Chapter 234: Gu Fan Farmed a Clan War for Free Cultivation Points

  • Next Chapter

While the bazaar was being painted red, Gu Fan sat on the highest tiled roof overlooking the square like a man watching a particularly entertaining street performance.

He rested his elbows on his knees, chin in one hand, and smiled.

"I wish we had some popcorn, and some coke... Man I miss the diet coke," Gu Fan could not help but remember the good old days.

Below him, Song and Bai disciples were still enthusiastically turning one another into spare parts.

A Bai clan elder had just frozen a Song captain’s legs solid and was methodically smashing the frozen limbs with a war hammer while the man screamed.

Two streets over, a Song squad had piled three Bai corpses into a burning spice cart and were using the flaming remains as a barricade. The air smelled of blood, burnt flesh, and pure, unfiltered stupidity.

"Writing this felt a little less heavy on the stomach," Gu Fan had zero intention of joining the filthy street brawl. He was perfectly content to sit back and let the arrogant elders of both clans finish the hard work of mutual extinction, "I could still eat dozens of takoyaki balls in those days... Ahhh! Those days."

Just when Gu Fan was busy thinking about the mouth watering takoyaki balls, the system interface flashed in front of his eyes.

[Ding!]

[Passive Yin-Siphon Triggered: The Host is passively absorbing massive, highly refined quantities of pure Origin Realm Yin essence from your bound parasitic hosts. (Gu Ling, Madam Li, Su Mei, Bai Bing).]

[Cultivation Status: 87% of the 1st Stage of the Origin Realm.]

Gu Fan raised one eyebrow as his dantian throbbed with heavy, boiling heat. He was sitting on the absolute edge of another breakthrough.

Before he could even enjoy the feeling, the screen flashed a bright, aggressive crimson.

[CRITICAL SYSTEM QUEST ISSUED: The Vulture’s Feast!]

[Objective: A true demonic sovereign does not let precious resources rot in the mud. Enter the active battlefield and kill fifty heavily wounded cultivators from either clan. Their cultivation should be higher than 5th Stage of Spirit Realm.]

[Reward: The System will actively deploy a 10x Plunder Multiplier on the Spiritual Qi that is naturally returned to the world upon a cultivator’s death, channeling the massive, highly concentrated energy directly into the Host’s meridians.]

Gu Fan’s lips slowly curled into a pure, greedy smile.

"A 10x multiplier on their death-release Qi?" he whispered, "You are actually encouraging me to act like a shameless Kill Stealer? I love this system."

He didn’t hesitate for a single second.

A white printed cloth mask came out of his Void Band and was tied securely over the lower half of his face. He pushed off the roof tiles and activated the King-Grade ’Sovereign Strike of Infinite Freedom’.

The masked shadow dropped into the smoke-filled, blood-soaked streets like a phantom that had decided the living were overrated.

The two rival clans were so completely blinded by rage that no one noticed the dark figure dancing through their blind spots.

Gu Fan had zero interest in fair fights. He preferred to let the elders exhaust themselves and bleed each other dry first. Then he simply collected the leftovers.

He spotted a Song Clan elder who had just lost his left arm to a freezing saber. The old man was crawling through the mud, desperately trying to shove a healing pill into his mouth with his remaining hand.

Gu Fan blurred behind him, casually grabbed the elder’s chin and the back of his head, and twisted.

CRACK!

The neck snapped cleanly and the next moment he was staring back at Gu fan as his life force left his body.

The moment his soul shattered and released its accumulated Spiritual Qi, the system’s 10x multiplier greedily sucked the invisible energy straight into Gu Fan’s pores.

"One," Gu Fan muttered, ripping the expensive spatial ring off the dead finger before fading back into the smoke.

He repeated the process with mechanical efficiency and pure amusement.

A Bai Clan captain distracted by a fireball had his throat crushed from behind.

A Song Clan swordsman who had just finished killing someone received a precise injection of Heaven-Melting Corrosive Qi into the base of his spine; the man melted from the inside out while still standing.

A heavily wounded Bai elder trying to crawl under a broken cart got his skull stomped flat.

Every kill came with a spatial ring. Every death came with a thick, delicious surge of multiplied Qi flooding Gu Fan’s meridians. His Void Band grew heavier. His dantian grew hungrier.

"Twenty-three... twenty-four... twenty-five..."

He moved through the thickest parts of the battlefield like a tax collector who had decided blood was an acceptable form of payment.

~~~~~
While Gu Fan slipped through the battlefield like a grim reaper, on the opposite side of the burning bazaar, Bai Bing was putting on an award-winning performance.
While she peacefully slept in Gu Fan’s bed, her peaceful sleep was disturbed by the chaos her dear has started.
She quickly dressed herself and slipped out of the Gu Clan to join the Bai clan as on her way, a Bai Clan junior disciple filled her in with the information.
By the time the disciple was done explaining, Bai Bing already knew who was behind this and she could not help but press her lips together. Even at this time of night this scoundrel Gu fan was out playing.
Her pristine icy-blue dress was artistically splattered with enemy blood. She swung her twin silver swords with perfect, desperate energy, looking every bit the loyal Ice Fairy fighting for her family’s survival.
Three Bai Clan elders fought beside her in a narrow, smoke-filled alley, completely unaware that the woman they were protecting had already sold their lives for free.
Bai Bing’s sharp spiritual sense easily detected the massive, highly volatile explosive arrays hidden beneath a fortified Song Clan barricade of broken merchant carts just ahead.
Instead of warning anyone, a cold little smirk flashed across her face for less than a second.
"Elders, look!" she yelled, pointing her sword past the rigged barricade with perfect urgency. "Patriarch Song Tianming is heavily injured and hiding just behind those carts! If we strike now we can take his head and end the war!"
The three Bai elders, blinded by glory and greed, didn’t even bother scanning for traps. They roared battle cries and charged.
The moment they rushed past her, Bai Bing dropped the act completely. She activated her movement technique and launched herself backward into a reinforced stone doorway, casually covering her ears.
BOOM!
The Song Clan arrays detonated the exact millisecond the Bai elders stepped on the trigger runes. Blue fire and force completely obliterated the narrow alley. The three greedy elders were blown into dozens of charred, unrecognizable chunks of meat. Severed limbs rained down across the burning cobblestones like a particularly messy festival.
"Did you all think I forgot about my father?" Bai Bing looked at the splattered corpses of the bai Clan elders with dead eyes, "I never did."
Bai Bing stepped away from the fire, casually dusted ash off her thighs, and deliberately smeared a handful of black soot across one pale cheek. When the rest of her clan arrived, she would be the sole, traumatized survivor of a tragic ambush.
She even practiced a single, perfect tear.
~~~~~~

A few streets away, Gu Fan blurred past a burning tavern, still hunting.

He stepped out of the shadows and immediately spotted Song Tianyu in the middle of the street.

The polite genius was fighting desperately, silver fan and longsword flashing, robes soaked in mud and blood. A group of terrified younger Song disciples cowered behind him while an elite Bai assassin squad closed in for the kill.

"Stay behind me!" Tianyu roared, coughing blood as a heavy halberd strike sent him skidding backward. His Origin Realm Qi was nearly spent.

Then he did the one thing Gu Fan found genuinely entertaining.

"Big Brother! Master!" Tianyu screamed into the smoke-filled sky, voice cracking with pure desperation, "If you are watching, please help me!"

Standing hidden in the deep shadows of the burning tavern barely thirty feet away, Gu Fan casually crossed his arms and let out a low, highly amused chuckle.

"Hang in there little bro," Gu Fan looked amused, "You can do it! Fighting!"

He had zero intention of stepping out.

The Song Clan needed to bleed. Destabilizing the town’s power structure was more important than saving one naive sworn brother. Besides, he was sure, the Heaven’s Will was not going to let Song Tianyu die. He was only second to Gu Chen and his harem members in the hierarchy of the people Heaven’s Will pampered.

Ignoring the pathetic, desperate pleas completely, Gu Fan turned his back on the skirmish and blurred toward a dying Bai Clan captain crawling near the gutters.

He ruthlessly stomped the man’s skull flat, securing the fiftieth kill, and casually ripped the heavy spatial pouch off the corpse’s belt.

[Ding!]

[Quest Completed: The Vulture’s Feast.]

[The Host has successfully executed fifty high-ranking cultivators. Initiating final 10x Qi Plunder Sequence...]

And just as the system notified Gu fan of his fiftieth kill, a massive wave of pure, multiplied Spiritual Qi surged from the bloody battlefield and slammed straight into Gu Fan’s body. The energy was so dense and hot it forced him to teleport away from the streets immediately.

He reappeared standing on the highest sloping rooftop of the Lustful Spring Pavilion, gripping the stone chimney as the stolen death Qi crashed into his dantian. Bottlenecks shattered one after another in an agonizing but deeply satisfying rush of raw power.

"Fuck—yes!" Gu Fan roared through clenched teeth as the raw, concentrated energy tore through his meridians like molten iron.

His veins bulged thick and dark against his skin, pulsing violently from his neck down to his forearms.

His eyes went completely bloodshot, the whites flooded with red as the pressure built behind them.

Thick beads of sweat erupted across his forehead and chest, instantly soaking through his black robes.

Every muscle in his body swelled and strained as if trying to contain a storm that refused to be contained.

He threw his head back and snarled again, the sound half agony, half pure, savage pleasure.

The final bottleneck cracked.

A dense, condensed aura of the 2nd Stage Origin Realm flooded every inch of his body and settled deep into his bones.

The moment it locked into place, thick white steam began violently evaporating from his skin, rising off his shoulders and back in heavy, curling waves as excess heat and residual Qi forced their way out.

Gu Fan stood there for several long seconds, chest heaving, steam still pouring off him, feeling every newly strengthened meridian thrum with power.

He felt physically invincible.

He casually tossed a massive handful of bloody, looted spatial rings into his Void Band and stood up straight on the roof tiles.

Below him, the catastrophic hellscape continued exactly as planned. Fires consumed the sprawling estates of both the Bai and Song clans. The two strongest factions in Poison Valley Town were permanently crippling each other, and not a single person realized who had actually pulled the strings.

He had stolen their wealth, fucked their most prized women, and made them slaughter each other in the streets for his personal entertainment and cultivation gains.

Gu Fan stretched his neck and let out a loud, deeply satisfied laugh that was completely swallowed by the roaring flames.

His sharp green eyes slowly drifted toward the distant, smoky eastern horizon.

The pitch-black night sky was finally beginning to turn a faint, hazy shade of gray. The heavy storm clouds were parting.

Dawn was breaking.

Gu Fan’s villainous smirk widened as he remembered the strict ultimatum he had forced upon the broken, heavily humiliated Song Yan just hours earlier.

"Seven days," he whispered coldly into the morning wind, "I wonder how desperate the beautiful cursed widow will be when she finally realizes she has absolutely no other choice."

He turned away from the burning town, already looking forward to his journey with the Song Clan widow.

"I will enjoy this circus for a few more days."
