10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 123: An Uncertain Future
Without changing his expression, Amon asked, "Did you regress back in time?"
Nadya looked at him with a completely blank expression.
She didn’t say anything, and she didn’t even seem particularly surprised by his question.
She simply stared at him for a long time as if she was frozen.
Eventually, even Amon began to feel uncomfortable under her silent gaze.
"...What?"
Nadya finally let out a long sigh. "Can you bring me my wheelchair?"
Amon blinked. "Your wheelchair?"
Nadya pointed toward the other side of the room. "It’s over there."
Amon stood up and walked toward the place she had pointed at, where a neatly folded wheelchair was resting against the wall.
"Are you having trouble moving?" He asked.
Nadya shook her head.
"I’m perfectly fine." She paused before adding, "My body is just extremely weak right now."
Amon picked up the wheelchair and carried it back toward the bed. "Is this another side effect of whatever shenanigans you’ve been doing?"
Nadya looked away. "Sometimes, you need to lose something in order to gain something."
Amon unfolded the wheelchair and locked the wheels into place. "I’m too selfish to lose anything."
Nadya remained silent.
She simply watched him as he checked the wheelchair, making sure everything was properly secured before turning toward her.
Amon looked at her for a moment before sighing. "Come here."
He carefully scooped her up from the bed and placed her into the wheelchair.
Nadya didn’t resist, although her expression remained slightly amused as she settled herself against the backrest.
Amon stepped behind her and grabbed the handles. "So, where would Madam like to go?"
Nadya thought for a moment before answering. "I would love to see the garden."
"As you wish."
Amon pushed her out of the room and into the hallway.
The residence was quiet at this time of day, with only a few servants walking through the corridors.
Several of them glanced toward Nadya before quickly looking away, apparently accustomed to seeing her in the wheelchair.
After they had gone some distance, Amon suddenly stopped pushing.
He released the handles. The wheelchair continued moving slowly along the smooth hallway.
Nadya noticed it almost immediately as she turned her head slightly. "You shouldn’t play with your poor wife."
Amon clicked his tongue. "Why are you so fixated on what I said?"
Nadya’s lips curved upward slightly.
"You asked me out." She looked forward again. "Now you have to follow through with it."
Amon shook his head. "You’re really good at twisting people’s words."
"You legit asked me to be your wife."
"Are you sure you are not mistaken?" Amon replied. "I am sure nothing like that happened."
"Yeah, yeah."
The two continued down the hallway until they finally reached the garden.
Amon pushed Nadya outside, where sunlight fell across the carefully maintained flowers and patches of green grass.
The garden was surprisingly peaceful.
A small fountain sat near the centre, its gentle sound mixing with the quiet rustling of leaves whenever the wind passed through.
Amon pushed Nadya toward a group of flowers and stopped the wheelchair beside them.
She remained quiet for a while.
Nadya slowly reached out and touched one of the flowers with her fingertips.
Amon stood beside her and he didn’t ask another question.
If Nadya wanted to speak, she would, and eventually, she broke the silence. "I have fragments of the future."
Amon glanced at her and asked, "What kind of fragments?"
Nadya gently brushed her fingers against one of the petals.
"I don’t understand most of them." Her voice became quieter. "But I remember a world that was torn apart by war."
She paused for a second before adding, "People were dying everywhere, and most of them died worthless deaths."
Amon stared at her. "Do you recognize the world?"
Amon wanted to make sure if she was talking about the same world.
’...I have read a lot of regression stories where the protagonist lives in a different world than the one that was destroyed.’
Nadya slowly looked up at him, and her expression remained completely blank. "It was this kingdom."
Amon didn’t immediately respond.
He looked at the garden around them, then back at Nadya. ’She must have been through a lot in her previous life.’
The thought made him uncomfortable, but another thought quickly followed. ’More importantly, what happened to my family?’
Amon’s expression became serious. "What happened to the kingdom?"
Nadya lowered her gaze.
"I saw a three-way war." She paused for a moment. "Humans, Elves, and Vampires."
Amon’s eyebrows furrowed. "And who started it?"
"The humans. Of course." Nadya’s voice remained calm. "They were also the ones who died the most."
Amon frowned and asked doubtfully, "What made humans start a war?"
"I don’t know." Nadya shook her head. "I’ve seen the result, but not the reason. There are too many missing pieces in my memories."
Amon remained silent for a moment, then quietly mumbled, "The Elves and Vampires aren’t on good terms either, so why would they fight each other?"
Nadya looked at him, and there was a strange expression on her face. "You really are incredibly naive about the past of this world."
Amon raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Have you never heard about the Thousand Years of Blood Moon War?"
Amon blinked several times. "The what?"
Nadya stared at him without saying anything else.
Amon scratched the back of his head and admitted, "Alright. I’ve never heard of it."
She stared at him for another second before letting out a soft chuckle. "My poor husband is dumb."
Amon’s lips twitched. "Oi."
He gently pushed her shoulder.
Unfortunately, Nadya had been leaning forward slightly at the time.
The sudden movement caused her to lose her balance.
"Ah--"
She fell forward directly into the flowers.
Amon’s eyes widened as he whispered, "...Oops."
Nadya remained still among the flowers for a few seconds.
Amon immediately crouched down. "Sorry."
He carefully helped her back up and placed her properly into the wheelchair.
Nadya stared at him, and her expression was completely blank.
Amon cleared his throat, trying to change the topic.
"So..." He looked away. "What are your plans for stopping the war?"
Nadya shook her head with a long, tired sigh. "I don’t have any."
Amon froze. "...What?"
"I said I don’t have any plans to stop the war." She calmly brushed a few flower petals from her clothes. "I have something much more important to deal with."
Amon stared at her. "What could possibly be more important than stopping a war that destroys the entire kingdom?"
Nadya looked toward the flowers again. "I need to find the Child of the Human God."
Amon’s expression became confused. "The Child of the Human God?"
"Yes."
"And what exactly are you supposed to do with the child?"
"Give my all to train it for the upcoming problems."
Amon repeated her words. "Train it?"
Nadya nodded her head.
Amon stared at her for a few seconds before asking, "Like a Hero?"
"Yes."
Amon remained confused as he awkwardly pointed toward himself. "Is it perhaps me?"
Nadya stared at him and she burst into a quiet laugh.
"Wow." She shook her head. "My husband is dumb and narcissistic."
Amon’s lips twitched. "That was a reasonable question."
But Nadya’s smile slowly disappeared.
Her expression became tired again as she lowered her eyes. "Your poor wife was burdened with too many responsibilities."
She gave him a faint smile. "You should leave before you get entangled in all of this."
Amon frowned. He had expected Nadya to have some grand plan for changing the future, but apparently that wasn’t the case.
"You really have no plans to stop the war?"
Nadya looked at him with a completely flat expression.
"No." She paused. "But if you want to change the future, I can tell you what started the war."
Amon’s expression turned serious. "What?"
Nadya looked directly at him. "In one month, a massive dungeon will form in the centre of the capital."
Amon’s eyes narrowed. "A dungeon?"
She nodded.
"That dungeon is where everything begins." Her voice was unusually serious. "The wars that follow, the deaths, the destruction of the kingdom..."
Nadya looked down at her hands. "It all starts with that dungeon."
Amon remained silent. The peaceful garden suddenly felt much colder than before.
Nadya slowly raised her head and looked at him.
"If you want..." She gave him a faint, almost tired smile. "You can try to stop it."
