Chapter 1550: Chapter 1540: Self-Awareness

The secretary was giving a report, and upon seeing Song Cheng’an, promptly said, "The Vice President is in the office."

Song Cheng’an nodded, "I’ll go in to find her."

He pointed at the few bags on the table and said, "These are gifts for you all."

"Thank you, Young Master Song," the secretary quickly replied.

Song Cheng’an smiled, "I should be thanking you for always helping Wenhui."

Saying that, he headed towards the Vice President’s office.

The secretaries immediately started joyfully dividing up the gifts. As expected of Young Master Song, they’re luxury items worth as much as a month’s salary for them.

Inside the office, when Song Cheng’an pushed the door open, Jiang Wenhui was looking at documents.

Hearing someone come in, she asked without looking up, "What’s the matter?"

Suddenly, she sensed something placed on the table.

Instinctively, she looked over — it was a gift box.

Her expression slightly changed as she looked up to see Song Cheng’an smiling at her.

"When did you come back?" she asked in surprise.

"Today, I specifically didn’t tell you because I wanted to surprise you," Song Cheng’an smiled, "This is a gift for you, see if you like it."

Jiang Wenhui picked up the exquisite gift box, opened it, and found a diamond brooch.

"I happened to see it while shopping and thought it suited you, so I bought it. Do you like it?" Song Cheng’an said.

Jiang Wenhui knew his ’happened to see’ was actually a deliberate choice for her. She nodded, "It’s beautiful."

Seeing her mood was low, Song Cheng’an comforted her, "Don’t be upset, winning and losing is common in warfare. I believe you can do better. Don’t doubt yourself; sometimes, failure is the best shortcut to success."

Jiang Wenhui didn’t speak, closed the box, then tidied up the documents on the table and said, "Let’s go, let’s eat, I’m hungry."

"Sure, I’ve already booked the restaurant." Song Cheng’an smiled, taking her bag and walking out together.

In the Vice President’s office, the secretaries had finished dividing the gifts and were chatting energetically about gossip, not even noticing the office door opening.

An assistant, fiddling with a necklace from Tiffany’s, said, "Who says the Vice President lost? With a man like that cherishing her, being the president isn’t that important."

The secretary shook her head, "I’m just afraid the Vice President is feeling uneasy."

The assistant frowned and said, "If you ask me, the Vice President is overestimating herself. How could she possibly compete with the president?"

The secretary’s face instantly changed at these words, "How dare you say something like that at work? If the Vice President heard it..."

The assistant retorted irritably, "I’m just speaking the truth. A person should have self-awareness. She’s done well to reach this position now but even dares to dream about the president’s spot... Why are you pulling me?"

She turned to look at the person beside her, then followed her gaze to see Jiang Wenhui standing at the Vice President’s office door.

A touch of panic crossed her face; she wished she could find a hole to bury herself in.

"Is the work all done?" Jiang Wenhui smiled faintly, "If it’s done, you can get off work."

The assistant looked at her nervously, "Vice President, I didn’t mean it like that just now."

"Did you say something?" Jiang Wenhui asked in surprise, "Alright, go ahead, these past few days have been hard on you." She averted her gaze and walked straight ahead.

Watching her leave, the assistant felt like she was descending into hell, "I’m doomed."

"This time, you’ve really gotten yourself into trouble," the secretary frowned.

Having worked closely with Vice President Jiang for many years, she knew her personality well. She’s genuinely not a forgiving person, especially when someone touches her sore spot.
