Chapter 1287: Not That Much!
Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287: Not That Much!
With Zhuang Yi around, the hospital room was much livelier in the afternoon.
Mu Yan noticed that Mu Chen was particularly lively and cheerful today, frequently asking Zhuang Yi questions, sometimes smiling, sometimes filled with wonder.
She had previously thought he had been rather gloomy lately and was worried about how to cheer him up. Now that Zhuang Yi was here, it alleviated her worries.
Mu Chen was physically weak, and Mu Yan couldn’t let him stay overly excited for too long. Seeing it was enough, she had him rest.
Then Luo Yao came. She let Luo Yao accompany Mu Chen while she took Zhuang Yi back to Jinxiu Villa.
Yu Ma started preparing the evening meal in the afternoon, so when Mu Yan brought Zhuang Yi back, they could already smell the rich aroma of bones coming from the kitchen.
Hearing movement, Yu Ma came out and said, "Young Madam, Young Master Zhuang."
"Yu Ma, you keep busy. I’ll take him to the guest room upstairs," Mu Yan said.
"Okay." Yu Ma nodded, watched them go up, and then returned to the kitchen.
Mu Yan took Zhuang Yi upstairs and showed him to the guest room, "You’ll stay here for the next few days. This is the first time an outsider is staying in the house, so if there’s anything missing, just let Yu Ma know."
Zhuang Yi’s eyes lit up at her words; he was the first to stay at her place.
"Okay, I got it."
"I’ll head down now. You settle in yourself." With that, Mu Yan left.
Zhuang Yi watched her leave, breathed a sigh of relief, and pulled out his phone to make a call.
"I did as you said. I’m at Nuannuan’s place now."
"You were right. Nuannuan has the softest heart. I believe it won’t be long before she calls me brother."
"Also, Nuannuan said I should quickly marry you so you can be her sister-in-law."
"Hey, don’t hang up, Lin Jia..."
Zhuang Yi looked at the disconnected call with a bit of speechlessness. Soon, the corners of his mouth turned up. Well, first, let Nuannuan call him brother; there’s no rush with the wife matter.
In the evening, Jiang Jingheng returned home.
As he walked in, he saw Zhuang Yi lounging casually in the living room, pretending to read a newspaper.
Seeing him return, Zhuang Yi smiled at him and said, "Brother-in-law, done with work?"
Jiang Jingheng glanced up at him, changed his shoes, walked into the living room, and asked, "Why did you come running to Upper City again?"
"Just visiting my sister and brother-in-law," Zhuang Yi said nonchalantly, "Besides, brother-in-law, it’s rather unreasonable of you. You’ve been married to Nuannuan for so long and haven’t invited her family over even once."
"So, is that why you showed up uninvited?" Jiang Jingheng replied coolly.
Zhuang Yi rubbed his nose, "Just concerned about my sister. Who knows if you’ve been treating her well? I had to come see for myself."
Jiang Jingheng glanced at him, not quite in the mood to engage with this rascal.
Just then, Mu Yan came out of the kitchen and upon seeing him, smiled, "You’re back."
"Yeah."
"Dinner’s almost ready. Go upstairs and change, and it’ll be ready when you come down."
"Okay." Jiang Jingheng nodded and headed upstairs.
Mu Yan turned to Zhuang Yi and said, "Go wash your hands. Dinner will be ready soon."
"Alright." Zhuang Yi smiled slightly.
Soon, Jiang Jingheng came downstairs.
The three of them sat around the dining table, which was laden with eight dishes and two soups, a feast indeed.
"Do you two want some wine?" Mu Yan asked.
Zhuang Yi immediately said, "Of course! I’ve been wanting to try the brother-in-law’s private collection for a while."
Mu Yan looked at Jiang Jingheng, "Where’s the wine?"
"I’ll get it." Jiang Jingheng stood up and took a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet and opened it.
Yu Ma immediately brought over three wine glasses.
Jiang Jingheng poured the wine into a decanter, and Zhuang Yi repeatedly praised, "Aromatic, truly aromatic. Lu Hao and the others would be so jealous if they knew."
Mu Yan chuckled, "It’s just a bottle of wine, is it that big a deal?"
She, for one, couldn’t tell the difference between good wine and nostalgic wine.
Zhuang Yi quickly said, "Not really, not really."
