Chapter 217

"Chaos Summoning Beast..."

Seeing the strange black, double-winged monster that Kagemaru had summoned on the field across from him, Rowan recognized it at once.

He had already guessed what the old man was up to.

If he remembered correctly, that monster was a special piece of work, made for summoning the Sacred Beasts.

And that was indeed the case!

"With Chaos Summoning Beast's special effect, by Tributing this monster and sending it to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon any one of the Sacred Beasts from my hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions!"

Inside the life-support machine, Kagemaru guided the mechanical arm to place one of his last two cards straight onto the Duel Disk.

"Now, you insolent, hateful brat, let me show you the strongest of the Sacred Beasts!"

"Come forth, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms!"

"CRACK!!"

With an enormous roar of thunder and lightning, a colossal pillar of blue energy surged out of the black clouds above and slammed into the ground in front of Kagemaru!

A mass of shattered gray rock was flung skyward.

The vast pressure of that energy wind was more than Chancellor Sheppard, Zane Truesdale, Jaden Yuki, and the others watching from far off could bear, and they instinctively threw their arms up in front of them.

Only on Rowan's side of the field, the dark green Relinquished, who had absorbed two Sacred Beasts as Equip Cards, remained untouched.

It casually released an invisible energy that held the wind off like a barrier.

"ROOOAR!!"

The next second, a giant, savage monster with a dark blue body, sharp claws, and demonic wings appeared with a bellowing roar in the air above Kagemaru's field.

It hovered there!

"At last, the final Sacred Beast has appeared!"

Not far away among the spectators, Chancellor Sheppard stared grimly at the huge, savage, dark blue Sacred Beast and spoke in a heavy voice.

"So this is the most powerful of the Sacred Beasts, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms...?!"

Alexis Rhodes, Zane Truesdale, Bastion, and the others wore looks of shock as well as they gazed at Raviel, Lord of Phantasms, whose entrance had come with such a tremendous show.

They could clearly feel it too. The oppressive weight radiating from this strongest of the Sacred Beasts was noticeably heavier than that of the previous two!

"This is far from over! Next, I activate the second effect of Chaos Summoning Beast in my Graveyard! By banishing it from the Graveyard, I can add a second Field Spell, Fallen Paradise, from my Deck to my hand!"

The old man's voice was clearly fuller of vigor again as he spoke, using his brainwaves to lift the Duel Disk with the mechanical arm.

A light flashed from the Graveyard slot and vanished. Almost at once, a card popped out of the Deck on his own Duel Disk!

The mechanical arm caught it and placed it in his hand.

"Mamma mia, Chairman Kagemaru looks even younger than before!" Professor Crowler, with his blond mushroom haircut, exclaimed as he spotted the change.

The others reacted with a jolt as well.

The Chairman's appearance had already recovered to that of a man of around fifty!

Jaden Yuki and Chazz immediately pulled out their Decks again and looked at Winged Kuriboh and Ojama Yellow.

They soon saw that the two had collapsed where they lay, so weak they had no strength left at all!

Even Bastion and Atticus Rhodes quickly saw that some of the monsters in their own Decks seemed to have been affected too.

Clearly, those were all cards that had at least some potential to awaken a Duel Spirit. It was just that, if circumstances hadn't allowed it, they might never have awakened in their entire lives.

"At last I can feel the power in my body once more! If I take those two Sacred Beasts back, I will surely achieve true eternal life!"

Only a trace of his old age remained in Kagemaru's voice as he snorted out the words.

"Rowan, you hateful brat, this very turn I will take the full power of the Sacred Beasts back!"

"I activate a Field Spell from my hand once more, Fallen Paradise!"

Seeing the old man once again guide the mechanical arm to activate the Field Spell Fallen Paradise he had just added to his hand, the corner of Rowan's mouth twitched. He saw through what the other side was planning.

"You're activating the second Field Spell to reset the draw two cards per turn effect, aren't you?"

In other words, he was using the Sacred Beasts' Field Spell as a Pot of Greed.

"Exactly! With the effect of the second Fallen Paradise, I draw two more cards from my Deck!"

Inside the life-support machine, Kagemaru cackled with satisfaction.

The mechanical arm drew two more cards from the Deck on the Duel Disk.

His hand rose to three cards!

He seemed to already have some plan for turning the tables!

The old man soon held out one of the cards in the mechanical arm and placed it on the Duel Disk!

"Next, I activate the Quick-Play Spell Trap Booster from my hand! By discarding a card, I can activate a Trap Card from my hand!"

A projection of a Quick-Play Spell, with a pitch-black, clamp-like design, rose on the field in front of Kagemaru!

"The Trap I'm activating from my hand is, of course, this Continuous Trap made specially to counter you, Royal Decree!"

As Kagemaru guided the mechanical arm to place the last of his two remaining cards on the Duel Disk, a very familiar brown image of a royal castle, with a king delivering a proclamation, appeared on the field along with the Trap.
