and she still went out instead of staying cooped up every day.
It was Quentin’s first time being a father, so he lacked experience. He thought she should be resting properly now, preferably at home doing absolutely nothing. However, Ivy wouldn’t listen to his advice, keeping him constantly on edge.
Ivy, standing beside him, chimed in, "That’s ridiculous. So many people work right up until the day they give birth. Pregnant women aren’t porcelain dolls, and we’re supposed to walk around more."
The doctor looked at the two of them, thinking they were a truly loving couple. "Moderate exercise is good for both the mother and the baby. However, she looks a bit on the thin side, so it would be best to supplement her nutrition."
"Understood. I’ll definitely fatten her up." Quentin looked at Ivy. "Listen to the doctor. You need to eat more from now on."
Ivy retorted, "I eat every day! I eat a lot, actually. I’m always full, even overly stuffed."
"It’s not enough. From now on, you’ll eat an extra half bowl of rice at every meal, and I’ll have the kitchen add another dish."
"What if I can’t finish it?"
"Give whatever you can’t finish to me."
"Stop messing around in front of the doctor." Ivy felt embarrassed.
"Doctor, is there anything else we need to be careful about?" Quentin continued. Every time they came for a checkup, he bombarded the doctor with questions.
"Not really. Just pay attention to daily safety. This is a very critical period."
"Alright." Quentin agreed. After confirming there were no other issues, he finally took Ivy’s hand and they left together.
Ivy had once asked Quentin if he wanted a boy or a girl. Quentin had said he would love the baby regardless of gender, as long as Ivy was the mother. If it were a boy, he would protect the mother alongside their son. If it were a girl, he would protect both mother and daughter, making them the happiest princesses in the world.
Either way, Quentin had thought it all through, and none of it affected his feelings for Ivy. Even with a child in the picture, Ivy remained the most important person in Quentin’s heart. Between the child and Ivy, he would undoubtedly choose Ivy without hesitation.
After getting into the car at the hospital entrance, Quentin opened his mouth, seeming like he wanted to say something. The wedding he had been preparing for was approaching, scheduled for next month. He had even picked an auspicious day for them to get their marriage certificate beforehand.
"Ivy..."
Just as Quentin was about to speak and ask for Ivy’s opinion, her phone rang. She was a bit surprised when she saw the caller ID. It was Ayre!
She hadn’t been in touch with Ayre for a long time. They had only seen each other when she went to Elandra for the New Year, and their interactions had been sparse since then. Work-related matters were handled by designated staff, so they only occasionally shared interesting things they came across with each other.
"Ayre?" Ivy answered the call. "How do you have time to call me?"
"Ivy, are you in Calypsos right now? Are you in Lustre?" Ayre’s voice sounded incredibly anxious.
"I am. What’s wrong? Did something happen?" Ivy’s expression grew solemn.
Judging by Ayre’s tone, it sounded like a major crisis had occurred.
