Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Is This Actually a Spirit Body? Cedric Whitmore’s Shock!

After finishing his words, Julian Mercer gestured to the nearby clansmen, instructing them to summon Adrian Mercer and Ethan Mercer.

Watching this, Cedric Whitmore immediately felt relieved.

If Sword Grandmaster Julian had refused to cooperate, things might have become troublesome. However, persuading two young men was something Cedric believed he could handle with ease.

Before long, Adrian and Ethan arrived together and entered the reception hall.

Sensing their arrival, Cedric slowly raised his head and examined them.

He released his Divine Sense, using the power of his Purple Mansion Realm cultivation to investigate their foundations.

The moment his Divine Sense swept over Adrian, Cedric’s eyes lit up.

Adrian’s foundation had been thoroughly transformed by the Marrow Cleansing Pill and the Immortal Flame. The quality of his body and the depth of his potential were far beyond what Cedric had expected.

He had never imagined encountering such a tremendous surprise in a relatively small family like the Mercers.

How could this young man’s aptitude be merely as good as the rumors suggest?

His foundation is extraordinary! Even compared with the true disciples of the Silvercrest Order, he would stand out from the crowd!

A genius of this caliber was an opportunity Cedric absolutely couldn’t afford to miss.

He had to recruit Adrian into the Order!

Cedric’s gaze grew increasingly intense as he looked at Adrian, as though he had discovered a priceless treasure.

However, Adrian wasn’t the only one who surprised him.

When Cedric’s Divine Sense shifted toward Ethan, his pupils suddenly contracted.

He froze in disbelief.

"This unique aura... Could it be that this young man possesses a Spirit Body?"

As a deacon of the Silvercrest Order, Cedric had naturally learned about the extraordinary characteristics of Spirit Bodies.

The aura emanating from Ethan matched what he knew about them remarkably well.

"Hahaha! Today truly is my lucky day!"

Cedric could barely contain his excitement.

"To think that I would encounter someone possessing a Spirit Body during this journey!"

He couldn’t help feeling that visiting the Mercer Family had been the best decision he could have made.

A cultivator possessing a Spirit Body enjoyed advantages that ordinary people could scarcely imagine.

Not only was their cultivation speed considerably faster, but breaking through cultivation bottlenecks was also generally easier.

Under normal circumstances, provided they cultivated steadily and encountered no extraordinary obstacles, they had a strong chance of reaching the Star Wheel Realm in the future. With sufficient effort and opportu9nity, even the Moon Wheel Realm was within their reach.

For this reason, whenever a Spirit Body appeared, powerful sects competed fiercely to recruit its owner.

Now that Cedric had discovered Ethan, he could already imagine the rewards the Silvercrest Order might grant him for bringing such a promising talent back.

Meanwhile, Ethan and Adrian felt increasingly uncomfortable under Cedric’s scorching gaze.

They had already learned about his identity and purpose from the family members who had informed them of the visit. However, neither understood why he was staring at them as though they were rare specimens in an alchemist’s laboratory.

Ethan quietly lowered his head and communicated with the remnant soul inside his ring.

Master, what do you think of this man?

Old Rowan, who resided within the ring, casually glanced at Cedric.

After a brief examination, he withdrew his gaze and shook his head dismissively.

"He’s merely a Purple Mansion Realm cultivator at the Ninth Layer. His foundation is shallow."

Old Rowan paused before continuing with a trace of disdain.

"Furthermore, this old man suspects that he has concealed internal injuries. They aren’t obvious, and with his current cultivation, detecting them would be extremely difficult."

"Under ordinary circumstances, those injuries might not cause him much trouble. But when he attempts to break through to the Origin Sea Realm, they will erupt. His breakthrough will fail, and his cultivation future may be ruined completely."

Old Rowan gave a cold snort.

"At that point, even an immortal would struggle to save him!"

Hearing this, Ethan nearly burst out laughing.

If his grandfather hadn’t been sitting nearby, he might have struggled to maintain his composure.

According to Old Rowan, Cedric was essentially a walking disaster waiting for the right moment to strike.

After finally calming himself, Cedric prepared to begin his recruitment pitch.

However, he was concerned that Julian might suddenly change his mind and interfere.

He turned his head and glanced toward the Patriarch.

Seeing that Julian showed little interest in the proceedings and was simply enjoying his tea, Cedric felt reassured.

He immediately turned back to the two young men.

"My name is Cedric Whitmore, and I’m a deacon of the Silvercrest Order. I’ve come here to select promising disciples for the Order."

He adopted a confident expression and continued.

"Given the reputation of the Silvercrest Order, I presume your Mercer Family already understands the standing our organization enjoys throughout Crownspire Province."

"Once you join us, your family will also benefit from the Order’s protection. If either of you becomes a true disciple or attracts the attention of an Elder, you may even gain access to precious Earth Rank cultivation techniques."

Cedric looked at Adrian and Ethan with growing anticipation.

"Based on my examination of your aptitude, both of you have excellent prospects. If you join the Order, you’ll undoubtedly attract the attention of our Elders, perhaps even the Sect Master himself. Becoming true disciples would be well within reach!"

He smiled broadly.

"So, are you willing to join the Silvercrest Order?"

As Cedric spoke, he could already picture himself returning to the Order with two exceptional young geniuses and earning widespread recognition for his achievement.

Unfortunately, that pleasant fantasy was shattered almost immediately.

Adrian and Ethan exchanged brief glances.

Then they answered without hesitation.

"No, I’m not interested."

"I won’t leave the family."

Cedric’s smile froze.

He stared at the two young men, momentarily unable to believe what he had just heard.

However, remembering the mission assigned to him by the Order, he quickly regained his composure and forced a stiff smile.

"You’re both still young. It’s natural that you don’t fully understand the opportunities before you. Just listen to what I have to say..."

Before he could finish, Adrian and Ethan interrupted him.

"If we don’t want to go, then we don’t want to go. There’s no need to waste your breath."

"Adrian is right."

Their responses were so direct that Cedric’s expression darkened.

Why would they willingly leave the Mercer Family?

Their Patriarch possessed extraordinary abilities, and both young men had their own remarkable opportunities awaiting them. Compared with the uncertain schemes and rivalries of powerful sects, remaining with their family was far more appealing.

They had no reason to abandon their current path simply because a stranger had offered them a place in his organization.

Seeing that his offer had been rejected a second time, Cedric finally struggled to maintain his composure.

"You two grew up within your family and have little understanding of how dangerous the outside world truly is."

He adopted a serious tone and continued.

"You believe your family will always be your strongest backing. But in the eyes of many powerful sects, a small clan’s influence is nothing more than a fragile sheet of paper that can be pierced with a single touch."

"What will happen if your family encounters a disaster in the future? Where will you go then? Will you simply wait for your enemies to kill you, or will you be captured and sold into slavery?"

Cedric spoke as though he were imparting hard-earned wisdom.

"I’m speaking from experience. For geniuses like you, who were born into small families, joining the Silvercrest Order is the wisest choice."

"Not only will the Order provide you with protection, but it will also supply you with abundant cultivation resources, allowing you to turn your natural talent into genuine strength much faster."

He leaned forward slightly.

"Think about it. If you remain with your family, you may be putting its future at risk. Many disasters could be avoided simply by joining the Order."

"For your family’s safety and your own future, you should come with me. I’ll take you back to the Silvercrest Order, where you can obtain opportunities and resources you might never have imagined possible."

Cedric continued his persuasive speech, attempting to make the two young men understand what he considered the obvious benefits of joining his organization.

Yet Adrian and Ethan remained completely unmoved.

Neither showed the slightest interest in his promises.

If Julian hadn’t been present, they would probably have turned around and left already rather than waste any more time listening to him.

Inside Ethan’s ring, Old Rowan watched Cedric’s performance with the expression of someone observing an especially foolish man.

What an idiot.
