Chapter 1551: Chapter 1541: You Also Think I’m Inferior to Jiang Jingheng?!
Coming out of the company, Song Cheng’an immediately sensed that the atmosphere was a little strange.
Although Jiang Wenhui hadn’t said anything, anyone could feel the low pressure hanging around her.
He hesitated for a moment, then said, "You really don’t need to take other people’s words to heart. In my eyes, you’ll always be the best."
The person beside him suddenly stopped walking.
Song Cheng’an also halted, looked at her cool, aloof profile, and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"I suddenly feel a bit unwell. I want to go home and rest. Let’s have dinner another day," Jiang Wenhui said.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Song Cheng’an grabbed her arm and asked, "Did I say something wrong?"
"No!" Jiang Wenhui lifted a hand and brushed her hair back.
Unfortunately, Song Cheng’an wasn’t so easily fooled by her. He said, "You’re taking what those people said to heart, aren’t you? Wenhui, don’t care about what others say. You’re you, you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone."
"I’m not comparing myself to anyone." A trace of impatience showed on Jiang Wenhui’s face. "Let go of me."
Song Cheng’an went on, "Wenhui, I know you’re strong, but you still have me. I can be your shoulder to lean on."
Jiang Wenhui suddenly laughed. She lifted her eyes to look at him and said with sarcasm, "What, you also think I’m not as good as Jiang Jingheng?"
"That’s not what I mean." Song Cheng’an hurried to explain. Seeing the resentment filling her face, his brows drew together slightly. "Wenhui, no one thinks you’re inferior to Jing Heng. It’s you who’s taking it too much to heart."
"Yes, I am taking it to heart. Ever since I was a child, whether it was in school or at work, in what way have I ever lost to Jiang Jingheng? But in the end? My elder brother was badly injured and can’t inherit the family business, everyone supported me, yet Grandpa chose that good-for-nothing. Why? Just because I’m a woman? Could I have chosen my gender when I was born?" Jiang Wenhui said with bitter self-mockery.
"Wenhui, maybe it’s not the way you think. You’re being too sensitive," Song Cheng’an tried to persuade her.
"Enough, Song Cheng’an, I don’t want to argue with you." Jiang Wenhui flung his hand away. "Don’t follow me."
With that, she turned and walked ahead, unlocked her car, and got in.
Song Cheng’an watched her drive away and didn’t go after her. He let out a sigh, his features full of frustration.
He’d guessed she wouldn’t be in a great mood today, so he’d specially prepared a surprise for her tonight. Now it seemed there was no need.
He took out his phone and dialed a number.
"I’m not coming tonight. Cancel it."
He hung up, lifted his eyes to the sky. The sun had already set; a faint streak of afterglow lingered at the horizon, but the sky itself was too dark and heavy, carrying a sense of oppression.
The news that Jiang Jingheng had become the new chairman of Shengyuan Group had already spread throughout the Upper City’s upper-class circles. The Jiang Family naturally knew all about it.
At the Jiang Family Mansion, ever since learning that Jiang Wenhui hadn’t been chosen as president, Qiu Shuyun’s face had been pulled long all day, like someone owed her five million.
The servants in the house all knew her temper and didn’t dare provoke her, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t go looking for trouble.
Now the old master was bedridden, the main branch had fallen apart, and at dinner there were only Qiu Shuyun and Jiang Zhengfeng at the table.
Qiu Shuyun took a sip of soup, then slammed the bowl down on the table. "How much salt did you put in this soup, are you trying to kill me with salt?"
"Second Madam, I’ll get you another bowl," the servant hurried over.
Qiu Shuyun glared at her and snapped, "What, now that our Wenhui isn’t president, you people start neglecting us? Who gave you the guts!"
"No, Second Madam, we wouldn’t dare," the servant said quickly.
Jiang Zhengfeng looked at Qiu Shuyun, a bit impatient. "I think the soup is fine. Stop making trouble out of nothing."
