Chapter 1487: Chapter 1477: Searching

Mu Yan was baffled. Went to the restroom?

What’s going on?

She looked at the police officer beside her and asked, "He’s not in the emergency room?"

The police officer was also bewildered; the person was clearly inside, so how did he suddenly go to the restroom? And he managed to avoid their notice?

However, someone indeed went to the restroom earlier. But wasn’t that person diagnosed and sent to a ward?

"Are you saying the man who was shot just left on a stretcher?" the officer immediately asked the doctor.

The doctor nodded, "Yes, he said he couldn’t move but wanted to use the restroom, so he asked the medical staff to wheel him there. You should have seen him outside."

The two officers exchanged a glance. The face of the person on the stretcher was covered, so they didn’t see his appearance clearly.

The person never showed his face the entire time.

After all, he’s a brave soul, not a criminal, and he’s injured. He doesn’t want to show his face, and it’s hard to demand it; who would have thought this would become the source of trouble.

"I’ll go check the restroom." One of the officers said, running toward the restroom.

Mu Yan stood still, lost in thought, looking despondent, tears brightening her eyes.

"Yanyan, don’t worry, it’s okay. Wait here, I’ll check." Kong Lizhen comforted her.

Mu Yan said nothing, pursed her lips, tightly holding her hand.

Feeling the force on her hand, Kong Lizhen looked at her in surprise, "What’s wrong?"

Mu Yan said nothing, just refused to let go.

At that moment, the officer who went to check returned and said to his colleague, "I searched everywhere in the restroom, and there’s no one."

"What’s going on? He still has a bullet inside him, where did he go?"

"I’ll contact others and search together."

The two officers made arrangements and went off to search.

Kong Lizhen turned to the doctor, "Why didn’t you inform the police when the patient left?"

The doctor frowned and said, "Ma’am, we are only responsible for saving people, not watching them. Please understand."

His tone wasn’t particularly pleasant, but his point seemed somewhat reasonable.

"But he’s a patient; you have no reason to watch over him, but you must ensure his safety, right?" Mu Yan looked at the doctor, her gaze fierce.

The doctor was taken aback, didn’t argue, and even seemed afraid to meet her eyes.

Mu Yan suddenly laughed, self-mocking, "Everything is deliberately orchestrated."

She turned and walked down the corridor.

"Yanyan, where are you going?" Kong Lizhen caught up with her and stopped her, "It’s dark now, don’t go out alone."

Mu Yan looked at her, helplessness filled her expression, tears streaming down, "Mom, I don’t know where he is."

"Why are you crying out of nowhere? You’ll find him, don’t worry." Kong Lizhen said, helping her wipe her tears.

Mu Yan closed her eyes and shook her head, "He can’t be found. He’s hiding from me; he doesn’t want to see me."

Kong Lizhen looked at her and finally asked what’s been on her mind, "Is that person really Jing Heng?"

Mu Yan stared forward, tears filling her eyes again. Suddenly, she wiped her tears and walked forward, quickening her pace.

The hospital’s street lamps weren’t bright; Mu Yan couldn’t afford to miss any corner, yet there was no trace of him.

Fortunately, the police checked the surveillance cameras and found out he had left the hospital.

Upon hearing the news, Mu Yan immediately ran outside, following the road straight ahead.

She didn’t know where he was, but she couldn’t give up.

He kept walking, calling his phone repeatedly. The phone was always off, but she continued calling.

Looking at the seemingly endless road ahead, she suddenly shouted, "Can you come out, please?"
