Chapter 2178: Chapter 2175: Composite Pill Cauldron

Lin Tian understood that this kind of extraordinary communication wasn’t mysterious. It was like how Ancient Martial Artists become intimately familiar with their weapons. Over time, they reach a state of harmony between object and self.

In the process of gathering herbal medicine, one gains a deeper understanding of the environment, habits, and form of the herbs, which greatly aids in alchemy.

All along, Lin Tian had relied on self-study and self-enlightenment, without a master’s guidance. Gathering herbs was also a way to comprehend alchemy.

"Little brother, I think that’s about enough for today. Let’s head back," Zhuge Cai Zhe said as he helped Lin Tian pack up the items.

Lin Tian nodded and set off on the road back with Zhuge Cai Zhe. The two were not in a hurry, casually chatting and enjoying the scenery along the way.

"By the way, Senior Zhuge, I have a question for you, concerning the Ling Family," Lin Tian said.

Zhuge Cai Zhe glanced at Lin Tian, seeming to see through his thoughts: "About the Ling Family? Is it Old Man Ling, the Ling Pavilion Master, or the little girl Shuiyao?"

Lin Tian understood why he guessed these three people because they were the ones he had the most contact with from the Ling Family.

There wasn’t much to say about Little La Jiao Ling Shuiyao. Though mischievously playful, she was actually quite naive, her personality and thoughts easily discernible. As for Old Man Ling, there didn’t seem to be much doubt about him either.

Lin Tian was most curious about the Ling Pavilion Master, having interacted the most with her. The Ling Pavilion Master was of a similar age to Wang Wanxi and was presumably married. Initially, he thought Ling Shuiyao was her daughter, but she turned out to be her niece.

"The Ling Pavilion Master should already be married, so why is she still living at her parental home? And where are her children?" Lin Tian asked.

He thought this because Ling Zishan wore a ring on her ring finger. Although Ancient Martial clans are reclusive, they still live in society and are influenced by modern thoughts. Therefore, it was normal for Ancient Martial Artists to use phones, drive cars, and wear wedding rings. The ring indicated she was married.

At her age, Wang Wanxi already had two sons, Yun Tian and Yun Xiaotian. There was no reason for Ling Zishan to have none and still be living at the Ling family home.

Zhuge Cai Zhe paused in his steps, gave Lin Tian a strange look as if assessing something, then sighed slightly: "I don’t know the specifics either. All I know is her husband and children are no longer around. What exactly happened, only she knows. But it’s best not to ask, as everyone has memories they don’t want to revisit."

Lin Tian nodded slightly, indicating he wouldn’t ask indiscriminately. It seemed Zhuge Cai Zhe didn’t know much either, so he didn’t press further.

An hour later, Lin Tian and Zhuge Cai Zhe returned to the backyard garden. By now, it was evening; the sun was about to set, and the twilight cast the Eight Hundred Miles Langya Mountain in a mysterious hue.

Old Man Ling walked out of the kitchen, carrying dishes, with a somewhat proud smile on his face: "Haha, I calculated you two would be back about now. Tonight, I cooked using ingredients I refined myself. You’ll surely eat non-stop."

Lin Tian had already caught the aroma. Having not eaten for most of the day, it aroused his grumbling stomach.

"Look at you so pleased with yourself. Let me have a taste and see if your culinary skills have improved after learning from the little brother," Zhuge Cai Zhe said, a bit unconvinced, as he sat around the table without regard for his image.

Of course, he still ate vegetarian dishes. The old man tried a few mouthfuls, and his eyes lit up: "It’s really nice. It seems I can enjoy such deliciousness even after the little brother leaves."

"Old Man Zhuge, are you satisfied now? Praise me well, or else I won’t cook for you in the future," Old Man Ling said more smugly, even playfully threatening Senior Zhuge.

While eating, Senior Zhuge gave a thumbs up, which finally satisfied Old Man Ling.

Amidst the playful banter between the two old men, Lin Tian finished the meal. One must say, Ling Xuesong had high enlightenment; the taste was indistinguishable from when he cooked.

After the meal, Lin Tian began to organize the collected herbs, washing away the dirt with well water before laying them out to dry. Looking at the herbs spread across several sieves, Lin Tian felt a deep sense of accomplishment.

"It’s a pity there’s no medicine cauldron here. Otherwise, I could turn them into elixirs, making them more convenient to carry," Lin Tian said with some regret, as carrying so many herbs was indeed cumbersome.

Hearing Lin Tian’s intention to refine medicine, the eyes of both old men lit up but quickly mirrored Lin Tian’s frustration. Although the Ling Family had many treasures, they indeed lacked a medicine tripod.

Pharmacists had disappeared for who knows how many ages, making medicine tripods even rarer. Of course, Lin Tian had a Seven-star Medicine Tripod, left by Oda Manaka, but it was too large to carry with him.

Thinking of this, Lin Tian suddenly had a whimsical idea. If he had a Space Ring, he could carry whatever he wanted. But, of course, he thought, this was too unrealistic.

"Master, I have an idea," the Sword Spirit suddenly said.

"What idea?" Lin Tian replied casually, not holding much hope, as this guy always spoke without restraint.

"The Heavenly Tribulation Sword can transform, can’t it? Why not morph it into a cauldron lid and combine it with the old man’s Bronze Tripod to make a makeshift medicine cauldron? It should work," the Sword Spirit suggested.

Lin Tian’s eyes brightened upon hearing this. He almost forgot. The Heavenly Tribulation Sword’s form can switch between a sword and a bracelet; he overlooked that it could transform into other shapes as well.

Deciding to act on his thought, Lin Tian immediately set up the Bronze Tripod. The two old men, unaware of his intentions, curiously watched on.

Lin Tian placed the Bronze Tripod on a flat bluestone, then removed the bracelet, which hovered above the tripod.

Under the astonished gazes of the two old men, the metallic bracelet began to transform, extending like a piece of future high-tech equipment, covering the entire Bronze Tripod, with the edges perfectly aligning. Before long, a cauldron lid had been formed.

"I’ve heard from Zishan that the Heavenly Tribulation Sword incorporates a transformative meteorite from beyond the heavens. Seeing it today, it truly is miraculous," Ling Xuesong’s eyes sparkled with wonder and admiration.

"The world’s wonders are indeed remarkable," Zhuge Cai Zhe also exclaimed in astonishment.

"Master, look, it’s done. Wasn’t my suggestion great?" the Sword Spirit said proudly, speaking as if seeking credit.

"Not bad, this time you get the top credit," Lin Tian said, very satisfied.

Though this makeshift medicine cauldron wasn’t complete, Lin Tian’s unique fire control required no kiln, making it quite usable for temporary use.

"Little brother, this... that..." Ling Xuesong suddenly became a bit bashful, looking embarrassed: "Could we watch you refine the medicine? Of course, I know this request is a bit much, you can refuse."

Lin Tian casually replied, "Sure, watch all you want, no charge."

He truly didn’t mind, as he hadn’t been "poisoned" by the thinking of Ancient Martial clans, nor did he have sectarian biases, so naturally, he wouldn’t hide things.

Moreover, the spirit and character of the two old men were admirable. If it were the Situ family, not to mention watching, Lin Tian wouldn’t even let them sniff the medicine.
