Your Beloved Sweetheart Is Online
Chapter 2180 - 2183: What’s Wrong, Little Girl?
Being the boss is the best.
Someday she was going to be the boss too, and keep three thousand concubines in her harem, all working for her!
Maimai pouted, grumbling out loud, but she was full of drive. The new movie was about to hit theaters; for the box office, she’d go all out. Come on!
"Gu ZhiSheng is a total pervert, and you’re actually going to live with him? Be careful he doesn’t eat you down to the bones." Yan QingQing’s voice on the phone was clenched with rage.
Maimai had called her during a break, surprised by how clearly abused she sounded: "Aren’t you already Brother Sheng Sheng’s assistant? How are you still calling him a pervert?"
Qingqing stared at the mountain of books in front of her, teeth grinding, head spinning so badly she felt like life was no longer worth living: "I take back every good word I ever said about him. He’s been a pervert from beginning to end."
"Why do I smell a tragic-love kink going on?" Maimai chuckled as she ate the little cake in front of her. "Alright, I’ve got to get back to work. We’ll talk when I have time, you poor thing."
Tragic love kink?
Qingqing flipped through the book in front of her. Brother Sheng Sheng only brought her tragedy; Maimai was the one getting the love, okay!
Maimai would never get the chance to see the pervert when he was truly perverted. Qingqing had a fever patch stuck to her forehead, forcing her eyes open, practically hanging herself from the beam and stabbing her thigh just to stay awake and read. There would be a random exam in half a month; if she couldn’t pass, she’d be sent home and have to say goodbye to Dark K forever. Qingqing pinched her thigh hard, snapped herself to attention. She would fight the pervert to the bitter end.
But she really didn’t want to learn any of this. Her nose suddenly stung. This was miles away from the life she wanted. What she longed for was an iron-blooded life. When would she ever get to live like that?
She envied it, she resented it, she craved it, but there wasn’t a single road leading her to that iron-blooded life.
Too many people around her were against it.
First and foremost was her mom. Even though her mom herself liked that kind of life, she refused to let her daughter repeat her path! Qingqing had wanted to join the army and be a soldier, but her father blocked every possible way she could get into the military. She’d finally squeezed her way into Dark K, only for a Sheng Sheng to appear and strip her of all real power, tossing her aside so no matter how she jumped around like a clown, it was all in vain.
She’d thought being his assistant would be a smart, roundabout way to save the nation, a bright shortcut. But looking at the thick stack of books in front of her, Yan QingQing’s eyes burned sore.
Yan QingQing bit her lip without a sound, like she was trying hard to crush something down.
After a long while, she fished out her phone. With her fever running high, her face was flushed red. She dialed a number, her voice unable to hide its weakness: "Brother Zun."
She carefully called Gu ZhiZun by name, her gaze a little blank. The mist in her eyes suddenly spilled over before she even realized it herself: "Can you let me go back to Dark K? I don’t want to be Brother Sheng Sheng’s assistant anymore."
"What’s wrong, kiddo?" Zun Zun left the private room with his phone, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window at the end of the corridor, frowning as he said, "Why does your voice sound like that?"
"I don’t want to be Brother Sheng Sheng’s assistant. This isn’t the life I want. Let me go back to Dark K, I’m begging you." Yan QingQing wasn’t the melodramatic type, but she didn’t mind playing the family card by taking advantage of her current weakness.
Zun Zun took out his lighter, lit it, then snapped it off, then lit it again, then snapped it off again, over and over, saying nothing.
Yan QingQing almost thought he’d already hung up. She tilted her head back in disappointment to force her tears down. "I get it."
She quietly hung up on her own, forcing down the sour ache in her chest, gave her stinging nose a rough wipe, and buried her head back in the books, forcing herself to memorize what they said. No one was going to carve a path out for her; she could only rely on herself.
