Chapter 854: Golden Card
Chapter 854: Chapter 854: Golden Card
Catherine stared at her for a moment before forcing a faint smile, clearly unsure how to respond to such an unexpected question.
"No, there’s no lucky cat that I’m aware of, but having good luck is certainly better than having none at all."
Ivy nodded in agreement, accepting the explanation without further questions.
After a brief pause, Catherine looked at her with concern and suggested,
"It would be better if you came and stayed here with us for a while. That way, I could keep an eye on you and make sure nothing happens to you or the baby."
Ivy immediately shook her head.
"That would be too inconvenient for everyone. Besides, my husband wouldn’t be able to sleep peacefully if I weren’t there with him."
The moment Ivy mentioned her husband, Eugenia couldn’t help laughing. She exchanged an amused glance with Catherine, clearly entertained by how naturally Ivy had brought him into the conversation.
Catherine simply nodded, while Eugenia shrugged and decided not to tease Ivy any further.
After their conversation ended, Ivy eventually left.
Meanwhile, Catherine began making special arrangements behind the scenes, determined to ensure that Ivy would remain safe during the coming months.
Ivy had no idea what Catherine was planning, but she understood that the older woman was acting out of genuine concern for her.
Therefore, she didn’t interfere with Catherine’s arrangements and allowed her to make whatever preparations she considered necessary.
When Ivy finally returned to her own residence, she immediately noticed that Jade looked particularly upset. Silas, on the other hand, was sitting nearby, laughing so hard that his shoulders were shaking.
Seeing the contrasting expressions on their faces, Ivy smiled curiously and walked over to them.
"What happened? Why does Jade look as though someone has offended her, while you seem to have heard the funniest joke in the world?"
Silas shook his head, trying to suppress his laughter, but the amused expression on his face made it obvious that he was thoroughly enjoying himself.
After a moment, he finally explained what had happened.
Apparently, Jade had recently encountered someone whom he believed might be his soulmate. The encounter had left him so excited that he had even tried flirting with the person.
Unfortunately, the person he had mistaken for a beautiful woman wasn’t a woman at all.
It turned out that the individual was merely a man wearing a disguise, and his entire performance had been part of a scheme to make someone buy him his favorite meat.
As luck would have it, someone had actually fallen for the trick and purchased the food for him.
However, when the truth was eventually revealed, the person who had paid for the meal became furious and decided to take legal action against both the man and the establishment involved.
The complainant questioned whether the shop owner had deliberately arranged the entire incident to manipulate customers into buying food for the disguised man.
The man, desperate to clear his name, had apparently tried to shift all the blame onto the shop owner.
He claimed that the owner had hired him to seduce customers and trick them into purchasing food on his behalf.
When Ivy heard the entire story, she burst out laughing.
"Then what happened afterward?" she asked, barely managing to contain her amusement.
Silas glanced at Jade, who was already glaring at him, and burst into another fit of laughter.
"What happened afterward? The poor gentleman’s heart was completely shattered! After everything was investigated, the authorities delivered a fair judgment and put the man who had pretended to be her soulmate behind bars. Once the whole matter was settled, this gentleman finally went home, probably wondering whether he would ever trust another beautiful face again."
Jade’s expression darkened with every word Silas uttered.
Finally, he pointed an accusing finger at him and warned, "Silas, if you say one more word about this, just wait and see what I’ll do to you!"
Silas, however, remained completely unbothered. He leaned back in his seat and looked at her with a calm, challenging smile.
"All right, show me what you’ve got. I’m waiting to see how you’re going to deal with me."
Ivy watched the two of them bicker for a moment before shaking her head helplessly.
"If you two keep behaving like this, then forget about me ever coming back here again. I thought I had something important to tell you, but now I’m beginning to wonder whether there’s any point in telling you at all."
The moment those words left her mouth, Jade and Silas immediately stopped arguing and turned towards her.
Their expressions changed almost simultaneously, and they hurried over to Ivy, urging her to explain what had happened.
"Wait, what important matter are you talking about?" Jade asked anxiously.
Silas nodded in agreement, his earlier amusement disappearing as he studied Ivy’s expression.
"That’s right, Ivy. Tell us what happened. We’ll listen properly this time."
Seeing their sudden change in attitude, Ivy finally began explaining everything that had happened during her conversation with Catherine, including the warning about her pregnancy and the dangers she might face while competing for the throne.
She also told them about Catherine’s suggestion that she stay at the castle for the next three months.
By the time Ivy finished speaking, both Jade and Silas had fallen completely silent.
Jade studied Ivy from head to toe.
"You should definitely go and stay with Catherine," he finally declared. "If your pregnancy makes you vulnerable, then there’s no reason to take unnecessary risks. We can figure out everything else later."
Silas immediately nodded, apparently reaching the same conclusion.
"That’s right. I’ll start packing our things right away so that we can accompany you."
Ivy quickly interrupted him before he could move.
"Wait a moment! Catherine only asked me to stay with her. I never said that all of us needed to move into the castle."
However, her explanation did little to reassure either of them.
"No, you can’t go there alone," Jade and Silas said almost simultaneously.
Although they trusted Catherine to a certain extent, neither of them was willing to ignore one undeniable fact: the human heart could change faster than anyone expected.
Even someone who appeared sincere today might have different intentions tomorrow, especially when power and political interests were involved.
They weren’t prepared to place Ivy’s safety entirely in someone else’s hands, no matter how trustworthy that person might seem.
Seeing how fiercely protective they had become, Ivy couldn’t help smiling.
’These two really do worry about me more than they let on.’
She looked at them seriously before offering a compromise.
"If you both want to come along, I can talk to Catherine and ask whether she’ll allow it."
With that, Ivy took out her smart chip and contacted Catherine.
After explaining the situation and discussing the arrangements, she finally ended the call and turned towards Jade and Silas with a satisfied smile.
"All right, you can come with me. Catherine has agreed."
Both of them immediately relaxed, clearly relieved that they wouldn’t have to let Ivy go alone.
Not long afterward, Ivy arrived at the castle.
Jade and Silas accompanied her, carrying their belongings and remaining alert to their surroundings as they entered the residence.
When Catherine saw Silas, she didn’t display any particularly strong reaction. She simply acknowledged his presence before turning her attention back to Ivy.
Ivy, however, had something else on her mind. She had been curious about the mysterious cards ever since they appeared in the game, and she was eager to learn what they meant.
"Catherine, did you manage to find out anything about those two cards I showed you?"
At her question, Catherine looked at Ivy as though she had just reminded her of one of the most important tasks she had been handling.
"Yes, I did. In fact, I’ve learned something about the golden card."
She paused briefly before continuing with a serious expression.
"The golden card can be used to eliminate pain from your body. Its potential is astonishingly powerful. Even if you suffer multiple serious injuries and find yourself on the verge of death, using the card can revive you and restore your condition. It’s an extraordinarily precious item, and you must never use it carelessly."
Ivy’s eyes widened slightly as she listened. She hadn’t expected the golden card to possess such an incredible ability, and she immediately understood why Catherine had treated the matter so seriously.
Without wasting any time, Ivy took out the second card, the mysterious black one, and showed it to Catherine.
"What about this one? Have you discovered anything about it?"
Catherine examined the black card for a while, turning it slightly in her fingers as though hoping to find some hidden marking on its surface.
