Chapter 2189: Chapter 2186: I Am Naturally Low-Key
"I agree with Ling Pavilion Master’s opinion. Qingshuang Pavilion will also recruit outer disciples after the competition ends," Tang Xuan Su declared loudly.
These words made Ji Wancheng and Situ Yuanzhong’s expressions even darker, but neither could influence Qingshuang Pavilion and the Ling Family. Unable to swallow their pride to recruit outsiders, they could only watch as the Ling Family and Qingshuang Pavilion gained both fame and fortune.
"Good!" Someone shouted excitedly, followed by thunderous applause that roared across the platform like a rolling tide of momentum.
"Aunt did well with this move—gaining prestige while angering the Situ family. Look at Situ Yuanzhong; he looks like he swallowed a fly and is as uncomfortable as can be," Ling Shuiyao said gleefully.
Lin Tian shook his head and softly said, "No, Aunt Ling isn’t trying to anger the Situ family. I can sense that Aunt Ling genuinely wants the Ancient Martial World to develop better. She’s doing this from the heart."
"I don’t know why, but I keep feeling Aunt Ling is urgently hoping for the Ancient Martial World to strengthen. Is it just my illusion?" Lin Tian muttered to himself.
"It’s not your illusion; I have the same feeling," Miss said softly.
The two exchanged a look, seeing the confusion in each other’s eyes.
"The second match..." the elder loudly announced the start of the second Ancient Martial match, then drew two names: "Liu Xiaoxiao versus He Weiguang!"
"No way, Liu Xiaoxiao is already injured; how is it her turn again?" someone questioned.
Xiao Manxuan, unfamiliar with the Ancient Martial World’s rules, also wondered, "Liu Xiaoxiao just fought a match; at least let her recover a bit. Even football matches have halftime breaks."
"No, Ancient Martial competitions are fair yet cruel. The first round is a group stage with random draws within the group, sometimes resulting in consecutive matches or multiple rounds in succession."
"Every contestant could face this situation, so it’s fair, yet the marathon battles are brutal for the contestant involved. It’s a test of strength and luck; only those who endure till the end are the victors," Miss said calmly.
"Correct. To reach the end requires not just strength but also a bit of luck. Training is the same," Lin Tian agreed with Miss’s perspective.
At this moment, Liu Xiaoxiao, who just left the stage, returned to the ring—this time, nobody laughed.
Liu Xiaoxiao’s gaze was steady, her face paled somewhat, but her aura was in no way timid. By contrast, her opponent seemed overwhelmed by her presence.
The man named He Weiguang appeared reluctant to meet Liu Xiaoxiao’s eyes.
"Boom..."
The bell for the match began echoing again, its resonance lingering in the air as Liu Xiaoxiao charged forward without any words.
"Eagle Strike, Wind Rip, Vast Sky, Twelve Chains..." Liu Xiaoxiao clawed, palm-stroked, and punched in succession, shadowing each move with a relentless follow-up.
He Weiguang seemed caught off guard, hurriedly parrying but could only defend against Liu Xiaoxiao’s storm-like assault.
Liu Xiaoxiao continued attacking as He Weiguang continuously retreated until forced to the edge of the stage.
"Off you go!" Liu Xiaoxiao shouted softly, striking He Weiguang’s chest with her palm.
With a sequence of attacks, her power and momentum reached their peak; with this palm, she directly sent He Weiguang flying, leaving him unable to fight any longer.
"Second match, Liu Xiaoxiao wins!" the elder announced immediately.
Once the result was declared, the venue burst into enthusiastic applause. Finally, people witnessed Liu Xiaoxiao’s prowess, with an offensive as swift as an eagle’s.
However, Lin Tian noticed that when Liu Xiaoxiao left the stage, her lips had also turned notably white.
Miss also took note, saying, "With her fighting style, she likely won’t endure until making it through. But if she doesn’t fight quickly, her injuries might worsen, preventing her from advancing. She’s simply holding on."
"We should help her," Xiao Manxuan suggested.
The group of women simultaneously looked toward Lin Tian, their gazes speaking volumes.
"Alright, dear heroines, please bring her here," Lin Tian said resignedly.
Ling Shuiyao dashed over like the wind, conversing briefly with Liu Xiaoxiao, then leading her over with some skepticism.
"Are you Lin Tian?" Liu Xiaoxiao stared curiously at Lin Tian, sizing him up.
Lin Tian, still on a stretcher, nodded, answering her query.
"You really are Lin Tian, younger than me, and rather handsome too," Liu Xiaoxiao remarked directly without a trace of shyness.
"Sit down. I’ll help you heal; otherwise, you won’t last through," Lin Tian shifted directly to the subject without responding to her commentary.
Liu Xiaoxiao sat openly, staring wide-eyed at Lin Tian as he wordlessly pulled out golden threads and started acupuncture. This scene attracted quite a crowd, seemingly more exciting than the match.
As medicinal technology advanced, the Nine Needle Technique had naturally improved. Lin Tian gently flicked the golden threads, stimulating Liu Xiaoxiao’s blood flow.
He cleared the stagnation, dissipated the destructive energy left by Ji Zimo, and soon Liu Xiaoxiao, whose face was previously pale, regained the color in her lips and cheeks, her eyes sparkling as though completely uninjured.
"Thank you, Mr. Lin. I feel I can fight three hundred more rounds; your acupuncture is incredible," Liu Xiaoxiao openly expressed her thoughts, her voice loud.
The surrounding people heard her, causing quite a stir, even more so than Ji Zimo’s appearance earlier, their eyes glowing as they looked at Lin Tian.
In the ring, what everyone feared most was winning a fight only to find themselves too hurt to compete in the next—indeed, the most painful scenario.
Yet, Lin Tian’s performance at that moment brought them glimpses of hope and light.
"Just a show, hmph!" Situ Ruoling, watching from afar, snorted at the situation.
"Miss is right; Lin Tian is just envious of Ji Zimo stealing the spotlight. He’s making a scene to catch some attention," a Situ family disciple quickly agreed.
"Yeah, unable to compete himself, he can only try to snag some attention," other disciples sneered as well.
"Remember, if you face Ling Shuiyao in a match, fight her as if nothing else matters. Let’s see how he heals that," Situ Ruoling said venomously.
"Don’t worry, Miss, we won’t disappoint you," the disciples flattered her.
Whatever the Situ family’s mindset, Ling Zishan and Wang Wanxi seemed quite content with what they observed.
"See, I intended to keep a low profile, but now there’s no peace," Lin Tian commented helplessly, aware of the fervent gazes around him.
The group of women felt no remorse; instead, they giggled, saying, "Who told you to be so skilled? More skill, more work."
"I have even more impressive skills left; do you lovely ladies want to see them?" Lin Tian teased in return.
The women blushed, each imagining whatever came to mind.
