Yes, I Have a Child with the Villain
Chapter 155: Then You’ve Successfully Tamed Me
Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Then You’ve Successfully Tamed Me
"That’s even better. It’s okay if we’re a little late. We can go to the company together when we leave."
...
The alarm, after being silenced, went off again.
Caroline Whitman fell for his sweet talk and cuddled a little longer.
And she was finally starting to understand his warning from last night about "regrets."
Because they went another round.
Their morning was delayed by half an hour.
After washing up, Caroline Whitman looked in the mirror and touched her fair neck. Fortunately, Adrian Grant had shown some restraint.
But the parts of her body from the chest down... let’s just say they couldn’t be seen in public.
When Caroline Whitman came out, Adrian Grant had already made breakfast.
It was already nine o’clock.
In reality, they still had plenty of time to get to the office if they left now.
But Adrian Grant had made breakfast and insisted, "Eat before you go."
Caroline Whitman glanced at him. Seeing him unhurriedly arranging the tableware, she had no choice but to pull out a chair and sit. Looking at the warm milk and toast he handed her, she teased:
"You really have a lot of energy, thinking about making breakfast at a time like this."
"You’re the one who knows best whether I have energy or not."
...
Caroline Whitman was at a loss for words, her face flushing slightly.
’Once he got a taste of it, he started with the dirty talk.’
"Eat up, don’t be hungry. Weren’t you just crying about having no strength?" Adrian Grant added another portion to her plate.
...
’Here he goes again.’
Caroline Whitman, a little embarrassed and annoyed, shot back, "Who said you could talk?"
Then, not forgetting to add a final comment, she said haughtily:
"I preferred you when you were wild and untamable."
Adrian Grant: "..."
He smiled. "Then you’ve successfully tamed me."
...
Caroline Whitman couldn’t win against him in a battle of words, so she channeled her silence into her appetite and dug into her food.
As they were changing their shoes to leave, Caroline Whitman didn’t forget to remind him, "I’ll have my assistant go to your office for the contract later. Don’t forget to sign it."
But Adrian Grant looked puzzled. "Wouldn’t it be easier if you just came to my company with me?"
Caroline sneered, easily seeing through his little scheme. She proudly swept her hair back. "A president like me is usually very busy. How would I have time to condescend to visit your company just to sign a contract?"
Adrian Grant nodded thoughtfully. "Hmm, that’s true. I understand."
Seeing that he’d taken the hint, Caroline Whitman left the apartment, satisfied. After parting ways, they each got into their own cars.
However,
Caroline Whitman turned her head and saw Adrian Grant’s car following hers. She frowned. "Why are you following me?"
"It’s the same if a president like me condescends to visit your company."
...
Adrian Grant casually opened the passenger-side door and got in as if he’d done it a hundred times.
Caroline Whitman pulled the door shut, fastened her seatbelt, and turned to look at Adrian Grant, who had also buckled up. "Are you serious?"
He turned his head, a puzzled expression on his face. "Have I ever lied to you?"
Caroline Whitman found herself inexplicably thinking back to last night.
’You told plenty of lies last night, didn’t you?’
’Schrödinger’s "last time."’
Caroline Whitman pressed her lips together without a word. She gave him a long, slow look before turning her eyes back to the road.
She started the car and actually drove it to the Whitman Company building.
After she got out of the car, Adrian Grant followed close behind.
The unfamiliar figure and his handsome face attracted the curious gazes of many employees.
"A new employee?"
"Whoa, he’s so handsome!"
’Anyone who can walk beside Caroline Whitman is definitely no ordinary person.’
"Don’t tell me he’s some new executive parachuting into our company?" The voice was tinged with excitement.
"Parachuting my ass! You people are so clueless. That’s Adrian Grant of the Grant Group!"
The moment this was said, a murmur went through the crowd, tinged with a hint of disappointment.
Caroline Whitman led Adrian Grant into the private elevator, which went straight to the executive office floor.
The two of them were alone in the elevator. The mirrored walls reflected Adrian Grant’s calm and composed demeanor. Caroline Whitman leaned against the car, her arms crossed, and eyed him sideways.
"You’re making yourself right at home."
Adrian Grant adjusted his cuffs and said matter-of-factly, "This sort of thing is quite normal."
...
DING. The elevator doors opened.
Caroline Whitman was the first to step out.
"President Whitman," Secretary Lynch began, then faltered for a moment upon seeing Adrian Grant following closely behind. "President Grant," she added quickly.
Caroline Whitman nodded. "Bring two coffees in a bit."
Adrian Grant suddenly spoke up. "I don’t drink coffee. A glass of water is fine."
Secretary Lynch quickly agreed.
Caroline Whitman pushed open the door to her office. Adrian Grant followed her in, his gaze sweeping leisurely around the room before landing on the guest sofa by the floor-to-ceiling windows. He sat down without any ceremony, as if he belonged there.
Before long, the secretary walked in quietly with two drinks, placed them down, and retreated.
Immediately after, she came back in with the contract that the Grant Group had sent over that morning, handed it to Caroline Whitman, and left again.
While Caroline Whitman reviewed the contract’s terms, Adrian Grant sat quietly on the sofa, watching her focused expression with leisurely amusement.
When she looked up, her eyes met Adrian Grant’s deep gaze.
Caroline Whitman stared for two seconds, but the man across from her was so shameless he didn’t even look away.
’This guy is unbelievable...’
’If he were sitting next to me right now, I’d definitely reach out, take off his glasses, and turn his face away.’
"Had enough of a look?" Caroline Whitman said irritably.
Adrian Grant slowly retracted his gaze and turned to look at the floor-to-ceiling windows.
He suddenly asked, "Can people see inside through this glass?"
...
Caroline Whitman silently followed his gaze to the large windows, then silently looked away, her eyes shifting to the two-way glass that faced the hallway.
"Don’t get any funny ideas," she warned.
Adrian Grant turned his head and smiled gently. "What are you thinking about? What kind of ideas do you think I could get?"
Caroline Whitman was speechless once again.
’His words made it seem like I was the one with the dirty mind.’
In fact, when he asked that question, some unspeakable scenes had flashed through Caroline Whitman’s mind.
She felt that Adrian Grant was definitely the type of person who would do something like that.
Fortunately, Adrian Grant gave her an out, changing the subject at the right moment. "I was just curious. Is there a problem with the contract?"
"No problem. Sign it." Caroline Whitman signed the contract and handed it to him.
Adrian Grant nodded, stepped forward, glanced at it, and then signed his name.
After signing, he went back to the sofa, sat down, and casually picked up a corporate brochure from the coffee table, starting to flip through it seriously.
"The contract is signed. Aren’t you leaving?"
Adrian Grant put down the brochure with great interest and looked up at her:
"Are you really going to be so heartless as to rush me out? Won’t President Whitman introduce me to your company’s culture, so we can continue to deepen our collaboration?"
Caroline Whitman was exasperated. "Didn’t you just read all about it?"
After a pause, she asked strangely, "You’re not planning to just hang around here and not leave, are you?"
As if she’d thought of something, she became instantly wary. "You can’t just mess around in here."
Adrian Grant actually laughed. "What on earth is going on in that head of yours? Why do you always imagine me as some kind of frustrated pervert?"
He truly felt a little wronged.
’I haven’t even done anything.’
Caroline Whitman: "..."
Just then, the secretary’s voice came over the intercom. "President Whitman, someone named Ethan Xavier is here to see you."
Caroline Whitman instinctively glanced at Adrian Grant before replying into the phone:
"Have him wait in the reception room first."
