Enzo and Lorenzo took Expert-rank healing potions, and the results were immediately visible.

The bleeding stopped within seconds.

The wounds across Lorenzo’s body began to close, and the pain that had been gnawing at his nerves gradually faded. Even the injuries beneath his clothes started healing, allowing him to breathe more comfortably.

However, the healing potions couldn’t replenish his depleted mana or restore his lost blood. His body still felt heavy after the fight, and his muscles protested whenever he moved.

Lorenzo glanced at Enzo.

His personal secretary had suffered more severe injuries while protecting him from the explosion. Although the potion was healing his wounds, Enzo’s pale complexion suggested that he wouldn’t be returning to full strength anytime soon.

"How are you feeling?" Lorenzo asked.

"Much better, Young Master." Enzo straightened his back and adjusted his glasses. "I should be able to resume my duties after some rest."

"Don’t push yourself. You took the explosion head-on to protect us. Even if you’re an A-rank Master, that doesn’t mean you’re invincible."

"Understood."

Lorenzo nodded before turning toward the captured assassin.

Nex lay on the ground with his hands bound by mana-suppressing restraints. His oversized sword had been confiscated, and several SCBD officers had arrived to secure the area.

The assassin remained conscious, glaring at Lorenzo with undisguised hatred.

Lorenzo crouched in front of him.

"Now, let’s talk."

Nex spat at him.

Lorenzo tilted his head, allowing the saliva to land on the ground beside him.

"That was rude."

He rose to his feet and glanced at Enzo.

"Take him somewhere secure. I want to know who hired him, how they learned about my movements, and why they chose tonight to attack."

"Understood, Young Master."

"And make sure he stays alive. I’d hate for him to die before answering my questions."

Nex’s expression darkened.

"You think you can get anything out of me?"

Lorenzo smiled.

"Ohh! Don’t worry! You see, I’m very experienced at getting everything I want."

He turned away before Nex could respond.

Truthfully, Lorenzo wasn’t particularly interested in the man’s threats. The assassin was merely a piece of a much larger puzzle.

An A-rank Master had participated in an assassination attempt against him, while another group of attackers had been willing to sacrifice themselves to create an opening.

That wasn’t the work of some random gang seeking revenge.

Someone had organized the operation carefully.

And whoever it was had known enough about Lorenzo’s habits to predict where he would be.

His expression gradually turned serious.

Someone’s been watching me.

The thought wasn’t particularly comforting.

He had only just entered Golden Dawn Academy, and his life was already becoming more troublesome than he’d anticipated.

Still, there was one advantage to the situation.

The assassins had failed.

And now, he had a surviving Master who might lead him to the people responsible.

"Hand that man over to us, Lorenzo Riina."

A familiar voice interrupted his thoughts.

Lorenzo turned around and found Marcus Scout standing nearby, accompanied by several SCBD officers. Like the last time Lorenzo had encountered him, Marcus was clad in armor from head to toe.

They had met about two weeks ago during the terrorist attack.

Now, they were meeting again under considerably more troublesome circumstances.

"Forget it. He’s going to the Riina family residence, where we’ll get the information we need from him. I don’t need your help, and I won’t hand him over to you."

Marcus frowned but didn’t immediately respond.

He could have demanded that Lorenzo surrender the assassin. He could even have attempted to take Lorenzo into custody for questioning.

But doing so would have been a terrible decision.

Marcus knew what would happen if Lorenzo ended up in an SCBD interrogation room against his will. Given the Riina family’s influence, the resulting political conflict could easily become more troublesome than the assassination itself.

Aldric Riina had already warned the World Government not to cross the line. For now, Marcus had no intention of testing just how far that warning extended.

Instead, he took a breath and spoke calmly.

"Then, at least share whatever you discover with us. We want to stop the people behind this attack just as much as you do."

Lorenzo was slightly surprised by how readily Marcus accepted his refusal.

’Well, I suppose I can do that.’

He gave Marcus a quiet nod of approval.

Marcus then surveyed the destruction around them, his expression growing troubled.

"We’ll conduct a thorough investigation of the scene, of course. However, I’m afraid we might not find much. There’s hardly any physical evidence left. Thankfully, you managed to capture their leader this time, unlike during the previous incident. Hopefully, we’ll be able to obtain some useful information from him."

He turned toward Lorenzo and Sofia, who stood a step behind him.

There was a trace of guilt in his eyes.

"I’m sorry. There’s only so much the World Government can do."

Sofia grimaced silently.

’Then what’s the point of them existing?’

Her thoughts were interrupted when Enzo stepped forward.

Unlike Sofia, he had no intention of keeping his dissatisfaction to himself.

"Nova City is your territory. Please forgive me for being blunt, Master Marcus, but the World Government exists to maintain order on Earth and protect its people. If my Young Master can be attacked so freely on your own territory without anyone being able to prevent it, then what purpose does the World Government serve?"

His tone was cold, and his expression showed unmistakable displeasure.

Marcus remained silent, accepting the criticism without attempting to defend himself.

Enzo scoffed and shook his head.

"Fine. Whatever. My Young Master was on a date with his fiancée, Lady Sofia, when they were caught in an explosion and subsequently targeted by assassins. Once the news gets out, what do you think will happen?"

Marcus frowned.

He understood precisely what Enzo was implying.

This wasn’t merely an assassination attempt anymore. It was a potential political scandal.

....and if situation continue to escalate like this always, they would find themselves in worst position.
