Chapter 830: Teenage Years
Chapter 830: Chapter 830: Teenage Years
Somehow, those small moments had made Ivy gradually develop feelings for Silas.
From then onward, he had always been dependable.
He had always protected her, even during the moments when everyone else looked at her as if she were filthy or worthless.
Whenever she felt as though the entire world had turned its back on her, Silas had remained by her side without hesitation.
That was why she had come to love him so deeply.
While Ivy was lost in those memories, Silas walked toward her. Without saying anything, he wrapped his arms around her and gently supported her stomach with one hand, careful not to put any pressure on her.
"Baby, are you okay? Do you want me to massage you? Do not keep standing like this. It must be difficult for you."
There was unmistakable concern in his voice, and his heart ached when he noticed the faint exhaustion in her expression.
Before Ivy could answer, Silas bent down and scooped her into his arms.
Ivy did not resist.
Her legs were indeed aching after constantly walking around and serving customers.
Rather than taking her to the room upstairs, Silas brought her directly into the Temporal Storage.
He carefully carried her to the bed and gently lowered her onto it, making sure she was comfortable before pulling the blanket over her legs.
Just as he was about to move away, Ivy suddenly reached out and held his hand.
"Do you know what I remembered today?"
Silas looked at her and chuckled. "Our teenage years?"
Ivy nodded.
A warm smile spread across Silas’s face as he sat beside her. "During those moments, I used to think you were very cute. You would often look at me with those innocent pink eyes."
His fingers gently brushed against her cheek.
"Those pink eyes were so beautiful that I wanted to kiss them. I even wanted to kiss your lips."
Before he could finish his sentence, Silas leaned down and kissed her.
Ivy’s cheeks warmed slightly, but she still looked at him with amusement when he finally pulled away.
"If you keep hovering around me like this, you will not be able to earn anything."
Silas laughed, completely unconcerned.
"With how well our sales are going, it is only a matter of time before we become the best sellers."
Hearing his confident declaration, Ivy smiled and shook her head.
"Yes, yes, Mr. Best Seller."
Meanwhile, outside others continued chatting while keeping an eye on the customers.
Jade, Bella, and Alana constantly tried to pick out important people from the crowd, but to their disappointment, there was not a single genuinely influential person among them on the first day.
Most of the customers were ordinary members of the public who had arrived with the mindset that they would simply try the food once.
If they discovered that the restaurant was serving some kind of nutrient liquid, as they had initially assumed, they planned to leave a terrible review and even personally request the business administration to shut down what they believed was a scam.
Who would have thought that they would actually be served proper food?
As they ate, one of the customers became so overwhelmed that tears suddenly streamed down his cheeks. The others around him also began wiping their eyes and quietly sobbing.
"It has been such a long time since we had a meal like this."
"Food like this is considered premium, and ordinary people can hardly find it anywhere. Even the nobility thinks twice before eating something this valuable."
"It is truly touching that someone would be willing to feed commoners food like this at such a cheap price of ten thousand credits."
As the man finished speaking, the people around him nodded repeatedly, their expressions filled with emotion as they savored every bite.
Meanwhile, Bella and Alana quietly slipped some vegetables into their mouths.
’How capitalistic is this whole business?’
If things continued like this, they truly needed to make more money and increase their salaries from Ivy. After all, Ivy was earning an impressive amount of profit from the restaurant.
The vegetables these ordinary superior beings were eating were not the ones Ivy had harvested from her own farm inside the Temporal Storage.
Instead, she had used her powers to conjure large quantities of packaged food and ingredients.
She had deliberately saved the vegetables growing on her own farm for more special customers.
Those special people were likely to be somewhere within the crowd.
They would receive preferential treatment from the restaurant once they were identified.
For the time being, however, Ivy did not want to waste the precious food from her farm on people she considered unimportant.
As for serving ordinary food to the common customers, if something as simple as vegetables could move them to tears and make them feel as though they had entered heaven, then that was actually a good thing.
It meant the food was genuinely valuable to them.
In that sense, Ivy did not feel as though she was cheating them out of their money.
When the day finally came to an end, Bella, Alana, Jade, Ivy, and Silas were all exhausted.
After a brief discussion, they unanimously decided that they needed to hire two helpers.
The following morning, Ivy opened the restaurant door while instinctively protecting her stomach with one hand.
Before she could even look outside properly, a small body nearly rolled through the doorway.
Ivy immediately stepped backward, her heart jumping in alarm, and raised her hand. A translucent protective shield instantly appeared in front of her.
The person who had fallen realized that the door had been opened. She quickly scrambled to her feet, patted the dust from her clothes, and hurriedly bowed.
"Hello, Miss Owner. I want to apply for a job. I can wash dishes, clean, and serve food. I am very smart, and I have an excellent memory."
As she spoke, she kept her head lowered, her small hands tightly gripping the edges of her worn clothes.
Ivy frowned when she looked at her more carefully.
"Wait a moment. You seem to be under the legal age for employment. We cannot hire underage people."
The little girl, who appeared to be no more than eleven years old, immediately dropped to her knees.
"Miss, please take me in."
Before Ivy could react, the girl began repeatedly knocking her forehead against the floor.
"My grandpa is lying in the hospital, and he could die at any time. He always complained that he had never had the chance to eat real organic food. When I brought him the food from your restaurant yesterday, he was so thrilled that he cried. He even told me that his final wish was for me to keep coming here and bring him your food."
Her voice trembled as she clasped her hands together.
"Please, Miss, please fulfill this wish of mine. I know I may sound selfish right now, but I really want to do this for him."
The moment those words left her mouth, Ivy’s expression became complicated.
She truly could not determine whether the little girl was telling the truth or merely using an emotional story to get a job.
Before Ivy could make a decision, Jade came downstairs.
He took one look at the kneeling girl before speaking calmly.
"Let her do it."
Ivy unconsciously turned her attention toward the little girl again, this time examining her much more critically.
’If she is telling the truth, then there is a high chance that she is someone connected to my past life.’
Ivy slowly moved aside.
The little girl immediately bowed deeply toward Jade.
"Thank you so much, kind sir. Thank you so much, Miss Owner."
After saying that, she discreetly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes before standing straight again.
Her expression quickly became calm and composed, so much so that anyone watching her would have wondered whether this was truly the same child who had been crying moments earlier.
Ivy felt a faint ache in her heart as she watched her.
’What could this child have gone through to learn how to hide her grievances so well?’
Soon, Jade gave the little girl several simple tasks.
To Ivy’s surprise, the girl was incredibly quick on her feet.
From the moment the restaurant opened until the doors finally closed, the fastest server in the entire restaurant was none other than the little girl.
The girl introduced herself as Lydia and also explained that she had extensive knowledge about all the important people in the town.
"If you need an introduction to anyone important, you only need to tell me who they are. I will also keep an eye on them while I work."
Ivy looked at her thoughtfully.
Instead of giving Lydia a name to identify immediately, she decided to test her knowledge.
"First, I need to see whether you actually have good knowledge of the important people in this city."
She paused briefly before asking, "Who is the mayor of this town?"
