Chapter 250: The Grand Finale (Part 2)
After their weddings in Veridia and Morelia, Lynn Winslow and Ian Sterling stayed in Veridia for a while before starting their honeymoon.
Their final stop was Nysa Isle.
They kissed under the setting sun and lost themselves in sweet dreams at dawn.
Ian Sterling found this time to be one of pure bliss, so they decided to stay for a while.
This kind of life suited them perfectly. Both were a bit lazy, disliking early mornings and even later bedtimes. They might catch a sunset, but seeing a sunrise would require pulling an all-nighter.
After a week, Lynn Winslow started to get antsy.
At two in the morning, she lay quietly in bed. Beside her, Ian Sterling was engrossed in a game, oblivious to her mood.
“I want to go home… I miss Mom and Dad, my grandpas, and even Kiki and Henghng…”
Ian Sterling let out a soft “Ah?” and glanced over to see she was on the verge of tears. He quickly shut off his phone and pulled her into his arms.
“What’s wrong? Are you unhappy?” he coaxed softly. “Don’t you like it here anymore? Or do you want to go somewhere else?”
Lynn Winslow’s lip trembled pitifully. She snuggled into his embrace and said through her tears, “I just want to go home.”
‘This is hardly a big deal.’ Ian Sterling grabbed his phone and booked their plane tickets right away, then showed Lynn the confirmation screen.
“Look, I bought them. Or, if you’re not in a hurry, I can have Dad send the private jet over?”
Lynn Winslow stared at him through blurry, tear-filled eyes and shook her head. “I’m in a hurry.”
“Then tomorrow it is. We’ll leave as soon as we wake up, okay? Don’t cry.” Ian Sterling’s heart ached as he wiped away her tears. Lynn was probably about to get her period, which made her emotions a little unstable. After a long time, he finally managed to soothe her.
‘It’s good that we’re going back anyway,’ he thought. ‘It’s more comfortable to be at home when she’s on her period.’
The next day, they flew back. They went to Morelia first, hoping to see Elder Winslow, but learned he had actually gone to Veridia to visit Mr. Powell. So, they had a quick meal with Joel Winslow before rushing off to Veridia themselves.
They first went to the Powell family’s home to see Elder Winslow and Mr. Powell. After a meal with their uncle, aunt, Ethan Powell, and the other Powell relatives, they stayed for two days before returning to Aerie Garden.
Nina Norton took Lynn’s hand and studied her face closely. Noticing the faint shadows under her eyes, she said with concern, “Is this from all the rushing to catch flights? How did you get these dark circles?”
Startled, Lynn grabbed a nearby mirror to check her dark circles. ‘Phew, they aren’t too bad,’ she thought, breathing a sigh of relief.
Ian Sterling was draped lazily over the arm of the sofa. He sighed, “Mom, we’re going to our room to catch up on sleep. We’ll skip dinner for now and eat when we wake up.”
Lynn also yawned and said softly, “Mom, we’re heading upstairs.”
“Go on, go on,” Nina urged them.
Lynn and Ian slept straight through until the next morning. They didn’t even need to adjust their sleep schedules; a few sleepless nights had reset them back to normal.
During the day, everyone else was busy, but that evening, the entire Sterling family gathered at Aerie Garden for dinner.
At the dinner table, Nina Norton and Samuel Shaw started talking about preparing for pregnancy. Lynn listened for a bit, finding the topic quite interesting.
Ian Sterling kept his eyes lowered, diligently peeling seafood for her, completely oblivious to what his sister-in-law and his mother were discussing.
Lynn listened as she ate, popping a sauce-covered shrimp into her mouth with her chopsticks. Before she could even swallow, her stomach lurched violently. Forgetting everything else, she clamped a hand over her mouth and ran for the bathroom.
Ian Sterling froze for a second before he and Nina Norton quickly followed her.
“Honey, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” Seeing Lynn retching so miserably made Ian feel just as sick; he wished he could be the one throwing up for her.
Nina Norton stood at the bathroom door, a flicker of suspicion in her mind. She frowned slightly and hurried back to the dining room.
Seeing the worried faces at the table, she didn’t say much. Instead, she leaned in and whispered something to Samuel Shaw. Samuel’s eyes widened in surprise. She stood up, went upstairs, and came back down a moment later with something in her hand.
The two women—mother-in-law and daughter-in-law—gathered at the bathroom door. Seeing Lynn washing her face, they exchanged a look. Nina took the item from Samuel Shaw, nudged Ian, and handed it to him.
Ian was still worried, so he was bewildered when a few medicine-like boxes were suddenly shoved into his hands. He glanced down, read the words on them, and became even more confused.
Seeing he was still lost, Nina poked him on the forehead in exasperation, snatched the boxes back, pushed him aside, and walked over to Lynn. “Lynn, dear,” she said softly, “why don’t you give this a try?”
Lynn was stunned as well, but she still mumbled, “That’s impossible…”
