Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Have a Taste, It’s Really Sweet

Ian Sterling tucked Lynn’s arm into the covers and brushed her hair behind her.

Only then did Lynn remember to ask Ian.

"Where were you going just now?"

"To check out the venue. Where else would I be going?" Ian lowered his head and pressed a kiss to her hair.

Lynn pouted, hugged Ian’s waist tightly, and mumbled sleepily, "Take me with you to see it."

Ian closed his eyes and calmly replied with two words: "No way."

"Stingy."

"Mhm."

The two of them slept soundly together. By the time they woke up, the rain had lessened to a drizzle, which put Lynn in the mood to go out and have some fun.

She dragged a reluctant Ian to change into waterproof jackets, then dragged the reluctant Ian outside, chiding him as they went, "You didn’t mind the downpour when you went to see the venue, but now that it’s barely raining, you’re complaining? You’re so fussy."

Ian had his own logic. As she dragged him along, he trailed slowly behind her. "Checking the venue is for the sake of getting a wife. This is just for the sake of getting soaked in the rain for no reason."

"How could it be for nothing? Going out with me now will make me happy." Lynn had her own logic and said with conviction, "And if you make me happy now, when the time comes for you to propose, I’ll be sure to say yes without a second thought."

The two of them bickered as they passed through the hotel lounge. Only after they had playfully pulled each other out of the hotel did a man, sitting by a corner window and drinking coffee, slowly raise his head.

He watched their retreating figures, a smile touching his lips.

He picked up the phone beside him and called back the person who had been bombarding him with messages.

The woman’s voice was shrill as she demanded, "Why haven’t you been answering my messages? Did you just use me and then disappear?"

The man chuckled, setting his cup back on the table. "Esther Abbott," he said casually, "if you had just behaved, you would have gotten everything you were promised. But who told you to go looking for Lynn? You made them suspicious, and I haven’t even settled the score with you for that."

"You agreed to me going to see Lynn. What right do you have to blame me now?" Esther gritted her teeth. "I’m warning you, don’t push me. If you do, I’ll expose your identity, and we’ll see if the Sterling Family lets you off the hook."

The man was utterly unfazed. He stood and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, coolly uttering two words: "Suit yourself."

He hung up, clutching the phone loosely in his palm. His reflection in the glass revealed a face that bore a striking resemblance to Ian Sterling’s.

—

Mr. Powell and Elder Winslow had found out about Ian’s plan to propose a few days before Lynn did. They knew the young couple didn’t like to be disturbed, so they either went out on their own or invited the butlers to play cards, rarely seeking out Lynn and Ian.

Lynn simply assumed they didn’t like going out in the rain, so she didn’t bother them.

After the rain stopped, she invited them to go out with her, but the two old gentlemen refused outright.

"We’re not that clueless. Go out with you two and be a third wheel?"

Lynn was taken aback for a moment. She couldn’t recall a single time she and Ian had been overly affectionate in front of the two elders.

Mr. Powell seemed to read her mind. He snorted, played a card, and said, "We’re not dense. Now, you two stop bothering us and go have your fun."

Elder Winslow, on the other hand, said nothing. He just excitedly played a card he’d been holding onto and announced gleefully, "I won again!"

He held out his hand to collect the coins placed in front of the other three players.

Lynn stood there for a long while, feeling like the one who didn’t belong, and turned to leave.

Ian was standing right by the door, leaning against the hallway wall. When he saw her emerge, he slipped his phone into his pocket, wrapped an arm around Lynn’s waist, and asked with a smile, "I told you they wouldn’t hang out with us, but you didn’t believe me."

Lynn frowned. "Didn’t we come here planning to spend time with them? How did we end up all doing our own thing?"

Ian led her toward the elevators. "Because they get it," he said as they walked. "They don’t want to disturb us."

Lynn suspected Ian must have done something behind the scenes, but since she had no proof, she just pouted unhappily and didn’t respond.

Ian led her back to their room and asked her to change into a long, white, sheer dress.

Seeing her suspicious look, he gave a helpless smile. "Didn’t you want to take photos? The rain has stopped, the weather is nice... there might even be a rainbow."

Lynn said, "Oh," and after changing into the dress, she grabbed a pair of high heels and put them on.

"Should I put on makeup?"

Ian bent down and cupped her clear, makeup-free face in his hands. After studying it for a moment, he shook his head. "You should give other people a fighting chance."

Lynn scoffed playfully. "Such a sweet-talker, aren’t you?"

"I am," Ian’s lips curled into a smile as he leaned in, his mouth close to the corner of Lynn’s. "Have a taste," he murmured. "It’s very sweet."

Lynn let out a soft sound as he kissed her, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Ian’s neck, deepening the kiss.

Usually, at a time like this, Ian wouldn’t let her leave the room. But today was an exception. Though his eyes were clearly flushed with desire, he released Lynn, turned, and walked out of the closet into the bathroom to splash cold water on his face.

Lynn slowly followed, leaning against the doorframe with a smile. "You’re acting a little strange today."

Ian’s hands paused mid-splash. He feigned calmness. "How so?" He looked up, meeting Lynn’s eyes in the mirror, and asked with a smirk, "Because I was turned on and didn’t touch you?"

Having been together for so long and having done so many shameless things, Lynn was no longer easily embarrassed. She admitted it frankly. "Yeah."

"It’s not that I didn’t want to," Ian said, drying his hands. "It’s just... we’re out of condoms. I was planning to buy some on our way back."

Lynn feigned a look of great surprise, clapping her hands and praising him with mock sincerity, "Wow, you’re so considerate now. That never stopped you before. What’s with the sudden change?"

But Ian didn’t get embarrassed by her words. He stepped forward, hugged Lynn, and said softly, "I’m sorry. It was wrong of me to make you take the pill before. I promise it won’t happen again."

Lynn hadn’t really been bothered by it, but seeing he was serious, she patted him on the back.

"I was just teasing. I don’t really mind taking it. Besides, the ones you had specially prepared for me later weren’t harmful."

"I know." ’In some ways, Lynn spoiled him, as long as he wasn’t deliberately stirring up trouble.’

Once they were ready, they headed out together. They had only taken a few steps when Ian suddenly remembered something.

"Wait here, I forgot the camera."

Lynn let out a confused "Huh?" She watched him stride quickly away, blinked, and then glanced down at the camera already in her hand.

She murmured to herself, "But... I have the camera right here..."
