Chapter 1317: Chapter 1317: Acknowledging Kinship

In no time, the dishes were served, and Mu Yan found that they were all her favorites.

Kong Lizhen saw Mu Yan looking at the zhajiangmian on the table and smiled, saying, "They say the zhajiangmian here is delicious. If you like it, have some more."

"I do quite like it," Mu Yan chuckled, "I used to be puzzled, but then I remembered that I grew up in Beijing as a child, and Beijing’s zhajiangmian is the real deal."

"You’ve had amnesia?" Kong Lizhen looked at her in surprise.

"Yes, but I’ve remembered everything now," Mu Yan replied with a smile. Not wanting to dwell on the topic, she picked up her chopsticks to serve Jiang Jingheng dishes.

Kong Lizhen watched the two of them, one mixing noodles and one serving dishes, clearly close, and she smiled as she began eating.

Throughout the meal, it was mostly Kong Lizhen talking to Mu Yan, while Jiang Jingheng and Jordon remained relatively silent.

Kong Lizhen asked Mu Yan many questions about her work and life, like a senior caring for a junior. Mu Yan wasn’t bothered by it and answered truthfully.

Upon learning that Mu Yan had a younger brother in the hospital, Kong Lizhen said, "Can I visit your brother?"

Even though Mu Yan liked this aunt very much, she was somewhat surprised and said, "I appreciate your kindness, but there’s no need to trouble yourself."

"Why not? I used to have a daughter about your age, seeing you feels like seeing her. If you don’t mind, may I take you as my goddaughter?" Kong Lizhen said, looking at her expectantly.

Being suddenly asked to become a goddaughter left Mu Yan a bit unprepared, but looking into those eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse.

"Is this... appropriate?"

"Why wouldn’t it be," Kong Lizhen laughed, "I truly feel a connection with you."

"Exactly, she came all the way to China just to meet you," Jordon chimed in, "Though I don’t quite approve of her actions."

Mu Yan abruptly looked at Jordon; was he displeased? Did he dislike her?

"Ah Yan!" Kong Lizhen’s face darkened as she glared at him.

With everyone misunderstanding, Jordon sighed and said, "I’m clearly older than Miss Mu, but if she becomes your goddaughter, wouldn’t I be a generation lower?"

So that’s the reason, Mu Yan thought to herself. Suddenly, she realized something and asked Jordon, "Isn’t Ms. Kong your aunt or sister?"

"Of course not," Kong Lizhen smiled, "Ah Yan is the eldest son of my brother; he should call me grand-aunt."

Mu Yan, "..."

She glanced at Kong Lizhen and then at Kong Yanzi, finding it hard to believe that such a young, beautiful lady had such a grown grandson.

"Yanyan, would you like to be my goddaughter?" Kong Lizhen asked Mu Yan again.

Hearing this nickname so suddenly, Mu Yan felt as if her heart was struck hard. If not for the unfamiliar face, she might have thought, might have thought...

She suddenly laughed, "It would be my honor if you wish to take me as your goddaughter, how could I possibly disagree?"

"Wonderful, I have a daughter again," Kong Lizhen was thrilled, her eyes even welled up with tears.

"Congratulations to you, grand-aunt, for getting a goddaughter. Now I have to call Miss Mu ’Aunt’," Jordon laughed.

Mu Yan quickly said, "No need, you’re older than me, there’s no need for such formalities."

She recognized Kong Lizhen as her godmother solely because of their connection, not intending to forge ties with the Kong Family.

Unexpectedly, Jordon responded, "That’s not right, when the Kong Family acknowledges relatives, it’s not just a matter of face. Since you’re my grand-aunt’s daughter, you’re naturally my elder. I ask for your guidance as Aunt in the future."

Seeing him with such seriousness, Mu Yan felt goosebumps all over.

Jiang Jingheng watched the scene with a cold expression, not saying a word.
