Chapter 1559: Chapter 1549: Evicting Guests
Everyone in the restaurant held their breath, not daring to make a sound, scrutinizing the suddenly distinguished man and imagining the face hidden under the brim of his hat.
The guesthouse owner came forward, his round face full of smiles, "Sir, please return to your room and rest for a while. I’ll send lunch to your room right away."
The man didn’t speak, never casting a glance at anyone else as he hugged his bouquet and headed upstairs.
The owner saw him go up and immediately went to the kitchen to prepare lunch.
As soon as he left, everyone in the restaurant snapped back to reality, exchanged glances with their companions, and resumed eating, with conversation soon filling the air again.
Driven by curiosity, a woman asked, "Who was that man just now? He’s so tall, and he has a great figure."
"Judging by his demeanor, he must be a wealthy man. I just wonder if he’s handsome," someone commented.
"Didn’t you see him using a hat to cover his face? He might have a face full of acne scars," someone joked, "He might even have oozing sores all over."
"Ugh, can you not mention such disgusting things while we’re eating?" a girl said disdainfully.
"Girls nowadays seem to only like wealthy and handsome men, but can looks feed you? Do you think rich men would even fancy you? Better to find someone honest and reliable, because outstanding men are never dependable," said a middle-aged woman who had previously mocked celebrities as gold diggers.
Suddenly, the faces of the couples at the table turned unpleasant.
The girl felt the aunt was mocking her for being shallow and materialistic, while the boy naturally felt like he was being called a useless pushover.
Yet, the aunt seemed oblivious to the low-pressure atmosphere at the table and continued, "I know what I say is unpleasant to hear, but when you suffer down the road, you’ll realize I’m right. The most important thing in life is to face reality."
After saying this, she put down her chopsticks, got up, and walked towards the stairs, ready to go back upstairs to rest.
The young couple exchanged a glance, both seeing displeasure in each other’s eyes, but neither acted out, as they knew it’s better to avoid trouble when traveling.
Just then, the sound of a dispute came from the stairway.
"What do you mean I can’t rent the room? I’ve already paid," it was the voice of the same aunt from earlier, sounding extremely displeased.
Everyone in the restaurant looked at each other, wondering what was going on.
At the stairway, the guesthouse owner said with a smile, "Ms. Zhang, strictly speaking, you only paid for the days before today. We’ve already covered today’s lunch costs, but considering the inconvenience of your travel here, we’re treating you to this meal. Please pack your things and leave."
"Did I say I wouldn’t pay for today? What business makes customers pay before providing service? You kicking me out indiscriminately like this is an infringement of consumer rights, and I’m going to sue you," Ms. Zhang shouted loudly, her face contorted with anger.
Many people gathered around, staring in shock at Ms. Zhang’s haughty demeanor, never having heard of someone staying at a hotel, not paying upfront, and thinking they could pay after.
The guesthouse owner smiled, "If you have any complaints, you’re welcome to file them. We’re happy to cooperate with any investigation, but according to our payment records, you have indeed only paid for your stay up until yesterday."
He implied that he wasn’t afraid of her suing, since he had evidence.
"You..." Ms. Zhang was furious, glaring at him, "Fine, can I pay now? Isn’t it just about wanting me to pay? Did you have to make it so ugly? If your place keeps up this kind of service, you’ll close down sooner or later."
She said these cutting words while taking out her mobile phone to make the payment.
But the owner didn’t comply with her wishes, "I’m sorry, but this room has already been rented to another guest. Please move out immediately."
