Chapter 235: Eastern Gate – The Widow, and the Sworn Brother

  • Next Chapter

The morning sun cut through the thick black smoke still rising from the ruined streets of Poison Valley Town.

Gu Fan strolled down the cracked cobblestone path with the a cloth covering the lazy, satisfied smirk of a man who had just finished watching his favourite circus burn to the ground.

It has been nearly a week since the Clan Clashes in the town had begun. But still there is no sign of the raging fire he had lit to die down.

He wore a fresh set of dark, unbuttoned silk robes. The distant screams of dying mercenaries and the stench of burnt flesh meant absolutely nothing to him.

For the last several days he had lounged around town like a tourist, sipping spirit wine and enjoying the Bai and Song clans enthusiastically turning each other into meat paste.

His cultivation had fully stabilised at the 2nd Stage of the Origin Realm.

The newly acquired twelve Nether-Stone Sentinels sat quietly in his inventory while he still hasn’t got the opportunity to test them out.

Even the Sect quest timer continued ticking down in the corner of his vision like a cheerful reminder that bigger problems were waiting for him.

He felt absolutely zero guilt about burning the entire town to the ground.

He was already thinking of ways about how he was going to conquer the Nether Orchid Demonic Sect and bend every single one of those female assassins right over his knee.

When Gu Fan finally arrived at the massive but damaged stone pillars of the Eastern Gates, his green eyes narrowed with amusement.

And why not? He immediately spotted a cloaked figure already waiting patiently for him in the early morning shadows.

It had been seven days since he issued his ultimatum to her, and Song Yan had actually swallowed her mountain high pride to show up early.

She stood quietly on the other side of the town gate, wearing a simple grey travel cloak over her white robes, and a thin silk veil covered her face.

But the veil wasn’t enough to hide her noticeably thinner and exhausted face.

The lethal ’Yin-Consuming Heart-Rotting Gu’ had worsened during the week he abandoned her. He could see faint dark black veins that were visibly crawling up the pale, delicate skin of her neck.

The Yin-Consuming Heart-Rotting Gu wasn’t showing any mercy and was now chewing through her meridians as the last of her vital force was being sucked away, and neither Gu fan was going to show her any mercy.

"I am ready," As Gu Fan stopped three steps away from him, Song Yan spoke up in a whisper. there was no ego, no anger, no energy. Only the calm from the exhaustion remained.

Gu Fan slowly circled her like a butcher inspecting meat that had been left out too long.

"You look absolutely terrible, Song Yan," Gu Fan chuckled coldly, deliberately letting his eyes rake up and down her fragile curves through the thin travel robes, "That curse is really doing a number on you. Your waist feels even more fragile than last time."

He reached out, grabbed her narrow waist, and yanked her soft body against his chest. Song Yan gasped weakly but did not resist. Gu Fan’s hand slid lower and gave her ass a firm, proprietary squeeze right through the travel cloak.

"But don’t worry. I will be gentle with you," He continued cheerfully, his voice low, "while I have other matters to attend to, getting you on your own feet and then bend you on your knees is high on my priortity list."

Song Yan bit her lower lip hard but said nothing in return. She had given up on her life, but this man... This man his nephew brought with him not only gave ignited that long extinguished hope, he also made her realise how those around her ruined her life with a smile on their faces.

But before Gu Fan could slide his hand down to squeeze her ass, the sound of frantic footsteps echoed from the main road, and Gu Fan let go of Song Yan as he watched Song Tianyu stumble toward the gates.

The usually flawless Song Tianyu looked like absolute garbage. His usually pristine robes were stained with mud and dried blood.

His eyes were bloodshot were bloodshot as if he had not slept for weeks.

The Handsome successor of the Song Clan and the heart-throb of countless girls in the town had spent the last few days fighting for his life in the clan war.

But no more. He had done enough fot the clan. He had repaid the Clan ten times over. It was time for him to follow the path his heart always pushed him towards.

"Big Brother! Aunt Yan!" he yelled, dropping his longsword in the dirt as he rushed forward, "Please, Big Brother, take me with you."

"I can’t stay one more day in this pathetic little town, fighting over crumbs."

"I beg you big brother, take me with you!" Song Tianyu looked at his brother and aunt with hopeful puppy eyes as he pulled out a spatial ring from another spatial ring and offered it to Gu Fan, "I can offer you more treasures from whatever you want, just..."

"Eough," Gu Fan looked at Song Tianyu annoyed as he raised his hand and shut Song Tianyu up.

"Shut your pathetic mouth, you leftover puppy," Gu Fan said lazily, "Just tellme one thing..."

"Are you actually coming with us to be useful, or are you just here to keep an eye on me and cry every time I touch your aunt?"

"Because if it’s the latter, you can stay here and burn with your useless father."

Tianyu’s face went through several stages of righteous protest before a smile appeared on his face. He dropped straight onto his knees in the dirt and looked at Gu Fan with righteous gaze.

"I am your servant, Big Brother," He said patting his chest with his fist, "I swear it. Lets go!"

"Hold your horses boy," Gu Fan smirked as he looked away from Song Tianyu’s face towards the town.

"We have got company."
