Chapter 114: Beating the Wicked
Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Beating the Wicked
Finding himself in a desolate grove, Lu Chen’s hands and feet were tied. He sat on the ground, trying to bite through the rope. The man had tied him very tight, and Lu Chen bit at it for a long time before it finally started to loosen.
After struggling for ages, he finally got the rope off his hands. Lu Chen looked around, found a way out of the woods, and followed the sounds in the distance toward where there were people.
"There’s a kid over here!" someone suddenly shouted. The whole city knew that everyone was searching for two kids today. As soon as they saw Lu Chen, covered in mud and dust, people swarmed around him.
In no time at all, someone notified the Public Security Bureau. A few officers ran over, Lu Feng rushing ahead of them. Seeing that Lu Chen was safe, he rushed forward and pulled him into his arms.
"Dad." Seeing it was Lu Feng, Lu Chen wrapped his arms tightly around his neck.
"You little punk, how did you get out?" Lu Feng looked at Lu Chen, his voice trembling slightly.
He had almost thought he was going to lose him.
"Dad, that guy saw the police uncles. I heard the police uncles calling out as they searched. He got scared, didn’t want to go to jail. I told him to let me go and promised I wouldn’t rat him out." Lu Chen recounted what had happened to Lu Feng.
"As long as you’re okay. Leave the rest to me." Lu Feng was never going to let a child trafficker roam free. With a hidden ticking bomb like that, he had to drag him out.
"Dad, when he was carrying me just now, we didn’t go very far. It’s not far from that grove I was just in. The place he locked me up had straw on the floor, but the room was small, made of yellow mud, and drafty. You could hear people outside on the street selling things..." Lu Chen clung to Lu Feng and whispered in his ear.
Lu Feng froze for a moment; he hadn’t expected Lu Chen to remember so many details.
"Your mom’s worried sick. I’ll take you to her first." Holding Lu Chen, Lu Feng walked toward the station. Fu Xiaoxiao was still there, stubbornly checking every person.
She couldn’t let anyone suspicious slip away.
"Mom!" As Lu Feng arrived with Lu Chen in his arms, Fu Xiaoxiao rushed over and took Lu Chen from Lu Feng’s embrace.
"Xiao Chen!" Fu Xiaoxiao held him tightly. During this time together, while the boys were learning to accept her, she was also learning to accept them.
If they hadn’t found him, she truly didn’t know what she would have done.
She would never have forgiven her own negligence.
"Stay here with him. I’m going to bring Xiao Lin back too." Now that Lu Chen had been found, there was no need for Lu Lin to keep waiting.
Lu Feng walked out with a cold face. The police were waiting for him at the door. Just then, a piercing screech of brakes sounded outside—the arrival of Liu Hongjun with his team.
"How is it? Did you find them?" Liu Hongjun frowned and looked at Lu Feng.
"Found. I’m going to pick up Xiao Lin now." After reporting the situation to Liu Hongjun, Lu Feng signaled for the soldiers who had gotten out of the vehicles to follow him.
The armed soldiers immediately followed Lu Feng and forcefully kicked the door open, charging straight into the traffickers’ lair.
"Who are you people..." Hearing the noise, the trafficker ran out, only to find a bunch of weapons aimed straight at him. Surrounded by killing intent and a scene he had never experienced before, he knew that if he so much as twitched, those muzzles would turn him into a sieve.
"Where are the kids?" Lu Feng asked, his face dark, eyes locked on the man.
The man shivered and pointed to a locked room in the corner. Lu Feng turned and walked toward that room. With one brutal kick, the lock on the door snapped open.
The loud bang scared the man so badly he clutched his head and dropped to his knees, thinking he’d been shot. His whole body trembled—and he actually pissed himself in fear.
Lu Feng kicked the door open and looked inside. The room was full of boys. When they saw Lu Feng, a few of them were so frightened they huddled together.
He scanned the room but didn’t see Lu Lin anywhere. Lu Feng immediately turned back and hoisted the man into the air.
"You grabbed two boys today. Where’s the other one, the seven-year-old?" Lu Feng tightened his grip around the man’s neck. The man’s face flushed red as he choked, feeling death looming over him. He pointed toward another room.
Lu Feng let go, and the man crashed heavily onto the ground.
Lu Feng kicked open the door again. Just as he was about to step inside, he sensed danger and immediately stepped back. A sharpened piece of wood suddenly stabbed hard into the spot where he’d just been standing.
If he hadn’t dodged in time, he really would’ve been skewered.
Seeing the first strike miss, the hand holding the wood lunged forward again.
"Xiao Lin!"
Lu Feng shouted quickly.
Lu Lin froze, looked up in shock, and seeing that it was Lu Feng, finally let go of the weapon in his hand.
"Dad." Lu Lin threw himself into Lu Feng’s arms.
He was, after all, only seven. Seeing family at a moment like this made all his fear rush to the surface at once.
"Are you okay?" Seeing Lu Lin dressed like a girl, Lu Feng’s expression sank.
Thinking of a certain possibility, Lu Feng immediately set Lu Lin aside and had him stand off to one side. Then he went back into the yard, grabbed the trembling man, and, without a word, smashed his fist into him.
The soldiers watched Lu Feng lay into him and none of them moved to interfere.
If it had been their own family taken, they’d hit even harder.
A few soldiers went to the other room and brought those children out. As the kids came out, they saw Lu Feng viciously beating the man who usually abused them. Their previously dull eyes suddenly lit up.
"Hit him! Uncle, beat him to death!"
"Uncle, hit him, hit him, he’s bad, beat him to death!"
"He sold my brother to some other place, Uncle, he’s bad, hit him! He hits us! He doesn’t give us food!"
The older kids snapped out of their shock and all started accusing the man to Lu Feng, listing his crimes.
Every child had injuries on their bodies. If they disobeyed, they were beaten. If they cried, they were beaten. He starved them at the drop of a hat. Any child who hadn’t yet been shipped out had been tortured by this man.
They hated him down to their bones. Seeing him beaten, they all wished Lu Feng would hit him even harder.
Listening to the children’s innocent words—they didn’t know the word "thrash," they only knew "hit, hit, hit"—
Lu Feng did not disappoint them. He held back just enough, but still punched the man, blow after blow, until his face swelled like a pig’s head. Even if his own mother came, she wouldn’t recognize what he used to look like.
The kids clapped and cheered from the side.
"Lu Tuan, there’s a woman here too." The soldiers had searched the rooms and found a female accomplice hiding in a corner.
"She’s in on it too. Take her along with him." Lu Feng had already dug around beforehand. This woman was an accomplice as well. She usually pretended to be weak and gentle, but she was the one who liked to use dirty tricks.
"I’m not, comrade, he forced me, comrade, I really wasn’t in on it." The woman cried as she grabbed the soldier’s leg, insisting she was innocent.
"Your name is Wang Guihua, from Xiahai Village. You’re married to this man. You started in on this business a year ago. You’ve helped sell no fewer than ten children. Do I need to keep going?" Lu Feng stared at the woman coldly. Did they really think nobody knew what they’d been doing?
