Chapter 219: Pleasing the angry wife (Part - 2)
"For the most beautiful woman in the nine realms,"
Madam Li gasped in surprise, instinctively catching the beautiful flowers, but she quickly hardened her glare behind the veil and continued walking without a word, clutching the bouquet like a shield.
"Not enough?" Gu Fan saw it and laughed out loud, "I can keep going."
And the next moment he was already standing in front of a nearby street musician playing a traditional stringed instrument, tossed a gold ring into the man’s lap, and commanded, "Play something romantic. Fast. And do not stop until I say so."
The musician, suddenly wealthier than he had been all month, launched into a bright, sweeping melody.
Madam Li had barely taken ten steps down the street, when the sweet music began to play right beside them, matching her rapid footsteps.
She bit her lower lip, desperately trying to fight the smile threatening to break across her face as she clutched the massive bouquet to her chest. And the smile was winning.
But before she could take another step, Gu Fan suddenly blurred and was in front of her again.
He slid one arm around her waist, and with the other caught her free hand, and before she could protest he pulled her against his chest.
Right there in the middle of the bustling shopping district, under the stunned gazes of hundreds of people, Gu Fan spun her on her heels, made her follow his steps and for the final show slippped his hand along her waist to her exposed thighs, grabbing them firmly as he dipped her backward in a perfectly executed dance move to the upbeat street music.
For the next few breaths, the whole street stopped to stare. The music swelled. Madam Li’s breath left her in a soft, startled gasp.
Her body stiffened against and she was mortified to be put on display like this, but beneath her stiff posture, but her heart was doing something entirely different. It felt warm, reckless and alive. She was secretly thrilled at his public display of affection.
But since she was still playing the furious Matriarch, she forcefully stiffened her legs and straightened herself before shoving his chest away, clutching her flowers as she glared at him through the silk veil.
"Are you out of your mind?!" she hissed, though her voice completely lacked any real anger as she aggressively turned on her heels and power-walked away to keep up her hard-to-get facade, her cheeks burning behind the veil.
"Just a little more," But Gu Fan wasn’t even close to being done.
He vanished, reappeared at a spirit-food stall.
He threw a spirit stone at the vendor, snatched two perfectly roasted, honey-glazed spirit-meat skewers, and teleported right back to Madam Li’s side.
"Open up," Gu Fan ordered playfully, walking backward right in front of her like the world’s most annoying romantic as he held the steaming, delicious meat directly up to her veiled mouth.
She tried to glare. She really did. Then a soft, defeated giggle escaped, and she lifted the silk just enough to take a delicate bite. The meat was sweet and perfect, but his grin was even sweeter.
"You are absolutely ridiculous, you know that?" she mumbled while chewing, her dark eyes shining with affection as she looked at his handsome, grinning face.
"I am just trying to fit a perfect date into the length of a single street because my wife is walking as if she is late for war," Gu Fan chuckled, tossing the empty skewers away and gently grabbing her free hand, intertwining his fingers perfectly with hers as they walked together.
"Is it working?" Gu Fan asked looking st her face with a tender smile.
Madam Li did not answer. She didn’t need to. The way she let him keep hold of her hand said everything.
The anger had completely evaporated from her heart, washed away by the overwhelming effort he had just bombarded her with in less than two minutes.
They spent the rest of the evening walking aimlessly through the quiet outskirts of the town, talking, laughing, and completely ignoring the clan politics and Gu Bao’s fate.
By the time the dark night began to take charge, the streets had become practically deserted. there was hardly a soul in sight.
And the two of them arrived at a secluded spot at the very edge of the valley.
A small, crystal-clear waterfall spilled gently down a rocky cliff, emptying into a glowing spirit-pool surrounded by ancient willow trees and a few smooth stone benches.
A couple of people lingered around the spot at this time, whispering quietly among themselves.
Gu Fan and Madam Li walked hand in hand toward a secluded stone bench near the water, and as they passed the two of them, they immediately began to recognize the tall youth.
"Wait... isn’t that Gu Fan? The Seventh Young Master of the Gu Clan?" A young swordsman whispered, his eyes wide with awe.
"It is him! They say he is the cripple who is now the hidden monster of the Gu Clan!" another cultivator agreed, before his envious gaze drifted directly toward the veiled woman holding his hand, "But who is that woman with him? Look at those massive curves! She has the most incredible figure I have ever seen!"
"Heavens, just looking at her sexy thighs is making me jealous. The champion really gets all the best women!"
"They look well matched."
"I wish I had his luck."
And the two of them, not wanting to incur the wrath of the rising star young master, quickly left from there.
Gu Fan heard every single whisper, and a possessive smirk spread across his face as he leaned down close to Madam Li’s veiled ear.
"You hear that, mother?" Gu Fan teased softly, gently squeezing her hand, "The entire town is already jealous of me because they know I have the most breathtaking woman in the valley wrapped around my finger."
Madam Li didn’t put any of the whispering peasants in her eyes, she ignored the whispers the way a mountain ignores rain.
Gu Fan casually sat down on the cold stone bench, leaning back comfortably and spreading his muscular legs.
Instead of sitting beside him, Madam Li gracefully turned around, lifting the silk of her dress just enough as she effortlessly straddled his hips, dropping completely onto his lap as if it was the most obvious choice.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, letting her breasts press warmly against his chest as she reached up and finally pulled the white silk veil off her face.
She looked at him the way she had looked at him the first time she decided he was hers: with absolute, unshakable devotion.
She slowly leaned down and pressed her soft, glossed lips directly against his in a sweet, incredibly passionate kiss.
When she finally drew back, she rested her forehead against his. A radiant, private smile curved her mouth.
"They can be as jealous as they like, husband," Madam Li whispered softly.
"I am still angry," she whispered, "But next time..."
A faint smile finally appeared.
"If you’re going to ruin years of my planning, at least warn me first."
