Chapter 163: Chapter 163: You Bastard

"You’re scaring Mr. Winslow again."

Lynn Winslow hummed, then admitted with righteous confidence, "If I don’t scare him, he’ll never agree. Even though they all agreed to help keep an eye on him, if Grandpa really wants to eat those things, they can’t stop him."

Ian Sterling raised a hand and flicked her on the forehead, smiling. "Mr. Winslow definitely saw through you, he just can’t win an argument against you."

"It doesn’t matter if he saw through me, as long as it works."

Lynn Winslow looked up and gave him a brilliant smile.

Ian Sterling lowered his head and left a soft kiss on the corner of her lips.

By the time Lynn Winslow finished her makeup and came downstairs, the doctor had already arrived and was examining Elder Winslow. He smiled when he saw Lynn approach.

"Miss, the old gentleman’s health has improved greatly. Just be sure he watches what he eats from now on."

Lynn Winslow agreed, and the doctor packed up his things and took his leave.

Elder Winslow sighed. Mr. Powell, amused, stood to the side. "Look at you, not taking care of your health and making the kids worry. You’ve really got some nerve."

"..." Elder Winslow knew he was in the wrong. If Lynn Winslow weren’t there, he would have shot back a retort. But with her watching him like that, what could he dare say? He just shot a glare at Mr. Powell, who was enjoying the show.

Mr. Powell didn’t bicker with him. He stood up, clasped his hands behind his back, and said, "Let’s go, since this old fellow is fine."

"Let’s have Joel Winslow come with us. He can help you two take care of us."

Joel Winslow stood to the side with a gentle smile. Lynn Winslow said, "Joel has something to do."

Ian Sterling looked up at Joel Winslow. A flicker of disappointment crossed Joel’s eyes, so fast that only Ian noticed. He looked away with a low chuckle and said to Elder Winslow, who had made the suggestion, "Grandpa, we can take good care of you. Joel has a lot on his plate."

Elder Winslow didn’t think much of it. Seeing them all say so, he let it go.

The two old men bickered constantly. Whenever they ate something delicious that Elder Winslow wasn’t allowed to have, Mr. Powell would show off childishly. As a result, by the time they got home, the two of them weren’t speaking to each other.

After escorting a somewhat weary Elder Winslow back to his room, Lynn Winslow said to Mr. Powell, "Grandpa, please stop teasing my other grandpa."

Hearing this, Mr. Powell’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Are you playing favorites?!"

"How would I dare?" Lynn Winslow shook her head and sat down next to Mr. Powell to placate him.

Mr. Powell huffed, finally letting the matter drop, and leisurely returned to his room.

Lynn Winslow collapsed onto the sofa, completely drained of energy.

Ian Sterling had just returned from a phone call. He had arranged for a house for Elder Winslow next to their place, so Elder Winslow could choose to stay there or at Lynn’s whenever he wanted.

When Lynn Winslow saw him, she raised her arms and pouted. "So tired. Carry me back to the room."

Ian Sterling chuckled softly, bent down, and scooped her up. Lynn Winslow wrapped her arms around his neck and complained, "Looking after old kids is more exhausting than looking after real kids."

"Have you looked after kids before?"

"Of course," Lynn Winslow scoffed proudly. "A girl from a family friend had a baby early on. I went to visit her once and even helped babysit for half a day."

"Wow, how amazing." Ian Sterling’s lips curled as he feigned surprise to please her.

Lynn Winslow giggled as expected, burying her face in the hollow of his collarbone. Her warm, moist breath fanned across his skin. The arms Ian Sterling used to hold her trembled, and his voice grew hoarse as he warned, "If you keep teasing me, I won’t hold back."

Lynn Winslow paid him no mind. She parted her lips and bit down, using some force. Only after hearing Ian Sterling hiss did she pull back in satisfaction.

"So I’m teasing you."

Ian Sterling tightened his arms, saying nothing. Lynn Winslow looked at his eyes in confusion and saw them darken, making her heart pound nervously.

He had a mischievous side sometimes, and Lynn Winslow couldn’t handle it when he was like this. She hesitated for a moment before whispering, "I was wrong."

"No, how could you be wrong?"

"..." Hearing that, Lynn Winslow knew this wasn’t going to blow over. She bit her lip and said, "I really know I was wrong. You’re the bigger person, don’t hold it against me."

"How could I ever hold anything against you, baby?" Ian Sterling looked down, his eyes full of mirth, but it was a rather sinister smile. Lynn Winslow shivered and hugged him tighter, whining, "Don’t smile like that. You’re scaring me."

As she spoke, they entered the room. Ian Sterling gently nudged the door shut with his foot, even freeing a hand to lock it.

Lynn Winslow trembled even more.

Placed on the edge of the bed, Lynn Winslow quickly scrambled toward the middle, putting distance between them. She reminded him, "M-my period isn’t over yet, don’t..."

Ian Sterling leisurely pulled off his shirt, blinked, and asked in feigned confusion, "What does that have to do with anything?"

"I-I can’t use my hands either. My wrists are still a little sore."

A lie. Her wrists had healed long ago.

Ian Sterling nodded slowly and bent down to find her hands. Lynn Winslow quickly hid them behind her back, saying pitifully, "Don’t be so petty. I really know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have provoked you on purpose."

"What am I doing?" Ian Sterling tilted his head and explained, "Didn’t you say your wrists were still sore? I just wanted to massage them for you."

"No need!" Lynn Winslow shook her head vigorously.

Ian Sterling had no choice but to straighten up, saying with regret, "Alright, then. I’m going to take a shower."

Lynn Winslow breathed a sigh of relief, only to hear Ian Sterling, who had already reached the bathroom door, turn back and say softly, "Wait for me, baby."

"..."

Seeing Ian Sterling walk into the bathroom and suddenly laugh just before the door closed, Lynn Winslow finally realized what was happening. She raged, "You bastard, you were scaring me on purpose again!"

Inside the bathroom, Ian Sterling’s lips curled. ’Scaring her on purpose? No, I’m serious. That was just a deliberate act to get her to relax a little first.’

When he came out of the shower, he saw Lynn Winslow just as he’d expected: lying on her stomach on the bed, swinging her legs and looking at her phone, appearing very relaxed and happy.

Ian Sterling didn’t do anything to startle his prey. While toweling his hair, he asked, "You should go take a shower."

Lynn Winslow let out a little "ooh" and got up, walking toward the bathroom while still watching a funny video clip on her phone that hadn’t finished yet.

Ian Sterling sat on the sofa, legs crossed, watching her back. When Lynn Winslow almost walked into a wall because she was so engrossed in her video, he couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

’My beautiful baby seems so smart usually,’ he thought with a helpless smile, ’but sometimes she’s like a dazed little kid.’

By the time Lynn Winslow came out, he was already leaning against the headboard, lying in wait.

All that was missing was for the rabbit to deliver herself to his doorstep.

This particular rabbit, Lynn Winslow, was completely oblivious. She happily lifted the covers, climbed into bed, snuggled up to Ian Sterling, and continued watching her phone, even sharing it with him.

"Baby, look, this is hilarious."

Ian Sterling’s eyes were as dark as ink. He gave a deep "mm," and lowered his head to look at the phone screen Lynn Winslow was showing him, but the fingers of the hand on her shoulder were restlessly caressing her cool skin.

Lynn Winslow didn’t notice and kept laughing, her laughter crisp and pleasant. The darkness in Ian Sterling’s eyes deepened.

He snatched the phone and tossed it onto the nightstand, then lowered his head to look at the shocked expression on Lynn Winslow’s face, his laughter low and husky.
