Yes, I Have a Child with the Villain
Chapter 157: I Hate You! You Pervert
Chapter 157: Chapter 157: I Hate You! You Pervert
Director Whitman?
With Franklin Whitman?
Puzzled, Caroline Whitman entered the office. She pushed open the door and nearly jumped out of her skin.
Adrian Grant and Ryan Grant were both sitting there.
’What the heck?’
Seeing the father and son together, Caroline Whitman wondered if she was hallucinating from exhaustion after a sleepless night.
She shut the office door.
The little boy immediately hopped off the sofa and ran toward Caroline Whitman. "Mommy, I missed you so much."
Caroline Whitman looked down at the little munchkin who wanted a hug, pinching his soft little cheek.
’Holy crap!’
’It’s not a hallucination?’
She bent down and picked him up. "How did you get here?"
"I asked Grandpa to bring me. Mommy, Mommy, I missed you so, so much."
"...Heh, it’s only been one night, and you already miss me this much?"
Had she heard this when she first met Ryan Grant, Caroline Whitman probably would have been very touched.
Now, she was used to the little guy’s sweet talk.
"Yes, yes! That’s why I begged Grandpa to bring me to see you."
Ryan Grant was quite the wingman, taking full responsibility for the situation before Caroline Whitman could question Franklin Whitman.
Adrian Grant spoke up. "Ryan said he just wanted to see you for a moment before heading back. Who knew you’d be with that client for so long?"
He sounded indignant on the boy’s behalf.
Just as Caroline Whitman was wondering how to respond, Franklin Whitman walked in carrying two lunch boxes. "That’s right," he said curiously. "Adrian and I have been sitting here so long our butts hurt, and we were still waiting for you. Who was it? Which client?"
Caroline Whitman told them about Ethan Xavier, which made Franklin Whitman frown.
"What the heck? A discount that big? Are they trying to scam us?"
Even though he was greedy, he clearly thought the discount seemed sketchy.
He wouldn’t make a deal like that even if it were with his own father.
It’s not as if the company would go under without this single deal.
Caroline Whitman thought so too.
Ethan Xavier’s background check had come back clean, and he had the aura of Vincent Fuller around him, but things tended to get more dangerous the closer one got to a story’s protagonist.
"That’s the situation. I’ll bring it up with the corporate team at this afternoon’s meeting," Caroline Whitman said.
Franklin Whitman placed the lunch boxes on the table. "Grant, you should eat with us too."
He figured the boy would want to wait for Caroline, and by then, it would be lunchtime.
He didn’t trust restaurant food since the boy had just gotten over a cold, so he’d specifically asked Miss Lynch to cook and bring them a meal.
After they had eaten their fill, Ryan Grant clung to Caroline Whitman reluctantly before he left. "Mommy, are you coming to get me tonight?"
Caroline Whitman smiled. "Weren’t you going to keep my parents company for me? You want me to come get you already?"
Ryan Grant blinked, clearly not expecting Caroline Whitman to say that.
His little brain seemed to short-circuit for a second.
He tugged on his mother’s sleeve with a small hand, looking pitiful. "But I want to spend more time with Mommy and Daddy, too. You don’t... not want to be with me, do you?"
Caroline Whitman was struggling to keep a straight face.
Adrian Grant shot the little guy a meaningful look and spoke slowly.
"Fine. I just so happen to have neglected to check your schoolwork these past couple of days. Let’s start tonight. You’re turning four this year and will be starting preschool, won’t you? We can’t have you falling behind."
These words left Ryan Grant stunned. He recalled Adrian Grant telling him the same thing a few months ago.
Adrian hadn’t brought it up again after all this time, so Ryan had assumed his father had forgotten.
But now he was saying it again. Ryan Grant quickly scrambled behind Franklin Whitman and peeked his head out. "Daddy, I’m being good and studying hard every day, so you don’t have to worry about me."
"Grandma’s making me a special treat tonight, so I won’t come home just yet. You can come get me tomorrow night instead."
With that, he tugged on Franklin Whitman’s big hand.
"Grandpa, let’s go back now. I’m sleepy. I need to take my afternoon nap."
Franklin Whitman chuckled. "Oh, Adrian, don’t scare the boy. He’s still so young, and he’s a very bright kid. No need to put so much pressure on him."
He found the dynamic between this father and son quite amusing.
Adrian Grant smiled without saying a word.
To Ryan Grant, however, that smile was enough to make him despair.
He knew his father was serious.
And in fact, Adrian Grant was indeed serious.
While he hoped to spend some quality time alone with Caroline Whitman, he couldn’t be too lax when it came to his child’s upbringing. A fun approach to education had its place, but it couldn’t be all fun and games.
He could certainly spare an hour a day to focus on his son’s education.
If the boy were to ever travel back to his original time, his education at least shouldn’t have regressed.
After Franklin Whitman took the child home, only Caroline Whitman and Adrian Grant were left in the office.
Seeing that he wasn’t making a move to leave, Caroline Whitman smiled. "Not going yet? Don’t tell me you plan on taking your afternoon nap here?"
Adrian Grant said, "Can I?"
"..."
’Well, he could.’
’But...’
Caroline Whitman shot him a sideways glance. "You’re not planning on staying here all day, are you? Are you always this free, President Grant?"
Adrian Grant answered frankly, "I have a meeting this afternoon, so I can’t keep loitering here."
His words held a hint of regret. As his feelings for her deepened, he felt that no amount of time with Caroline Whitman was ever enough.
He was quite annoyed that this Ethan Xavier person had taken up a large portion of the time that should have been his.
As he spoke, his gaze landed on Caroline Whitman’s face, his eyes glinting.
Sensing his gaze, Caroline Whitman looked up and met his familiar, predatory stare.
"Something else?" she asked, her expression neutral.
Adrian Grant didn’t beat around the bush. "I’m about to leave. Aren’t you going to send me off properly?"
Caroline Whitman couldn’t help but smile. "You waited all this time just for this?"
The more time she spent with Adrian Grant, the more her preconceived notions of him shattered.
"I wanted to spend more time with you; that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Who knew that man would take up so much of your time? It’s only fair that I ask for a little compensation, isn’t it?"
Whatever Adrian Grant wanted, he found a way to get. If the mountain wouldn’t come to him, he would go to the mountain.
Just like now. Seeing that Caroline Whitman wasn’t going to make a move, he stood up, walked over, and stopped right in front of her.
He bent down, brushed his lips lightly against hers, then pulled back. He traced her lips with his thumb.
Caroline Whitman’s bright eyes widened slightly, and she blinked.
’All that for such an innocent kiss?’
’That’s it?’
Adrian Grant registered her expression and straightened up, satisfied. "What’s wrong? Did you want more?"
"..."
’He could tell?’
One second, two seconds, three seconds... A blush crept up Caroline Whitman’s fair cheeks, visible to the naked eye.
"What are you talking about?" Caroline Whitman said, turning her head away bashfully.
The corner of Adrian Grant’s mouth curled into a smirk. He reached out, turned her face back toward him, and affectionately pressed his forehead against hers.
"If I don’t restrain myself, neither of us will make it to our meetings this afternoon."
Caroline Whitman understood instantly. Even so, the recent embarrassment sparked her competitive side.
So she decided to turn the tables, her eyes wide with feigned innocence.
"Whatever are you thinking about? What do you mean, ’won’t make it to our meetings’?"
She paused, her face lighting up as if in a sudden epiphany. She then lowered her head and gave his chest a light tap with her fist. "You’re terrible!" she cooed, her voice a soft, shy murmur. "You big pervert!"
